Hi! Based on this recommendation on Next Door, I made an appointment with Kristy at JC Penney. I did not know they even had a salon. Kristy was there to greet me and couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. I was booked with her for color & cut ($103), but I had forgotten about high lights which I love. If I can remember correctly, 4 foils is an additional $40, and 12 foils (which I definitely needed), were only $70. The pricing is excellent, as about 4-5 months ago I went to a salon on El Paseo and the coloring with highlights (no cut) was about $450. I know, I should have asked, but I had no idea. That stylist did a nice job and was very sweet, but the coloring was not at all what I was looking for. She kindly recolored it a few days later and it was much closer to my inspo photo and what I had in my mind. Definitely talented. But I would never be able to return for touch ups due to the pricing. Anyway, back to Kristy at JCP. She was definitely on the same page as me in terms of coloring & highlights. She really listened and seemed open to suggestions. I didn't have any, she nailed it right away. Then it was cut time. I referred to my inspo photo again, and she actually improved upon it. She was always asking to make sure I liked the direction we were going, and yes we were. There was one point where I felt there might be too much volume on one side (because of my part) and suggested more layers on that side, which she happily did (there were layers all around btw), and she instantly fixed my issue. She really did a beautiful job, and I can't believe I can afford a top notch stylist in PD for a cut AND color. She's so pleasant and that girl is quick on her feet. I was not there hours and hours and hours. She is a very thorough and fast (but careful) stylist. You might get worried because she is quite speedy, but never once did she cut corners or make me feel rushed. She's just a highly experienced stylist with years of, well, experience behind her. She's super friendly and you can tell she likes her job. In fact the whole salon seemed highly supportive of each other and very positive. It was a wonderful experience, mostly because of how pleased I was with the results, and honestly I couldn't recommend her any more. Save yourself the EP prices and make an appointment with Kristy at JCP at the mall in PD. It's located on the East side of the mall, park under the structure and go in the first set of doors and it's right there. After my Stylist of 20 years retired I thought I'd never find an adequate replacement. Then by good fortune I walked into the Salon at JC Penney and met William! He far exceeded my expectations by listening and taking his time to provide me exactly what I wanted! Pleasant conversation and every gadget a Stylist can have. Never allowed himself to be interrupted and took time to clean up my neck, eyebrows....... I am 110% satisfied with every aspect of William's styling skills! I recently had a good haircut from Richard last weekend. He asked me good questions about what I wanted done and then he told and showed me specifically how much he would cut on the length. He was a good listener and gave me exactly what I asked for , a really nice haircut! I will definitely go back there again and ask for Richard. He was professional and kind and charged a reasonable price too! read more

I have heard so many positive comments about this place I have to give them 5 stars. I have not had a haircut in nine years now but that doesnt mean I cant admire others haircut. The staff are very friendly and very well trained in their craft. They have great rapport with the customer. Some stylists are great with children here. Many women go here exclusively just because of the great service. read more

Idk what I was thinking making an appointment here, but I was desperate since my normal salon was closed on a Sunday and I needed my roots done before a trip. My appointment was with Richard who they told me was good with color. I made the appointment a month in advance, knowing I had to have it done before going on vacation. When I arrived at the salon, I told him my formula (thinking it would help) and he wanted to do a color that was two levels lighter. I told him I didn't want to do that and in a very rude, nasty tone, he told me that he can't help me and that we can't communicate. I could not believe that after booking the appointment so far in advance, only wanting my roots touched up and telling him the color, he said he was unable to help me! He just walked away, leaving me at a total loss and with nowhere to go right before my trip (neither of the other two so-called 'stylists' there would help me, either). This horrible person Richard is obviously very insecure in his abilities to refuse someone who wanted something so basic. I hate the JCP salon and the manager Daryl is a wretched little urchin. Our usual place closed early on Sundays and the mall is right down the street. So glad we went because we will definitely will be going here from now on. The staff was great, so friendly! William our hairdresser did an amazing job and took his time cutting my sons thick hair ironically who is also William and was just fab with a 6 year old!!! I've been going to this salon for 2 years. My stylist left to pursue something else. I was given Sherie Price as my stylist. My first experience was my blonde hair turned strawberry blonde and brassy. Told her I didn't like it. I contacted her to reschedule a re do. Not much they could do needed to wait s few weeks. I went yesterday 6-11-2018. Still confused how to fix the problem Sherie decided to color roots then bleach. After she washed my color she kept me at sink and bleached my entire hair. And then washed-it with purple shampoo. It intensified the bleach. When she took off my towel my hair was almost white. My scalp is burnt and feels like 3rd degree burn. The worst was her attitude. Saying well your hair is blonde. It's now white, gray and and a hot mess. I look like 40 years older than I am. I will never go back. read more

