Absolutely unhinged salon experience, did not even get hair cut. Went in to get a basic mullet nothing fancy just shave hair off of the sides and a layer trim. My stylist rudley informed me that "she doesn't do mullets" (decently understandable) all while eyeing my pronoun badge mind you. Proceeded to get told they "don't do mullets" even though I saw a boy walk in and out of there with a perfect mullet before. Insanely insulted even great clips will do mullets. HORRIBLE SERVICE. ***THEY WILL THINK YOU ARE A STEALER!!!****I went to JCPenney to go buy this makeup product. I went into the new beauty section which had NO WORKERS (UNPROFESSIONAL) when I walked in. Anyways, I made my way towards the brand I was looking for. I got there and as I was picking up my product a worker showed up out of the blue and asked me questions to get help, which I appreciated. Well As I waited for my sister to come back and help me they approached me again and said "is this your favorite brand??" I said oh no I'm just picking up a product. They replied and they walked away. As I waited for my sister to come back I was browsing the store and they kept staring at me!! Making me feel like I was stealing or something. I felt so awkward and I would never steal. Once I left a section the girl went over to make sure I didn't steal anything. I'm sure the manager would be happy to know their staff is watching for that, but how freaking rude and obvious you made it! I will not be returning. I got my hair cut by a stylist here a while back. She had been cutting hair for 10 years, very experienced. Didn't try to upsell me. Overall good experience and a nice haircut, it cost $45. I went back to the same Salon but booked with a different stylist, Nevaeh, because online it showed her prices were cheaper. Nevaeh was less experienced, only cut hair for about a year. She tried to upsell me multiple times, asking if I wanted to add on things I didn't want. When it was time to pay, she charged me an extra fee for having long & thick hair (which is valid, my hair is very long & thick. But the first stylist I went to, never charged a fee for that.) so the price came out to $60. AND she cut my hair very uneven, left side is noticeably longer than the right. (and I have a feeling she knew she did a bad cut because she kept saying, come back if you don't like it). I'm just annoyed I could've got a cheaper and better cut if I went to the First Lady. But instead I got a bad hair cut that was more expensive because the shitty stylist wanted to charge me for my hair type. (I have a feeling she charged me that extra fee just to get more money which is really shitty to do to a person, especially a broke college kid like me). I would've been fine paying the $60 if it was a good hair cut but it wasn't. read more

