My few day's there have definitely made me a better pilot. I suspect their bayou based location made the training more enjoyable and more real-world-practical than just flying circles in and out of a large lake. I was very happy with quality of the instruction material, instructor professionalism, and the level of detail they covered. I would go back there again in a split second. I have already recommended them to members of my local pilot club. My only regret is I wish Yelp would allow me to rate them with more than 5 stars! This company, in only 15 years began as a humble repair yard on Peters rd with a small slip and one building , now is a major player in the US building market. My work uses this place for repairs and sometimes, new construction of barges. The crew here, mostly Vietnamese , are HIGHLY skilled craftsmen. The Painting crew is no less. The speed at which they work is very fast. Its basically top quality for this industry. They do not build luxury yachts or minor vessels, but can construct oil tankers, simple deck barges and very complicated 300' offshore supply boats.

The lady inside told me about a fall festival that was going on nearby that I was happy to be able to go to. Woohoo. Also got information about other things in the area. They are working on rebuilding the center after the last permanent building was damaged last year during Hurricane Ida. I like to stop at visitors centers to get information on the area and ideas of places to stop at. The cajun coast offers a variety of things to do, and this place has information on things to do.

This is another place most people will probably never use. But I feel compelled to share my…read moreknowledge. It is a barge repair yard located on the mighty Mississippi River in Jefferson, La. Across the river from the city of Westwego. This yard speciality is repairing hopper barges. They can do it faster than anyone else on the river in the area. The crew and inside staff are very friendly and experienced. They also have USCG and ABS certified welders. No worries about quality workmanship here.
