Girls Gone Buff is a great workout and community!…read more The owners, Chelsey and Shane, are wonderful, motiving, and their passion for fitness and GGB is clear - and contagious! They bring new work outs to every class, which keeps it fun, interesting and fresh. They combine stretching, core work, cardio, and strength into every boot camp class. There are numerous classes every day at multiple locations, so it's easy to fit it into schedule. The work outs are scaleable so they are great for any fitness level - pro to beginner. They combine classic moves like push ups, sit ups, and squats with jump rope, burpees and kettle bell swings to engage the full body. Chelsey and Shane do a great job of making people feel welcome and creating a community. They share additional online work outs to add to your routine - at no additional cost. They also share healthy recipes, community events, local races, and monthly challenges to keep everyone working towards their goals. I highly recommend GGB!

What i love most about Girls Gone Buff is that it's for every woman. One of the first things i…read morenoticed when i started going to their classes is how inclusive it is. You'll see every body type and age group working out with you. You'll see women bring their pups and their kids to class (never in a distracting way; but rather i appreciate seeing this because it means that no matter what they WANT you there and for nothing to stand in-between bettering yourself). I can come to class with cat hair on my yoga pants and not feel like i'm being judged. Which in my life working from home, this is a priority. There are multiple different class times and locations to choose from every week day. You don't have to sign up yearly and can go month-to-month which was a big bonus to me since i work seasonally out of state for a few months of the year. You will work harder and push yourself more than you ever could on your own because you are surrounded by women that are not going to quit. That means you can't quit. Chelsey and Shane make sure to walk you through the new exercises and they look out for you and your form. If you have a preexisting injury, they will help choose alternate exercises for you. I've always been more of a runner/pilates type person and crossfit dream baes intimidated and slightly confused me. But here i am friggin' jumpin' rope, doing burpees, whirling kettlebells around and am now bringing in all my groceries in one trip because i'm getting STRONGER. These classes are so worth it. Come join us! Bonus points if you suck at jumping rope. You can come stand by me!

So much fun to visit City Park in New Orleans on the first day of Spring. (It's actually one of the…read moreplaces that I visit almost every trip to New Orleans.) The park is sprawling. Covering 1300 acres, it is one of the largest urban parks in the US. Bike trails, walking trails, museums, restaurants, sculpture gardens, botanicals gardens and an amusement park for kids. What more could you want? Love art? Check out NOMA. This is often on my agenda. Love the rotating exhibits, Newcomb pottery and collection of impressionist paintings. I use my Graycliff annual pass for reciprocal admission fees. Bonus: One of my besties works here! Want art outdoors? The newly expanded sculpture garden is so beautiful and free to explore. Frank Stella. Yaacov Agam. Beverly Pepper. Take a photo with LOVE by Robert Indiana. Don't sit on Bear with Us by Frank Gehry. Feel free to walk across the Mississippi Meaders Bridge. Take a selfie in the Mirrors Labyrinth. Love to talk a walk here. Sorry, GiGi. No dogs allowed. Love flowers? If you are lucky, you may see tulips or wildflowers. Or visit the New Orleans Botanic Garden. It's also included on the Graycliff Martin annual reciprocal pass. The garden is filled with azaleas, camellias and beds of roses. Love the native Louisiana raised vegetable beds and the butterfly garden. Sit under the oaks on a park bench or a swing to take a rest. Like art? Explore the large collection of Enrique Alfarez sculptures spread throughout the garden. Hungry? Thirsty? This is the best place to visit Cafe du Monde. No lines and the parking is free and so much easier than the quarter. Order a cafe au lait or a hot chocolate with a plate of beignets. Then grab a table with a green umbrella outside to enjoy the sunshine and the famous oak trees in the park. City Park has one of the largest collections of Live Oak trees in the world. Have a kid? Or just feel like a kid? Storyland is so cute! Created by Mardi Gras float makers, it is a New Orleans classic full of whimsy. Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Mother Goose. It is filled with fairy tale and nursery rhyme classics. Fun fact: New Orleans City Park is one of the largest parks in the US. At 1,300 square acres it is almost twice as large as New York's Central Park which is just a little over 800 square acres and does not make the top twenty for size. (But Central Park is still amazing, too!) Parking is free. Or come by streetcar. It stops near NOMA. Thanks for the free flowers on the first day of spring.

It's very relaxing and a huge plus that you don't have to go far to feel surrounded by nature. There's always plenty of space and you can easily find a place to sit and unwind. I come out here a few times a week for walks and usually on Saturdays with my run club. It's one of my favorite places in the city to reset and stay active.

It's fun, motivating, and a great bonding workout. * Thursday - Full Body Circuit: Everything comes together... strength, endurance, and conditioning. Joe is the real deal. He's a mellow, grounded Aquarius energy but don't let that fool you... he's locked in. Former arena football player, physically fit himself, and extremely goal-oriented for each client individually. He doesn't cookie-cut workouts. He actually listens, observes, and builds programs around your goals and abilities. Signing up late is no problem as long as there is space available and you can sign up on the mind body app so its easy. There are folks of all shapes, sizes, abilities, and fitness goals in the classes so you shouldn't feel shy. Joe and Natalie are awesome trainers. I do personal training with Natalie Saturday mornings and I do 2-3 50 minute boot camp classes with Joe per week. Boot camp classes consist of exercises with a box, mat, free weights, kettle bells, resistance bands, Bosu balls, gliders, and medicine balls. Each class is different. The building is a warehouse with astroturf and a separate studio area with mirrors.