Just in case you didn't know, JCP carries Mango, American Living, Champion, I heart Ronson, Buffalo, Joe Fresh, Soffe (you know those fabulous cheer shorts?), Riley and James (Mary-Kate and Ashley), Pearl (A lower end Marchesa), Royal Velvet, Nike, Waverly, Umbra, PANTONE Universe!!, Betseyville by Betsey Johnson, Eastlands (totally on their way back in style, prepare yourself), Converse, Asics, shit. So much more. I also think their jewelry selection is pretty groovy, and I don't like jewelry. Which could mean, it sucks, I guess. The staff is pretty friendly, especially at the checkout counter. This is about the Sephora inside JCPenny's- I know of two guys that work there- a smaller frame gentleman and a bigger frame one. This is about the larger frame guy. I never knew you could not return Sephora products bought online, to a Sephora inside a Penny's. For years in my old home town and then here in San Marcos I've been returning to Sephora inside Penny's. Anyway I went in to return some products. One of the ladies started the return until that guy said it has to be for a store credit only and I said, oh no, I'll take them back I don't want a store credit. I asked him why is that and maybe because they were busy he started to tell me to take the products put them in a box because the lil label on the bottom of the receipt was a return label and that's how I'll get my money back... I felt insulted, like no Sherlock, I now what a return label is, I know it's free shipping and guess what? I know how to mail a package, crazy huh!!. I just wanted to know why the items couldn't be refunded. Instead of being spoken to in a condescending way about how to put stuff in a box, how to stick a label on it and how to drop it off @ the post office! Rachel is extremely rude and not customer friendly whatsoever. While making a payment on my credit card, she told me and I quote "hold your horses, hold on, hold on" in the rudest way because I was already inserting my card to process it. She went on telling my girlfriend "someone's really eager." I felt as if she was trying to belittle me as a person and I do not appreciate that at all. This is my 3rd time interacting with her and hearing her remarks and I've never said anything but this was it. I do not appreciate her rudeness at all. I used to not do the department store thing. Lately it seems like JC Pennys has some great clothing for less tan a lot of oter stores, and its of better quality. Re: the hair salon here. I have gone to JCP salons for the past 4 years for my haircuts, usually just a trim or some layers/bangs. Anyways, I went last week to get a more substantial trim - 6 or 7 inches - only to find out the next day that my hair was lopsided, longer on the left, and the back was all jacked up. Another salon in SM offered to fix it for free because they felt so bad for me. Anyways, that was the "bad" part of the review. I called JCP salon to let them know what happened and to see if I could get a refund. Instead, the manager (who called me back promptly and was really nice) offered to have a mater stylist at JCP correct my hair. I hated "complaining" about my hair, but the manager Lucinda was very kind and accommodating. I really appreciated that. In the end, I'm still a little disappointed with my hair because the initial cut screwed it up (I think that's the issue) but Lucinda and the master stylist who corrected my hair (very fast...almost too fast...) were very kind and friendly and made the experience as pleasant as it could be, given that my hair is still pretty rough. I looked at my phone and it was 630 so I asked if there was time since it was 630 for a cut and she said no there was only stylist and she was w a customer. JC penny has a reputation for good personal service and nowhere is this reflected more than at this location at first when my wife and i walked in we observed how well the merchandise was displayed and how clean and tidy the store looked like it had just been opened , proceeding to the watch counter to look at some models advertised as on a special sale we looked around for a sales person to assist us nobody was to be found. after about 3 mins my impatience was beginning to show when a* senior sales* asst approached and apologized for the lack of staff to attend to our needs she informed me there was only one clerk allocated to that area ..all i can say is she made up for it by giving us the best customer service we have had in a dept store for a long long time my wife intended to buy me a new watch for fathers day so i picked out all the models i had a interest in rachel looked up all the prices and diligently keep searching until i found one a considered would be a suitable gift .it was on sale , but not for the price my wife had in mind . then came along another *senior staff *member to help with the situation. there we were personal help from two manages who by their attitude obviously enjoyed working with people and enjoyed it , we got the watch of my choosing and a further discount using JC Pennys charge card .( to be paid in full when invoice received )what a pleasure to be assisted by two understanding and pleasant personal ;-) these two staff members rachel &cheryl are a credit to the company and showed how customers should be treated with time and effort being no barrier to the goal of satisfying the customers needs because of the excellent professional and personal service we got we certainly will be back and jc pennys get a well earned 5 star rating. read more

Well, I purchased a Seiko diver's watch last week. Should have known better. The folks who work the jewelry counter are quite adept at sales, but are untrained at sizing and adjusting watch bracelets. In this case, the watch fell off my wrist within 10 minutes of leaving the store. Two pins just dropped out. Glad I was still in San Marcos and not on my way out of town. Brought it back and it literally ended up in pieces as two employees began working on the bracelet. In the end, I returned it for a full refund and this $550 watch had a bracelet in three separate pieces with missing pins and pin caps that these employees had never seen before and after the employees pulled out other pins to try to "diagnose" the problem. Very disappointed. They should never have touched the watch. I could have taken it to a proper watch place for sizing. read more

This review is for the salon inside JC Penny. The prices seemed reasonable and thought we would get a better cut than the great clip in the same shopping center. They become fussy if you say you do not want them to use clippers on a men's hair cut. At the end they rinsed and did not style. When i mentioned the sides she become very defensive and said " if i cut it shorts the hairs will just stick start out", well thats not true, he has had his hair short and it lays flat. My sister, her boyfriend and I went at about 7:30 pm last night to look for clothes. The young lady was helping us when we were trying on stuff. I go back to put back my stuff and try to grab something else I wanted to try on but before I could they just turned the lights off in the store. There was no announcement that they were going to close or we would have hurried up and got out. We were so flustered and trying to find each other in the dark. I was so mad because I had 4 pairs of shorts, 2 shirts, and 2 bras I was going to get but I wanted to try them on. So I just put all my stuff down and walked out. I thought that was very unprofessional of whoever was in charge of closing the store last night. They missed out on a lot of business they would have gotten if we knew we had to leave soon.
