I placed an online order with JC Penny, I paid for my order, and I was then notified that my order was ready for pick up at JC penny inside Northpoint mall in Alpharetta, GA. I arrived at exactly 7:50pm, and right when I walked in the door, the associate behind the customer service desk yelled out to me "we are closed." So I had to leave the store unable to pick up my item from the customer service desk, even though the front door has a sign that clearly states the store does not close until 8:00pm. Anyways, two days later I returned back to jc penny to try and pick up my order once again. I arrived at the customer service desk to pick up my item. The lady gave me a packaged fully wrapped up item, which I assumed was the item I had ordered, especially because it had a label with my name on it. Well I got home, unwrapped the package, and it WAS NOT the item I had ordered!! It was a comforter! I had ordered a mattress pad NOT a comforter!! So once again I had to drive all the way back up to jc penny (a 30 min drive from my home one way) to return this comforter that I had never ordered and get the mattress pad that I did order in the first place. Ultimately, I ended up getting a refund because the mattress pad I had ordered was no longer available. And to top it off, no apology from them. Ordering from jc penny turned out to be a total nightmare. Very poor customer service and a big waste of my time! I will NEVER EVER order anything from jc penny again. read more

We came in to look for a dress for my friend's middle schooler who was going to her first dance (with a boy...mm hum...). We had not had any luck finding a nice dressy dress for a 13 years old girl that didn't make her look like a streetwalker. It seemed every store that we've been to had clothes that was either too short, too revealing or both...seriously who is buying this stuff for their teenage daughter? Luckily we found Penny's. We actually were planning on going into Dillard's but the parking situation over there was too crazy so we decided to park here and walk on over there....good thing we did because within 10 minutes we were in the junior's department and found a perfectly fitting lace dress that not only did my friend's daughter like it but most importantly he mom liked it. I had picked out an item for purchase on the first floor. My mother and I walked to the mall entrance door looking for a place to pay for my purchase. There was a lady at the counters and I asked where I could pay for the purse. She said the closest place was at the other side of the store going outside. I asked again if that was the closest. She said yes and continued working behind the counters. I had my mother who has to use a walker, and there was no way I was going to make her walk to the other side of the store. Left the purchase on a table nearby and walked out with my mother. POOR customer service!! read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE NEEDS WORK! (BIGGER BRAS-YAY!) Yes, I was once a regular JC Penney shopper but mostly for their home decor. They offered wonderful bedding at great prices and some other items of interest. However, they reached a rough spot where they failed to keep up with trends, offered poor quality items and poor service. In addition, they made some very poor business decisions that helped to erode their customer base. As a result, I took my business elsewhere. This year, I rediscovered their catalog service when I ordered a very nice quality bedspread. As a woman of a particular size, it is difficult to find bras that fit and I am speaking of bras north of an F cup. However, I recently discovered that Penney's actually carries bras that go all the way up to a J cup. What?? Since when? They had great reviews and comments so I decided to place an order. Their ordering process is super easy and I like being able to have clothing items delivered directly to the store because I can purchase them, try them on and return them immediately if necessary. This saves me the hassle of having to mail them back or making another trip to the store. Here's the problem, service is simply not always efficient because of low staffing or inappropriate staffing. The sharpest employees should be assigned to the catalog department where one needs to be able to successfully multi-task and prioritize. The person that they had assigned to this department was simply not a good fit and was probably better suited for the dressing room area. After waiting forever while she was actually on the phone, I had to request (three times) that she call for assistance. Finally, someone came to provide assistance. This store is simply incapable of handling more than a couple of customers at a time.because they are not accustomed to volume. When you only service a couple of customers per hour, just one extra will throw you off your game. I think that they just need to get rid of their stores and go with well staffed catalog centers because this is probably their bread and butter these days. As you can tell by the reviews, in-house shopping is super frustrating and something to be avoided. I actually recommend their on-line services for unique and sometimes difficult to find items because they often have sales and specials that include free shipping. Also, nothing beats being able to shop at your own convenience. JCPenney's is the place to go to when it comes to Levis! They have a mens Levi Jean selection unlike any other store and the prices are great!! Also during this visit we happened to check out the home section and I was really blown away!! JCP really has one of the better home sections in really anything! They have fantastic selection and brands and the prices were really the best (*We just purchased a Kitchenaid blender 2 weeks ago from Bed, Bath and Beyond and JCP had it for $15 cheaper!!!) Avoid this Sephora at all cost! The woman working there named Smita or something like that is horrible! I spend about $100 at this location and asked for a sample, which was a joke as she was trying as hard as possible to avoid giving me a sample. Poor customer service. I used to enjoy shopping here but I don't like the recent changes. I couldn't find a place to pay for my items and there were other customers wandering around trying to do the same thing. I finally found an associate who told me to go to Customer Service by the front door. I did that but no one was there. I had to find this associate again and she "sighed" heavily like I was being a pain and tracked down Lana and told her to "handle me". I had to wait while Lana's supervisor gave her some information about some other associate that was assisting someone with a prom dress. Lana wrote all over my receipt with a red sharpie, about how to let her boss know what a great job she was doing, and started to put the receipt with wet red sharpie on it, in with my clothes. Less people carrying clip boards, more people at checkout! Don't make me circle the store over and over to buy from you. I saw several people put their purchases down and leave. We had our Christmas photos taken there on 22 Nov 14. Photos were fine, nothing great, but what you would expect from JCPenny. However, when it came to purchasing photos, we just wanted a CD and had a 40% off coupon. The staff (to include the manager) would not accept the coupon because we were not purchasing hard copies of the photos. In addition, the coupon had a reduce sitting fee which they did not honor. Lastly, one of the promos being run was free photo cards with any purchase. Needless to say, we were never offered the free photo cards. We tried calling the manager and they would not move on price. We are already disputing the charge with our credit card company as we did not receive the product at the correct price. We have usually used a private photographer in the past and while they are more expensive, they are well worth it. LAST TIME WE EVER USE JCPENNY OR ANOTHER FRANCISE FOR PHOTOS! read more

