Keep in mind that I live in Chicago - so if I need a fill when she is at this salon, I travel an hour to see her...that's how amazing she is. The salon is also beautiful, which is always a plus. Sue has gone above and beyond. I have struggled with acrylic nails lifting shortly after getting them done. Sue had the idea to try gel and the results have been amazing! Been going here for years and everyone at the salon is very friendly. Place is very clean and quite relaxing. The moment you walk in, they greet you and make you feel welcome. They are a full-service salon and has been our salon of choice. Jackie H is our girl. She always make sure that when we walk out the door that we look good and always a satisfied customer. She does an amazing job with my hair. She is hands down a master color expert. Always flexible for emergencies or any last minute hair appointments. My husband and I will not go anywhere else but Jackie fir all our hair grooming needs. She has also been there for our daughter's events year after year such as 8th grade dance, homecoming, prom and her 18th birthday party. My old hairstylist quit to stay home with her baby, so I desperately needed to find another great stylist. I'd been happy with her and didn't think I would be lucky enough to find another that was as good or better than her. Was I wrong or what?!!! I found Taryn at JD Michael's who gave me the most beautiful, buttery honey-highlights. She naturally blended them into my hair creating a lovely, soft sombre look. She cut long, face framing layers that are easy to style with a blow dryer and round brush. I cannot tell you how I LOVE my hair. She ROCKS!!! I have been looking for someone who can do LCN nails... anyone who has them knows it's hard to find a good place that actually uses the Light Concept Nail product line. It seems expensive but worth every penny! I used to go to Chelsea Tyler in Schaumburg. The owner, Denee, did a good job (not as good as Jhissel though).. and unfortunately Chelsea Tyler has bad customer service, they never care about their clients and getting them in when it's convienent. I think its because they know that LCN is a rare product, they treat their customers like WE ARE LUCKY to get into them. Well, LUCKY YOU!!! You found JD Michael Studio... and they have 3 technicians who ALL do LCN, and they were all trained by an LCN Educator who works on site! No more searching for a nail salon that uses LCN. It's a drive, but a Bakers Square is down the road .. so get your nails done and pick up a pie! :-) read more

This was my first trip to the salon. I happen to be passing by on an errand and stopped in to make an appointment for a little later with whoever had an opening. I also asked the price of a haircut and style and was told an acceptable price range for this nicer place by the receptionist. Later before heading to the appointment I checked the website and saw a different set of prices. But all in the acceptable ballpark. But after I got shampooed and was in the chair with wet hair, the stylist out of nowhere informs me that the cut and style would be higher than any other thing I'd heard before. And she also said it would be okay if I just got my hair dried and left. WHAT?? I just got there! When I pointed out the website prices, the stylist said that it was an old website. WHAT? This is their current business site. Anyway, I agreed pay the higher price. Upon settling up, I was asked if I was paying by cash or check? WHAT? Who carries checks any more?The website said they take credit cards. And I didn't have enough cash for the service intending to play with a debit card. When I was charged, it was for a lower price because someone else rang me up, and was the same gal who told me different prices to begin with. I got a great cut and style, but this price business made no sense to me. Do they provide a good service? Yes. Is the pricing clear? No. read more

I've been going here for a few years now. Thought I'd give it a shot since I was ready to make a change. I'd never had highlights before and wanted to try them to help hide my very visible gray growth coming in. I was hesitant but Laurie assured me I would love them. Well, I've been going back to her ever since. She's great and knows color very well. I go in every 3 weeks for my gray touch ups, and when I need new highlights (which is very infrequent) or lowlights when it gets too blond (mostly in the summer) she asks if I am in agreement and then we go ahead and do it. She's not pushy at all, very relaxed and has always been receptive to any concerns/hesitations. The place is clean and everyone is very friendly. I'd recommend giving it a try. read more

This is a very nice salon, and the staff is terrific. I have been going to the same nail technician, Jennifer for years and followed her here from another location. I now also get my hair done here as well. I would highly recommend Jennifer for doing your nails. She is really good at what she does, always tries to accommodate, even if it means her coming in really early or staying late to fit you in. She's the best!
