Joined the gym to use the pool for surgery rehab and then found out they had Pilates. Pool construction started shortly after I joined so focused on just Pilates. You have to pay additional to get one on one Pilates training or group Pilates classes. There's no incentive to have a membership and pay for Pilates. $80+ a month membership plus anywhere from $75-$90 per session to train with a Pilates instructor one on one. Talked to the manager about it and they're just focused on personal training. Found another option to work 1:1 with a Pilates instructor so cancelling gym membership all together. The population of the gym is older and these members could benefit from easier access to Pilates training. It is such a beneficial exercise routine for functional fitness. Other thing: Women's hot tub is often inoperable. read more

A great building. Abundant staff but noses in cell phones rather than making a presence. One trainer turns blaring music on his phone, grunts for everyone to hear and drops his weights. A 70 yr old friend signed up, her trainer had her stepping up and down on 3 platforms - hurt her knees. Screaming kids in locker room. Complaints from members not being able to use hot tub (when it works) because of kids playing in it, pushing the jet buttons, leary of urine contamination. Showers can be messy. Parking spaces devoted to families that sit empty 95% of the time. Seems to be lacking leadership. read more

Eager to find a gym not too far from home and interested in taking a bigger step into Denver's Jewish community, my husband and I toured the JCC. Impressed by the friendly staff, cleanliness of the facility, art in the well-appointed "amenities included" locker rooms, we joined on the spot. We appreciate that there are gobs of fitness classes offered at no additional cost, but wish more of them were offerred when we work out in the evenings. There's a wide variety of equipment, barbells, balance balls and other accouterments, easily accessible because the place is lively but not crowded. There are tennis courts on the complex and we're told that efforts are in place to make classes available to Sports & Fitness members at a reduced cost. Looking forward to that! The JCC has massage therapists and personal trainers onsite. We love working out with Sharon, our trainer (okay, she kinda kicks us in the tush but we'll be grateful in a few more weeks when we start to see the results of our labors). I especially appreciate having EVERYTHING I need to shower and get ready for where I am going next at my fingertips and included in my membership. I don't often use more than a towel or hairdryer but it's reassuring to know that if I forget something, all I need is in the locker room. The JCC Sports & Fitness Center has a very friendly feel to it. You'll feel it as soon as you meet Teri, who will probably be your tour guide and will get you signed up for your membership. The woman's locker room sauna,hot tub,steam rooms are absolutely decaying. Showers moldy. JCC,won't update the Woman's locker room or monitor it. Actually it should be called the children's room. It is not monitored. Young children running and yelling all over. Jumping in and out of the hot tub. Yelling in the showers. Dirty towels everywhere. Dirty carpet, cracked tiles. Woman's locker room needs to be gutted and totally remodeled. Especially, for the fees,they charge. And make it a rule. Woman's locker room means adult woman only. There is a children's locker room available, the mother's ignore that and let their children run wild. I've complained. Noting is done. Outdoor pool needs more shaded areas and more seating. Then, there is one lady and her caretaker who comes in around 7 pm, takes over the steam room with all kinds of potions and lotions and loud language. Prices and annual dues are out the roof. Classes are limited in times and date. If your a working person. Very few classes, no classes on Friday. Close early. Too many holidays, it's closed. They want the public money, but close on Jewish holidays. Just being honest. read more

OY VEY!!! I've worked out at a few JCC's around the country, and this one is definitely towards the bottom of that list-big disappointment.... This is primarily for the fitness center side of the JCC, the kids programs that they have are, in my opinion, a fair amount better in almost every regard. I really don't know how this place gets away with the prices they charge. The facility is OK, small and pretty much windowless and uninspiring. The equipment is fine and generally there's not much of a crowd. The workout area is very choppy, not well laid out, and there's not much room in general. Sad thing is, I think it was recently remodeled and they just missed the mark. The hours are pretty decent. The regular membership is expensive for what you get, and the tennis facilities are a separate deal for an additional cost....what a pain! It's too bad, I think this place has a lot of potential, but not for what they are trying to charge! If you are looking for a place to workout, I would keep on looking! read more