This wasnt the best visit. I was looking for pillows. and while everything was on sale, nothing was in the right palces... Wehn i finally was able to match the tags with the products none of the pricing was correct so when i got the register what i thought was adding up to about 60 dollars added uo to almost a hundred even with a 15% coupon. Nothing rang uop the correct price and even on a set of sheets that said $24.99 and 40% off they ran up $26.99??? and the lady didnt seem to understand why i asked her to take them off... New pricing structure has clothes dropping after a fixed period of time - tags are updated on Friday's. The sales tags are color coded - white is the regular price, red is the first round discount and blue is the final offer. While I can't crack the mathimatics behind the blue tagged items - I have picked up some nice quality items in the $5 to $12 range. In the men's section this means navigating between house brands, private label and national brands. Blue tag pricing seems to beat TJX stores. Worth a rummage if you are in the area. read more

Took them 20 minutes to tell me they didn't have pants in my size. Clueless staff in men's dress area. What took them so long was after they went to check my pants size he rung up customers instead of taking care of my request first. I have used the portrait studio here for the past three years, but after my most recent experience, I won't be back. Staffing has changed and they need to learn customer service skills, let alone photography! We waited more than reasonable for a scheduled appointment, only to be rushed through the photo session (with one child) in under 5 minutes. The photos turned out either blurry or incorrectly positioned, so our choices were limited. Even the salesperson who looked over the photos on the computer with us pointed out the blurry ones (she wasn't the photographer). We went ahead an ordered holiday cards in addition to a few sheets, but the photo cards came back much darker than they appeared on the screen. I've done better myself when scanning a photo to a CVS. The last straw was that the photos sat there 3 days after they came in and no-one called to notify me (I tried calling them, but their phone wouldn't pick up). Then, I waited 25 minutes at the counter to pick up without even so much as a glance in my direction before I had enough and complained. Will not be back, which is unfortunate for a repeat customer. read more

