Our house was built in the mid 1940's, we had a problem with paint bubbles on the siding, we tried scrapping and sanding down to the wood. After much labor and hiring out to sub-contractors to help us and then find ourselves getting screwed over by unreliable workers. We decided to go in another direction and replace the siding with Hardy board siding. We interviewed a few contractors, and JC Siding was one of those who came to see me. I decided to choose James Cantrell and his company because he presented himself as a man of his word. The other reason was because he is local and represents our working community in Kitsap County by employing our friends and neighbors. I was also very impressed that not only does James employ others but has made JC Siding a family business with his son and daughter working for the company. I also did some research and found very good and great reviews consistently from his past customers. These are the reasons I chose to go with JC Siding to replace the siding of my home and to paint the siding with my Sherwin Williams paint that I had already purchased. James gave me his bid in May of 2021 and he stated at that time that he was four months out, which meant September at the earliest that they would be able to start. September rolled around and we were informed that there would be a delay because of supply shortages and more rot issues with other homes, causing more unexpected repairs causing delays for my house. I knew it was out of their control and I would just have to be patient and wait until spring. I knew with winter coming, there was no way we were going to get the siding replaced this year, and I was ok with that. It was nobody's fault. On 11/15/21 we get an email from James that they were ready to start the work on our house. He had someone pick up my paint and then take it back to their shop and paint the siding and cure the paint. Then his crew came to my house to remove the old siding and replace it with James Hardy Board siding. His crew were very hard working and respectful. They put in a full day every day, working with headlamps on into the evening, just to make sure my property was clean before they left each day. I could no believe how much could get done by his crew by working in bad weather and painting around the weather with the use of outdoor heaters to dry touch up paint. The quality of the workmanship was excellent along with the attention to detail. James was great to work with, he designed a new front porch and awning and replaced our old run down porch. This improvement transformed the look of our whole house, it is amazing! Karen and I are in awe of how our home has been transformed. We purchased a house that needed new siding and gutters at the onset of the pandemic. When we couldn't get any other contractor to return our calls, let alone give us a bid for doing the work, James came through as a shining exception. He answered his phone, and came to our house within a few days to meet with us. When his crew was available to do the work, they did an exceptional job. We also had them prepare a large opening in one of our exterior walls in which we had a NanaWall installed. The NanaWall installers indicated they had rarely seen such quality prep work. we replaced three large picture windows that were not put in properly the first two times. James made many good suggestions as to how to make the project work. They found hidden rot while they were in the process, showed it to me and fixed it at no extra charge. They even added small details to the finish paint that were beyond the contract. Awesome, showed up day I called to asses water damage from a roof leak that went in towards the house structure. Received bid and were working on it the next week. I was so relieved they could fix the rotted wood, put Siding on and paint. All done in less than 2 weeks! Very attentive, cleaned up and removed all debris and trash from work site.
