The owner, I am assuming, tried warning me that the quality would not be that great because of the age of the film, but I got exactly what I expected. The email and phone communication with the EcoScan Operations Director was prompt, professional, and included all the details I needed. That, plus the location of the company in VA, made me pick them. It turned out to be a great decision, as the experience was outstanding: the project was completed within the expected amount of time, with resulting high-quality videos uploaded in a Box.com account they created for me. My DV tapes were also shipped back to me promptly. I recommend their services wholeheartedly and will personally look for ways to use them in the future for other projects related to document/video management. =========== Update in Mar 2022, i.e. a couple of months after the previous review - Just did another project with Ecoscan, including digitization of a set of decade- old PAL VHS tapes - I am happy with the outcome, as the statement of work was completed on time and within budget. Thanks !

Gregg Landry and his Baltimore County-based businesses -- Bluerock Productions and Towson Transfer…read more-- were recommended to me by the engineer who headed the BO&E department of CBS TV affiliate WJZ-TV. CBS had been a client for many years and I needed boxes and boxes of old VHS tapes converted to digital. Gregg went above and beyond. He quoted a price (Towson Transfers) , but then made the effort to weed out duplicates and tapes too badly decomposed to produce any good digital images and the result was a reduced bill and a body of work worth viewing. He also helped me cart the whole pile up to his office. But wait! It doesn't stop there! I also used his other company, Bluerock Productions, which offers video and photography filming services, editing and more and wow! Did he sure deliver on the "more!" On Christmas Eve I got a last-minute call from a big casting director looking to insert me into a Hallmark Film where the other actress had to drop out. I needed to do an audition ASAP; have the video production quality GREAT and have a "reader." Gregg answered his phone on Christmas Eve and agreed to come into the office the day after Christmas to help me film the audition. He was a great reader, and the quality of the video was superb. As I had just moved, all of my equipment was in storage, not accessible and not many people are willing to be a reader "at the last minute" anyway. What a super all-round great guy, great companies, great work.

I had been transferring videos myself using my own amateur equipment, but their equipment was far superior. Not to mention, Eric (the owner) is extremely professional, trustworthy and very friendly! He is a professional that has been in the broadcasting business for decades and clearly knows what he's doing. Not to mention, his studio was incredibly impressive - it was very cool to see for a video-editing nerd like myself! He even took the time to show me around his studio, such incredible equipment. In any case, I highly recommend VideoTapeTransfers for digitizing your videos! They came out fantastic - great audio and great video quality!! Just what I was looking for. Also very reasonably priced ($25 for a two-hour VHS; everywhere I looked was in the $20 to $30 range, with the $20 places not having professional equipment, and the $30 range just being overpriced). Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!
