This is long-winded, but I promise, it makes sense in the end. Let me just say that I spent several…read moreyears looking for a new barber when I moved to Roseville a number of years ago. Sure there are many barbers at those "Chains", but universally, they are all under-trained and under-talented. Even some barbershops closer to my house have a ranging group of barbers in attendance on any given day. But you are pretty much rolling the dice going to these places. Now that being said, I have long since accepted that I have a challenging, cowlick-ey, thick ,fast growing hair (not doing too bad for 54 years old). The only way to cut my hair properly was blades on the sides, and scissors on the top, along with thinning my hair with these wacky scissors that are a blade on one side and a comb on the other. Every time a local barber cut my hair, it sucked and three weeks later i would try to hit up my old barber in the east bay, to fix the mess. She was trained both as a barber and as a hair stylist and could cut both my sides with blades, and my top with scissors. And I asked her what was I doing wrong. she said that most barbers only cut hair with blades and this was the fundamental problem for me. Every time, they would do like 3 in the side and 5 on top. Shave the transition and then call it a day. And 7 days later I always started looking like a mushroom. Anyway, during Covid19, I happened to find Janelle's shop quite accidentally and i quickly contacted her via her old website and said I had questions. She replied quickly. I asked if she could cut both blades and scissors and explained what my old barber had said. She told me she has training and skills in both blades and scissors, and agreed this is a common problem. She setup an appointment for a few days later(apparently she is/was quite sought after). The first time she took her time, cleaned up the bad cut from before, and did it bang-on. The second time I could wait my usual 5-6 weeks to get another haircut, and then she even commented on how much hair she had to cut. That's when I knew she was doing it right. And then I got cancer. And had chemo. And basically lost my hair. It grew back, but now i had even more cowlicks that had even more wavy hair in patches. But Jenelle never cut it wrong, and always rose to the challenge. Just now I needed cuts every 4 weeks pretty religiously. So basically, she is the best barber around. She is also one of the nicest people I know. And you will not be disappointed getting your hair cut by her. Even if you have crazy hair like mine.

Five and a half years in and I see no changes being made because I always leave very happy with my…read morebarber!
