The last straw was they didn't show up to pick up our trash so I called and left a message on their Facebook messenger and never got a reply. Turns out we didn't pay the last months bill but we also didn't receive a bill like normal. Instead of communicating this they just didn't pick up the trash and ignored our calls and messages.

They then found a way to still do it even though the text message confirming on my end never went out, so there was a snafu. Packing up was great. The two guys who came were friendly and polite. I noticed them wiping their feet every time they went into the house. I saw what they were doing--packing wise, carrying--and it was respectful of the stuff as well as their own safety (important, you know). This has been during Covid19, and even though most people where we're at dispense with masks, they wore them in the house and whenever they and I were talking, also with social distancing then. Price. OK, by nature we always think "it's too expensive." They were neither the cheapest nor the most expensive of who I checked out. But they were highly recommended by my brother, so I went with them. I then decided to store the stuff at their warehouse. Again, not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. I was frustrated that the owner/spokesperson Ely insisted I needed two 26-foot trucks and a five person team to move out of a 1096 sq ft space into a 784 sq ft home. Ely stressed me out for an entire week while I agreed I would probably need one full size truck, I was giving a lot away before moving (which I explained) and two large trucks would be overkill. The move ended up needing half of one 26 foot truck. Afterwards, I get no acknowledgement or apology from Ely on his mis-diagnosis. he had me stressed for days on the cost of my move. I am sure I paid for the extra large truck they needed to fill with gas and drag around the entire move. At this point, I'm just glad it's over.

I called the guys at D&J and my call was answered by a real person, there was no "Press 1 for this...press 2 for that..." I easily scheduled a weekend appointment-even with the threat of winter storms they were willing to keep an eye on the forecast and stressed their flexibility. He quoted me that a typical move like mine would be about 4 hours. I had packed all that I could into moving boxes. With the exception of furniture. Which, they broke apart AND reassembled perfectly in my new place!!! Score! They arrived promptly on a Saturday morning, they practiced masking and social distancing and you could tell the way the team performed seamlessly that these guys knew what they were doing and they treated my possessions with kid gloves. They went above and beyond during this freezing winter move. With one guy on his knees with a hammer chiseling my frozen BBQ grill from the snow bank that encompassed it! They accept cash and check only -I wished I could have paid with my debit card as I seldom use cash now-a-days. But, that said, the crew waited for me to dash to the ATM up the street, so I paid that way. For me, they charged $130.00 an hour. And it was beyond worth it! They spent 3.5 hours between both places, that included disassembling and reassembling my bed and my daughters bed. These guys know what they are doing. They were quick, professional, approachable and treated my furniture like their own!

Dishonest and misleading business practices -- beware before you use Clark's Scrap Metal…read more In September 2025, I called Clark's Scrap Metal about recycling material from a large building renovation. I was told their pricing was listed on their website (clarksscrapmetals.com/scrap-metal ), and it all looked fair. The cost to deliver and pick up a 30-yard dumpster was $350, which would simply be deducted from the proceeds of the scrap we provided. We loaded over 5,500 pounds of valuable material -- copper plumbing, electrical wire, and cast iron -- which they picked up on September 27, 2025. After two weeks of silence, I called to check in. That's when I was told, by someone named Lacy, that the prices on their website don't apply to anything placed in a dumpster. Instead, everything -- copper, aluminum, wire, you name it -- was supposedly worth just $0.04 per pound. Four cents. This directly contradicts what I was told when ordering the dumpster on September 23, and nowhere on their website or roll-off page does it mention such a policy. According to Lacy, "they wouldn't make any money" if they paid the listed rates for dumpster loads -- as if that excuses the deception. We had more than 500 pounds of copper pipe alone, plus similar amounts of wire -- thousands of dollars' worth of material -- all sold off for pennies because they misrepresented their pricing. If only they were upfront when I called, I would have hauled the metal in myself. Instead, they waited until after pickup to rewrite the deal. It's no mystery how a business grows to four locations when it operates this way -- when you mislead customers, you profit at their expense.