I have been going to this Salon for about a year now and exclusively see Rick. Let me just say how amazing he is. He is super sweet, does amazing color, and gets me in and out faster than any other salon I've ever been too. Not to mention, you cannot beat the price. The receptionist, and I'm drawing a blank on her name right now, is also super sweet and helpful. It's so nice to see a friendly face when you first walk in. Go see William for the best wash and blow dry! He is so caring, gentle and kind. It helps that he is a perfectionist. I'm a Hispanic woman with long hair that is curly and full. I'm very blessed in the hair department. I wanted my hair sleek. He washed it and put a third of a bottle of conditioner, than he separated my hair and combed it thoroughly, he proceeded to blow dry it with such patience and gentleness. Debbie did an updo for me this last weekend for a wedding and it turned out beautiful, as well as, lasted and held up for almost 3 days which was awesome. I was kind of hesitant to use this place but I was searching on the last day before a big wedding and couldn't get myself in anywhere else but I'm so glad dear sweet Debbie answered my phone and told me how much she loved doing updos and I took a chance with her and I'm so glad that I did. I went to this salon years ago and was not completely satisfied with the work. i decided to go back recently to give it another try; 3 days ago to be exact. i asked for a red tone base and got multiple colors (looks like brown, red and purple mixed together). i also asked for partial "white' highlights and noticed she didn't highlight to the roots. also, i asked to have my daughters hair trimmed about an inch. her stylist thinned and gave her layers which is not what i asked for. i am very disapponted with this salon and after 2 tries, i will not be coming back nor do i recommend coming here. read more

I am a 'snowbird' and was just looking for a color refresh and trim until I could get home to my stylist. Without going into too much detail-I am 62 with a short blond bob--very fine colored hair. It was my good fortune to have Thom as my stylist the day of my appointment. WOW! I love my hair and have gotten compliments since my appointment a week ago. Thom took my hair color from a little brassy to elegant subtle (hi lights and low lights). He gave me a slight edgy cut and texturized so that my hair actually seems fuller. First Timer! I was in the area on an extended weekend. I have somewhat thick, curly hair and I am hesitant to walk in just anywhere when it comes to getting a cut. I swung by on a Sunday night while hanging out at the mall, and just asked for the prices. The lady who showed me the price list was very kind and friendly and said to come by anytime and give them a try. My hair was in need of re-layering (was getting the poofy triangle hair) and my dry ends were starting to split. So I came by the next day around 11. Three young ladies were at the counter, and all greeted me and said hi. Clearly it wasn't busy and it was nice that they all acknowledged me. The receptionist asked if I wanted to make an appointment for now, and I said yes please to which she responded with a melodious "Delicious!" They were all quite fun to be around, given it was just a boring Monday and I wasn't in a high end salon in Los Angeles. I was assigned to Blanca for my cut. Blanca was just as kind as the other 3 ladies. She asked me what I wanted and if I wanted a wash/condition. When I thought about it, she smiled and said "It's included, so it's up to you!" I've been nickel and dimed at salons before, so her honesty was welcome! She asked me how hot I wanted the water, which was another nice touch. When it came to cutting my hair, she said she could see it was fringed before and explained what that meant. She asked me how I usually wear my hair before starting my layers, so she knew how drastic I wanted them cut. When she did finished up my layers, she asked if I wanted my hair thinned out instead of just assuming, which I also appreciated! She asked what kind of styling product I wanted to finish my 'do, if any, instead of putting a bunch of gunk in my hair like other places tend to do. She never tried showing off all kinds of fancy items or trying to push their products on me. She briefly mentioned if brittle hair was a problem, I could try their deep conditioning treatment which lasts 30 minutes, or try a leave in conditioner at home. AT. HOME. :D I am so glad I stopped by on a whim and gave JCP a shot! I truly was pleasantly surprised and Blanca was more than a pleasure. read more

