As a JCPenney credit card holder, I'm upset that I only get to use my card once or twice a year. When I visit the store or shop online, I can't find anything in my size. The return policy is 60 days and you can't use coupons on clearance. Very disappointing they don't have many perks for card holders or good deals like they used to. read more

Not a good selections and the brands have changed with ugly clothes. Clearance need to be $5 until they get rid of all these old wintry clothes. Went and got my hair done for the first time at their salon and it was absolutely amazing my stylist with Heather. She kept me calm collected. Customer service sucks at this location! The store looks empty every time I go, hardly any people and they don't have enough people working. They moved the online pickup to the front and no one is ever there, I have to go to the regular checkout and if the line is long guess what, I have to wait. I once loved JCPenny but not anymore. This location is filthy and the ceiling is caked in black mold and water leaks. Most ceiling tiles here are completely drenched in water damage. That can really affect people with asthma. Please fix it! I will not be back until something is done. read more

Well...Penney's has been dying a very slow, agonizing, drawn-out death, and somehow this location seems to keep hanging on, though I don't know why, when no one ever answers any of the phone lines, there are next to no employees to help you inside the store, the inventory is lacking, and the store has looked a shambles for over a decade (basically since it was built). I don't see the point in this store trying to exist anymore, and I don't know how it generates enough revenue to keep the lights on. Never thought it could be such sad days for JCP, but this is one of the saddest locations you'll ever regret trying to deal with. read more

First and foremost, Ashley the manager is extremely rude and unprofessional. I visited the store and presented my Groupon upon arrival and they booked me with a master stylist after service was done they said I owe money ? Why don't you tell the customers before that they are booked with master stylists and their will be a extra fee ? I ended up paying the extra charge and left . Today I call to make an appointment and when I try to explain to the girl that I have a Groupon and I want to book an appointment what do you have available today ? She said I have a 4 PM. She said I will not have you come to this location and then hung up on me . Someone needs to see what's going on in the salon because Ashley isn't capable of her job . I was looking for a good hair stylist that could help remove my orange tones on my hair! Marina did an excellent job coloring my whole hair light ash blonde! Usually my head burns with the bleach and toner! But luckily my scalp never tingled or burned like the other salons I've been to! This is the best place I ever been to! Eh, it's ok. I've shopped at this location several times over the years. I most recently came in looking for ties and I found what I was looking for. This store generally has a good selection of men's dressy and casual items. I love all the colorful socks they carry and all the choices of graphic tees and shorts. Someone else mentioned the women's clothing being mostly for juniors and older women, and I have to agree, especially since I sometimes shop in the petites' department. It's especially hard to find anything here that isn't polyester. When I shopped for my sons in the boys' department I never had a lot of luck either and usually ended up shopping online to find the sizes or styles I needed. The dressing rooms often look like a tornado came through. Yes, a lot of that is on lazy customers, but some it falls on employees straightening things up too. I've had some great customer service, and some not so great customer service experiences here as well. But my least favorite part of this store? The lines! There always seems to be a long line and it doesn't move very quickly. Several times I've left items hanging on the racks near the registers because I didn't have the 20 minutes it takes to stand in line to buy them. read more

Got my hair done by Choung in the hair salon. This was possibly one of the worst hack-job haircuts I've ever gotten. I asked for slightly thicker bangs and she went halfway back my head and chopped without asking if it was fine. She also both cut my bangs unevenly and above my eyebrows. The layers she did on the rest of my hair was wonderful, but not worth $60. I will definitely NOT be coming here again for a haircut, and I would not recommend it to anyone else. read more

The only reason that I'm giving this place two stars instead of one is because it's not the make ups fault that it has to be sold by people who hate the world around them. Ugh...went to this JCPenney for the Sephora. I was told this was the "secret" location where I could find items that might be sold out at actual Sephora stores. Anyway, I show up and two employees are doing each other's makeup and one is assisting a customer. I was not greeted. No biggie, I knew what I wanted. I go to the counter and proceed to wait for 5 minutes for the girls that are doing each other's makeup to realize they were on the clock and should probably start working. Anyway, they ring me up, bag my stuff, no samples included (which STINKS because I love all the samples I usually get at Sephora), and send me on my way. They didn't even thank me or say "have a good day" or any obvious choices from a retail sales associate. Anyway, I sent a complaint to Sephora and they said that the branch would reach out to me to apologize for their wrongdoings. They didn't. This was over a month ago now. I'm never going to this Sephora again. I don't care if my stuff is sold out at the mall. It's not worth the terrible service! read more