The JCC is a wonderful gym and fitness center. The people there are always smiling and helpful, the gym is impeccably clean and the amenities are exactly what you need, and don't make you feel hoity toity. Clean towels, good shampoo, conditioner,lotion, etc. and even a fresh pot of coffee in the lounge. Some chain gyms make me feel like a lab rat running in a hamster ball. The JCC doesn't. It's got colors on the wall, all the machines and weights I could ever dream of, a nice class schedule, and reasonable hours. I mean, it's not open 24 hours a day... but... I could live without all the nudity in the locker rooms, but hey! If I'm 80 and still feel that comfortable with my body I'm gonna rock it out naked in the locker room too. Prior to Covid, the JCC ceramics studio was a fun, collegial community of artists. Under the new management, it has become a clay sorority rampant with favoritism, cliques, and powerful clay Karens. The classes are mediocre at best with instructors frequently going MIA, not showing up or disappearing to attend to personal issues. (Just try and get your free bag of clay!) The management blames students for bad fiscal and inventory management and takes to badmouthing previous instructors whenever there is a complaint. But, the worst part is the patently unfair registration processes. There is not "right of first refusal" so students are regularly bumped from the classes they have been attending in favor of sorority sisters who get to pre-register for any class they want. They get priority registration at the same cost as everyone else, too! Management promises the registration processes might be fair in the future, but not so now. So if you are looking for a community, a safe place to explore your creativity and expand your skills, definitely look elsewhere. read more

I've been going to this gym for about a year now and couldn't be more happy. I have a 24 hour fitness pass because sometimes I like to go to the gym late. They only stay open till 7 on Sunday's and I think 8 on weekdays. This gym has all the necessary equipment and classes. The one thing that puts them above the rest is their shvitz (sauna) and steam room. They also have a pool that uses salt instead of chlorine. The sauna and steam are separated by sex and I really enjoy this. They Russians keep it so authentic and I love that. The place is clean and kept extremely sanitary. The staff is really friendly. They recently changed their body wash and shampoo which is far better in my opinion. They members are also really nice Something else I'd like to mention is the fact that they are never too busy but always able to accommodate the amount of people there. read more

Overall seems to be a nice facility, my review is mainly concerning the pool. We went around 6pm on a weekday, the ladies locker room was pretty messy/ crazy and gross by this time. My daughter and I happen to go during a same sex swim (women only) however there still seemed to be men and boys around so I'm guessing that's not strictly enforced. The walk from the locker room to the outdoor pool was extremely humid like hard to breath humid, maybe this is due to the indoor pool idk. The outdoor pool which is a saltwater pool was refreshing but felt dirty/gross like it had been used hard that day or something. We didn't stay long, may return just for the saltwater pool but unlikely. read more

I am not a member but recently enrolled my kiddos (2 and 4) in swim lessons here. I couldn't be happier! The staff is warm and friendly, greeting my family with smiles and hellos every time we come. The swim instructors are great. My 4 year old was previously in lessons through Denver Parks and Rec, and this program was better for us. We saw her start swimming independently very quickly. The saltwater pool is so much nicer than chlorine. Facilities are well kept and clean. Highly recommend! read more

The JCC's new Salt water pool is amazing!

I love this place -- I was a member when I was pregnant and with a little baby, then took a hiatus and belonged other places, but never felt the great atmosphere anywhere else. Age ranges here are tremendous - childcare to elderly, love the hot tub, eucalpytus steam room is great. We mainly joined for the incredible pool in the summer, but I find myself enjoying winter Sunday mornings here just as much. Love their spin and pilates. This place is an institution in Denver. Quite honestly, I don't know how they manage to stay open. There are lots of great activities and events that go on. The fitness center is ok. Nothing too good. It's pricey, and it doesn't offer many things found in other gyms. The biggest thing keeping me from writing a stellar review is hygiene. The locker room and showers are disgusting! The people that clean the place work hard. It's not their fault. The management at the JCC is just so piss poor. read more