Flabbergasted! Management needs to explain this. I was finishing my transaction at the Sephora tonight. It was 9:03pm when I attempted to exit through the main entrance into the mall. The doors were locked. I understand this, it's closed, you don't want anyone else coming in. There were still people shopping in there. Couldn't get out. No one around with a key to let me out. (Needed to go that way, I was parked right across from the American Girl shop.) I asked an associate who I had to go looking for, (again, no one at the door), and she told me I had to exit through the Juniors Dept. "Okay," I thought, "no biggie." Except that the exit is to go outside on the OPPOSITE side of the mall from where I am parked. No security guards, no escorts. I am alone. So, JC Penney's, your "after closing" policy is to tell unaccompanied women to exit your store through an outside entrance? Your policy requires women WHO ARE ALONE to walk through a dimly lit parking lot and dark, wooded area, with no visible sight line, passed creepy lurkers and also have to walk halfway around the outside of the mall, to get to her car? IS THAT RESPONSIBLE? What ownership would you assume had anything happened? You basically handed a possible victim right into a dangerous situation. What if I was disabled in anyway? Handicapped? Good management would plan ahead for the evening shifts and have someone at the entrance unlocking the door for people who want the safer option of walking through the well-lit areas of the mall to get to their cars. Same person letting the shoppers out would also be able to keep people from coming into the store! Sounds like a reasonable option! And you'd be covering your own butts at the same time by avoiding a lawsuit from someone who may not have gotten to their car safely. Safe to say I was angry enough to GUARANTEE that I will no longer shop at this location. If it's a company-wide practice, then the company has lost a valuable customer. Absolutely disgusted by the lack of judgement, discernment and care that you have demonstrated to your customers. THINK, PEOPLE!!! We use the photo studio inside the JC Penney's quite often (it's very good by the way, ask for Nikki) and usually when we are done, we will walk around the store and see what they have going on. Probably the best thing that we have noticed so far is that they have some good prices on their baby clothes, especially on their clearance racks. I don't remember the exact brands now, but the wife got some really good stuff for next to nothing although the baby is going to have to grow a little more before he can wear it,LOL. I've also looked at some of their dress clothes for men and their prices for those are competitive also. The only problem that I have with this store is that on a few occasions when we have wanted to pay for something, it's hard to find a cash register that has someone behind the counter. First of all let me say this, I was very disappointed . Well the way it started, was not great. The photographer not introduced himself. He was sitting instead of looki at customer and full attention describe everything, , it was not like that... There was no little set up space to change for baby. He showed the space not even help to set a table so i can change my daughter... My husband and I had to move furniture to set it up... then honestly all the family photo which were only very few like five total and It didn't look great.. I thought u take enough pictures to pick the best ones. either my husband look bad or I looked not good or our daughter was not smiling... that's why you take at least 10 photos then delete bad ones. SO one comes out great but That did not happen... it seems like he was not trying and not paying attention to all of us..... I was pissed off because I already changed my daughter outfit by the time i saw the pictures.. worse photography ever... the guy was nice during taking pictures but as far as handling customer service and putting enough time taking pictures and edit not good at all!!!!.I expected alot more in north point mall.. so do not waste ur time going and ur money and there was no mirror there which is crazy.. .. dont even buy groupon as well in that location.. read more

I recently purchased a portrait package for my newborn grandson. I asked for a progressive package and was shown a package that seemed to be a good one. However, after sharing the gift with my daughter, I realized the package was good for only one sitting. Two ladies worked with me and convinced me the package was what I wanted, but there was nothing "progressive" about it. My daughter contacted the salespeople who worked with me, and exchanged the package for gift cards which would be applied to the "progressive" photos. I am disappointed for having allowed two salespeople to take advantage of me by misrepresenting the product. As a result, I do not plan to deal with JC Penney again.:( read more