My husband and I went to this JcPenney on 02/17/23. Unfortunately, we had a very negative experience when we were profiled by a store employee. I am white and my husband is black. This dish water blond lady followed my husband around the store, literally behind his back. Then, while my husband waited for me to checkout, with nothing but his cellphone and keys in his hands, the lady stayed behind him, watching him. Then she came and pushed past me in the line and went up to the cashier and dangled a shirt in front of the cashiers face while she told her something. The cashier acted really weird the entire time she was checking me out. I had a little purse with me, I am not sure where they thought either of us could put something to steal. This is a very degrading experience. We have lived in Gilbert for 23 years, we hold prestigious positions at our jobs, and I am a Gold Card holder with JcPenney, I have been for years. There was no reason for that lady to treat us this way. Since this is the way JcPenney chooses to treat their customers of color, we will not be returning to their store and I will be closing my Gold Card account with them. It's unfortunate that they have such closed minded people working for them. We gave them no reason to treat us this way other the color of my husband's skin. read more

I went to this portrait studio because my parents & I were all visiting my sister from out of state. The woman Emily I believe her name is who works here, is a magical I think. I have an often moody child. She's adorable but I've been 4 times for photos & never had a really great one in the past. My child came in grumpy. Emily cheered her up & got the most amazing smiles out of her. Actually the cutest photos I've ever had in her life. I'm so grateful for her. I might have to keep driving here for family photos from now on. If you make an appointment & have kids I'd definitely check if she's working that day. My husband and I took our 14 yr old son shopping for his birthday (he loves the pants from JCPenney) and as he's trying clothes on in the men's fitting room I hear " OMG OMG OMG" as we ran in to see what was wrong he was sitting on the little bench in the filthy fitting room holding up one of those theft devices they have on pants, he's holding the end up that has the thick pin he tells us as he was trying pants on he stepped back and didn't see the pin because it blends with the floor he stepped all the way down on it blood all over his foot. I sat there trying to calm him down because he's so upset as I'm in there with him my husband goes and tells the young man folding clothes what just happened and all that kid did was say "oh" set the device down and walked away. So I then went to the front of the store to talk to a manager, the woman who called the manager up to the front felt so bad I could tell in her expression and as the manager approaches the woman shows her the pin my son stepped on and then I start to explain to her what just happened and the first thing she tells me is " that should be on the clothes " AMMMM YA I KNOW THIS! That's why I'm so upset the employees are obviously not doing their job cleaning up the rooms. I told her there was other pins and stuff lying around in there and they need to clean it up. She said sorry and that she would get a band-Aid and Neosporin she went to the back and took a while we ended up not waiting because My son is in pain not wanting to wait to get anything but out of that store. So As we leave my sons limping out and as he walks past the guy we told first about the incident the guy just looks at him not asking if he is ok. Really the decency of people at this location is so disappointing. I would rate this location a negative if I could. We will never return to this location and I do not recommend people trying anything on in those fitting rooms unless they inspect it first. read more

I appreciate JCP for the kids clothes and specifically the kids plus sizes. At this particular location, we've always received good, friendly service. The checkout area is typically busy, but moves fairly quickly. The renovations that were recently done were nice. It's a comfortable store with a good variety of items and nice sales. The one area that could use some attention is the women's section. As another reviewer stated, the selections there are pretty frumpy. read more