I love this gym. I come into town every few months and use their facilities. The staff is always super nice and helpful. Classes are a great with a wide assortment if options. I'm further impressed with the facility - it's well kept, everything is is great working order, and again lots of options. As another poster mentioned, the swim lessons offered by the JCC were a total waste of money. Inexperienced instructors and a total of about 15 minutes in the pool per lesson. After an entire summer of lessons last year, my son still didn't even learn basic swim skills. A complete waste of time and hundreds of dollars. read more

The weird thing is that we signed up for this, noone ever got back to us, so we gave ourselves a self directed tour because ultimately we wanted to enjoy the pool. BOO on this place for ignoring our email and not helping us, making us do it ourselves. But YEA on this place for your fabulous pool when it's hot here. We're going to take our freebie next 2 days, we are here for a couple of months, maybe then TRY to find someone in this facility who cares and can help us. I have been a member of the JCC on and off for almost 25 years. The new management has made it more "corporate" and much less community oriented. The massive renovation of the locker rooms (which closed them for 3 plus months) is very disappointing. The new lockers are not long enough for women's clothes, and are poorly designed. The new locks are difficult for the older members to manipulate. The mirrors are too high and the whole play has a very "cold" feeling. The HVAC system doesn't work well and the gym is too hot for exercise. If I didn't have a lot of friends there, and the outdoor pool is great, I would definitely leave. read more

This place. Is a joke! The women's locker room has holes in the carpet patched with duct tape, holes in the walls, the grout in the showers is black! Only one TV in the locker room and the remote is held together with duct tape. Half the lockers are not lockable and the woman's locker room is in desperate need of a fresh coat of paint. The locker rooms are disgusting. They only have one studio and it is filled with various equipment for all their classes, this causes extreme crowding when your class is full. I guess they don't have storage space. On the cardio machines they do not have the individual tv screens like other gyms, they have the TV's mounted up above so that you are forced to cram your neck to look up. People are always changing the channel. They do not have a regular newsletter or send out a weekly email to inform members about new classes or if they cancel classes, about up and coming specials. Instead they tack up fliers so if you don't read all the junk on the walls you don't know what is going on. The walls are papered with sorts of fliers advertising everything. They do not appreciate their members. Parking is nonexistent during peak hours. Don't waste your money on this gym, go elsewhere. Too expensive for what you get! read more

I love having a Jewish facility, but the JCC is most poorly run facility I've ever experienced. The kids programs are far, far more expensive than anywhere else and the quality is so-so. Recently I tried to sign my kids up for a 3-hour/day, one week camp put on by an outside company. IF you were a member of the JCC, they ONLY charged you $40 more per kid than any other facility hosting the exact same outside company to put on the exact same camp. And the JCC kids day camp is frankly subpar. Very poorly run and not what it is advertised to be. The administration seems to have tenure....they could care less what you think. read more

The facility is nice as are the people but it is unfortunate that the I was informed one price when I called the center and another when I arrived. The person handling my inquiry was dismissive and inattentive. I really enjoy going to the JCC. The machines and equipment are always available, never too crowded. I love the saline pool. It is so much nicer on my hair, skin, and swim suits than traditional chlorine pools. I also like the fact that they give you big towels and the locker rooms are big and you don't feel like you are changing on top of the person next to you. There are a lot of activities going on especially children and families so sometimes it can seem like a ton if kids running around but they never get in my way. I also like that it really feels like a community where you recognize people everyone you go there. read more

Alot of exceptional qualities to this gym. First is customer service, friendly and professional staff that offers to fix anything you find wrong. For example, the pool clock was not working and I like to time my swims. They got a new clock immediately. I am a swimmer and really appreciate the salt water pools as opposed to chlorine. Big plus and outdoor heated pool open year round. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is that the decor is a bit antiquated and can use updating but would rather pay a reasonable monthly fee than more to update the place! The JCC has been around a while and could use a contemporary touch. Nice people and clean facility makes this a great place to work out! read more

Really wish I had looked at the water before getting in, got a nasty bacterial infection because they don't clean their pools very often. Walked in with my kids (WHO DIDN'T GET IN THANK GOD) only to see the staff oggling each other, too busy to pay attention to all the other children in the water. Disgusting. Never going back. read more