I would highly recommend this salon, my stylist is Tom and he is like a celebrity stylist!!! He always does my color and highlights to perfection, exactly what I want and I get compliments all the time. The main reason I initially stopped going was because I made an appointment and came in on time but then the stylist took a walk in right before my appointment. I wasn't late either maybe slightly early even. I waited for a good half hour before I decided that it was ridiculous when I was the one that made an appt. some of the other stylists have also been rude in the past. I tried to give them a second chance today but the receptionist was so rude on the phone that I'm just going to forget it. I'm just done. Such bad customer service here. read more

Took my 8 yr old son yesterday to get a cut, $14 for a kids cut. As we got home, I see the little spots that were not cut. I should of just taken him to barbershop. They would of cleaned him up good on the edges. I guess that's the difference from a salon n barbershop. I will never take him back there! read more

Be very selective about who you see here. I took my granddaughter here for a color in her hair. After almost 5 hours in the chair her hair was ruined. Original color was striped then two colours later her hair is still greenish grey at 15. What a mess. The only person with any concern for us was the lady at the reception desk. I want to thank Thom for "correcting" a weave job gone wild. In February, I went in for a weave and came out yellow and orange. The next day I was handed over to Thom to try and correct another stylist's error. He toned down the yellow, got rid of the orange and recut my hair. My hair needed a short break to recover from all the processing so I went back three weeks later for what I can now say, "was a wonderful surprise." He spent an inordinate amount of time with me to try and get my hair back to something that looked like it did before but, without the gray. Thom cares about his clients, treats them as special and, gives you his total attention. If you need a cut or color, whether in your hair or in conversation, give him a call. His passion for perfection and, the satisfaction of his customer, is a wonderful thing to see read more

I will never go to the Westfield salon again,I finally got the nerve to cut my very long hair because it was thinning out and other issues and figured I'd take some weight off it,I have had a picture of the style I wanted for over a year so I was looking forward to a new look,The salon was empty and the receptionist was looking for a stylist to take me the fist girl she asked said nothing she was not interested,then another walked up and looked like she was being bothered but finally took me( I had bad vibes and should have walked out right then) I showed her the picture she kept repeating that if I wanted layers she'd need to blow dry my hair I told her I don't ever blow dry my hair,( was this an issue?) I wanted the length longer than the picture,but it was shorter,I wanted layers but when she was done I had to ask her to layer it more,again she mentioned blow drying it,the picture was with bangs and short layers on the face,definately did not get that,my hair looks the same except shorter,she was so distracted not at all confertable with what she was doing,I just left after paying my bill,I am not happy and can't wait for my hair to grow to get the style I wanted,again I am mad at myself for not walking out,both those girls looked like they wanted to be anywhere else but at work,not very professional,there definately was something else on her mind then was she was doing. read more

Rachel is AMAZING!!! I had a bad experience with a hair stylist back in 2002, I have been cutting my own hair ever since. I had shoulder length, thin and fine hair after my gastric bypass surgery. I had to cut out a massive knot out of the back of my hair. It was terrible i looked like that girl in sixteen candles who got her hair caught in the door only it was thin. I called JCP on Black Friday, and explained to the manager my situation he knew right who to place me with... Rachel. I was nervous and worried. She put me right at ease. She cut my hair in stages to ensure I would be comfortable with the length. She and the other stylists were nice and supportive. I would highly recommend this salon for their products and professionalism but I definately recommend Rachel! She was creative, talented, and made me look amazing. I am not a short hair kind of girl, but I am extremely happy with my hair.... So is my husband!! Thank you Rachel and JCP Salon for fixing my hair and making me look sexy and beautiful! read more