Just stopped in to find some work slacks and a few polos. I saw a patient worker named Beatrice re-folding the clothes that the JCPenney shoppers had left a mess. She never complained and always asked individuals if they needed assistance very calmly. I watched her do this for a while. After asking a particular lady if she needed help, the customer said, "Well, I don't think so. Everything in this place is crap." I was quietly shocked and wanted to see how Beatrice was going to react. She said, "Oh I'm so sorry. Is there anything I can help you look for?" What?! I would have lost it! But Beatrice, the ever-seasoned customer service expert never let the comment shake her. I firmly believe when business owners contemplate the status of their business, they need to remember that although the product absolutely sells, it is the kindness and expert customer service that brings us back. Let me start off by saying that this is the most in organized, filled with grouchy managers that seemed like they hated their jobs. This review is specifically targeted for the photography department. The lady was misleading and said that it would only cost $6 which we thought would be a an awesome gift for mother's day! We later found out after waiting an hour and a half that our pictures were going to cost $64. It took them an hour and a half to compose them selves and get our pictures done after some kind customers allowed us to go before them if they didn't we would've been there until 2020. The photographer was a great kind woman but everyone else in there was absolutely rude, unkind and disrespectful. Don't recommend going there ever. read more

Wow... I will never go to this location again. So I got there about 5:30pm... the girl told me it would be a 15 min wait so I said ok that's fine. 6:35pm came rolling around I am still waiting. So I asked if they knew how much longer it would be. She told me that the stylist was just finishing up. I should have walked when I heard one of the ladies say "I DON'T CARE IF SHE WALKS" well needs less to say I did cut 3/4 of my hair length. I asked for layers and yeah I have no idea what I got. The Absolutely Worst JC Pennys of all... the store is TRASHY... Can't find Help anywhere... Big mistake coming in here...

I purchased my Sealy Mattress/Boxspring and bed frame from this Gilbert retail store in August of 2018. From the beginning, my experience has been a mess and, frankly, offensive. The sales associate promised me next day and white glove delivery (the items would be put together and set up). The items were not delivered the next day, and upon calling the sales associate, was informed that they actually would take a few weeks to come, as they were not in the Phoenix warehouse that was indicated by your sales associated. I waited 2 weeks before having the items delivered, and was contacted via the delivery service that they had 2 1-hour openings to deliver. I skipped my class to be able to let them into my apartment, to find that the mattress, boxspring, and bed frame were thrown in front of my apartment door. Upon this experience, I was told that that is how it works by this specific store manager, and there was nothing he could do. About a month ago, I rolled over in bed, and felt one of the wheels pop off of the bed frame. Shocked, I tried fixing it, only to realize the plastic was completely broken. I called the JCP store the next day. The same sales associate (shockingly, still employed) took my call. He mentioned that maybe I was too big and there was too much weight on the bed frame. Being a 130lb recovering anorexic, maybe your best bet isn't to call your customers fat. He told me there was nothing he could do and, literally, laughed at me. I was told to contact Sealy, which I did, who let me know it fell under the prevue of JCP. A few weeks later, I was sitting on the OTHER side of the bed, when the OTHER wheel popped off. I knew there had to be another issue, so I lifted up the boxspring, to find that the middle portion had completely decomposed. The wood is completely shattered. This is after only 15 months of use. I contacted JCP's warranty department and was disconnected twice, then was informed it was the home department that I should contact. I contacted the home department, and was disconnected 3 times. I am starting to sense a pattern. All JCP offers is rebuy/restock/replace. You have to repurchase the broken merchandise first, pay to have it restocked (dear god are broken items being placed on JCP stock shelves?), and then I would be reimbursed upon the items being picked up. Being that I live in a 600 sq foot apartment, I thought it not to keep broken sharp metal bed frame, so I threw it away, the rep refused to send me a new one free of charge and I am left paying $36 to replace a boxspring which lasted 15 months and left without a bed frame. I am shocked in 2019, so many individuals who represent a company can treat a customer this way (among being called fat by a sales associate). read more

But if you don't fit into the junior/old lady box, then it's hard to find something that will work. The Jean selection is horrible. The boys department is small in comparison to the girls. Went here on a Saturday for a suit after visiting Kohl's which was a disappointment. This store is very modern and uplifting. The whole mens section was clean and presentable. When I needed help Sara ended up coming by within 5 minutes. She was very pleasant and helpful. I spent a lot of money and was happy to do so. Everything is stocked well and there are lots of choices. Checkout was kinda slow but with friendly service once up there. I will be back for sure! read more
