We needed work in a ceiling that had been cut out to do a/c work. The contractor left it as is. Our tenant and us, just let it go, to be fair, but now since he's moving, we had to have the work done. I had emailed and called the handyman that the property manager uses for the entire building. I thought he knew the place and since it was familiar to him, a no brainer to use him. After waiting and leaving several messages, absolutely no response whatsoever. I found Rittenhouse Handyman on Yelp. It was very easy to schedule and appointment. No hassle at all. I sent them a picture of the problem and they sent me a fair estimate. What's really amazing is that they were responsive, easy to schedule an appointment with, and they showed up and did the work as promised. They did the work and they kept their word. Folks, we know how hard it is to find good people that keep their word and stick to it. I'm amazed how easy it was to schedule an appointment. We have two other rentals in the boonies in the Sierra Foothills in California and getting people to call you back and actually show up to do the work is hell. It's literally hit or miss and we have dealt with a lot of bait and switch folks, too. They quote you one price and lo and behold, there's more stuff that needs to be done. I took a chance with Yelp to find a contractor after the four referred by friends couldn't come to…read moreour works for at least 3 months. We usually reserve this kind of work for people we know or recommended by people we trust. So, I was a little skeptical about how it would turn out. Michael definitely delivered. He showed up the next day to give a quote, sent me a quote a couple of days later, and then started the job two weeks from my initial inquiry. So the first part of this review is that he showed up in a timely manner, which was something 4 other people failed to do. He worked on our basement drywall after we had a flood. He replaced the bottom half of what was cut out, put in trim, and painted. He also built us a wall split up the giant space. It all turned out really well and I couldn't be more happy with it. My only complaint, but not enough to lower my stars, was that due to our basement set up, all the spackling sanding ended up on our first floor (there's no door down to the basement). It was everywhere. If you'll have this same issue, I'd recommend putting up some sort of plastic barrier. If you need drywall repair, give Michael a call! He also accepts Venmo, which was a plus for us.

They cut through the ceiling to get to the root of the leak issue, removed bad pipes from behind the ceramic tub, installed all new PVC pipes behind and underneath the bathtub, and also installed new fixtures, a new waste drain and overflow sysyems before closing everything up with new drywall, tiles and/or a fresh coat of paint. Reliable Workers Construction performed skillful work with reliable workers. They built and painted three window sill bookcases and installed shelves in a closet. They installed two kitchen ceiling lights and replaced most of the electrical outlets and light switches. They repaired a balcony screen door by fixing the latch and replacing the screens. They installed a microwave. They repaired an under-sink water line to the dishwasher. They replaced doorknobs and balanced a damaged door. They replaced 3 faucets and installed a bidet attachment to a toilet. They caulked and grouted wherever needed. They painted all the woodwork, walls and ceilings. And they cleaned up after themselves very carefully. The workers were unfailingly courteous, friendly and agreeable, even though I added additional work several times. When I saw a couple of things that needed to be done differently, they were cheerful and business-like without resentment. Their prices were more than reasonable. My entire experience with the workers and their work was positive and even surprising because of their superior work ethic and standards. They take great pride in doing an excellent job.
