I have been considering having my brows done, but hesitant because I didn't feel I would be the right candidate for micro or tattoo brows. In time I realized I need to try something because my make-up routine was taking too long. Then by researching nano brows came up and I really liked Jocey's work through her Instagram stories and post. She quickly messaged me and I thought why not give it a try. Jocey is not close to me, but I am so happy I did the drive. I LOVE my brows, all who see it believe that I got threading done only, they don't realize it's not my normal brows! A huge compliment to Joceys great work that it looks natural! I appreciate her fixing the uneven and thinning look of my brows. I look forward to my touch-up visit. She's so easy to work with. I have already recommended her to friends!

Okay past over due in writing this review but am not late. Let just say Joyce is the best!! I love my brows I got them done about 12weeks ago and sill looking great and no more shading them in for me. I have a scar on my right eyebrow and the way it looks even and natural with my other one is great. If you are looking for a great place to go this is it! DAY 1 - right after Joyce worked on my brows. SO good

IN LOVE WITH MY NEW BROWS! I seriously never thought I would get my eyebrows done because I was honestly scared of the commitment, BUT, let me tell you when I found out JCBrows is now offering nano brows I caved. I got lip blush from her before so I already trusted her and admired her technique. I was excited about nano brows because of its natural strokes that look like your brows. It was my first time getting permanent eyebrows done so I was a little nervous but she made me feel at ease, going over each step and taking her time to explain what the process would be like. Once we went over the shape I wanted, Joyce then drew out the outline on my face and allowed me to check and make sure I was okay with everything then got right to it. Since nano brows isn't as invasive as micro-blading, she didn't give me any numbing but the pain wasn't too bad, plus she said it would allow the brows to heal better so I was fine with it. But, yes ended up LOVING my brows! It turned out looking super natural and better than what I expected. I'm pretty excited about not having to draw my eyebrows every single day. Can't wait for my touch-up! Thank you again Joyce!

Wow! Wow! Wow! I'm obsessed with my eyebrow and lip enchantments! So I have stage 2 cancer and losing hair and such has been a self esteem issue. But here she made me feel great. As I finally reach a good point I had permission from my medical dr to finally have these options available to me. My eyebrows finally micro bladed and I got the lip blush! So my expectations have been exceeded. Professional and clean. She's Super picky and aims for perfection She took her time and educated me throughout the process. Will say I was worried it would be so painful but in all transparency it was not. She uses a nice gel to help numb the tissues It worked well. My Cupid bow however was a little sensitive but my technician Joyce made sure I was comfortable. If you're looking for a professional, who's passionate this is the place. 10 out out 10! Thank you so much! The 1.45 hour drive is totally worth it!! You're amazing and you need to know!

I went to see Joyce today for a combo micro-blading session. The results are so beautiful! They are soft and natural looking! My brows before were so sparse and patchy. I literally use 3 different products to fill and soften my brows, yet I never got these results with makeup..I absolutely love the brush strokes, they look so soft. I feel like I look younger even. So happy. I highly recommend you see Joyce! She really takes the time to listen and gives you the results you're looking for. She is truly an artist!

I had eyebrows that aren't symmetric and I always wanted to get microblading. I found Joyce on instagram and I DM her and I made an appointment right away. I couldn't sleep a night before I was very nervous but I'm so glad I got it done. The best decision I made in my life. I love it so much I brought my mom few weeks later and she got hers done too! That wasn't enough I fell in love with her work and personality I wanted to take her course. The classes are 2 days so I decided to take it! I have 3 kids and full time job but I can't wait to work on more models! If you are thinking about taking the course you get to work on 2 models! It's good to start your instagram account and build up resume. Joyce will teach you everything you need to know. She will be there if you need help even after you complete your course. you can message her and ask questions if you need to! I just know she wants me and students to succeed. UPDATED REVIEW AFTER TOUCH UP! I haven't really seen any reviews after everything is fully healed, so this is the solidification that you should hesitate no further, and just do it! I'm so satisfied with my brows after the touch up. It feels amazing to not have to fill them in every day. Microblading & shading is the way to go! Hair strokes are still so visible, and looks so natural. It's been a little over 4 weeks since my 2nd session. THANK YOU JOYCE!

JC Brows is a must! I was nervous being this was my first time trying permanent make up. Joyce was a perfectionist and made the entire experience comfortable and professional! I've been wanting to get my eyebrows inked for quite some time, but held off due to my nit pickiness. I don't trust just anyone with my eyebrows. I used to get them waxed, even threaded, but always had to fix them myself afterwards. Perfectionist much? Yes, I know! Hehe With that being said, I decided to give Joyce a try. Luckily for me, she's a perfectionist too! I love that she is attentive to every detail. Not only do you get your brows snatched, you also get a free therapy session! I had the best convos with her. She is the sweetest and makes you feel right at home. What I also love about Joyce is that if you do not need a touch up, she will send you right back home. Her honesty is unmatched. I have already gone back for my touch up (I needed just a bit more), and I am in love! Now ladies, though she is amazing at what she does, the rest is up to you. Had my eyebrows redone by Joyce, after 7 years (that were done by someone else). She brought my eyebrows back life. She color corrected my brows & transformed them into beautiful brows. I highly recommend going to her for your permanent make-up needs. read more

Microblading/microshading = life changer. I've been drawing my eyebrows since I was like 14. Someone decided to tweeze them to shape them and they never grew back. I was scared to get my eyebrows done. To trust someone else to put something semipermanent on my face is just terrifying. After much research I found Joyce. Her work online was amazing. Check out her insta at jcbrows. So I reached out and she got back to me same day within a few hours. Her rate was reasonable, she was super nice and very responsive. She did an amazing job and although it was a bit of a shock to me cause it was so different than what I have been doing my whole life, I can confidently say that I am very happy with my new brows. I get a ton of compliments and I have gotten back so much time in my life now that I don't have to draw my brows everyday. If you have been considering getting it done, do it. After looking at work done by many artists online, I settled with Joyce. I couldn't be more happy that I did! I was super worried about the pain and unnatural results that I have to live with for the next 1-3 years. But Joyce made me feel so comfortable and spent time shaping my brows to my liking. I went with nanoblading based on my skin type (oily combination) and for the results I was looking for. I wanted very natural looking brows that looked good with little to no makeup so that meant having imperfectly perfect hairstrokes. If you're debating if it's worth it, it is! read more

THANK YOU JOYCE!! I had ombré brows done a year ago and they were fading way too much for my liking. I have been following Joyce for some time on Instagram and have always been impressed with her work. She was able to get me an appointment a week after. Let me tell you. I love my super dark brows after my session and all my friends loved it. After healing, my brows still looked so fluffy and on "fleek". I love looking at my brows in the mirror and admiring each detailed stroke that Joyce made. I have already made my touch up appointment and can't wait to get them a few shades darker! Got combo brows (microblading & shading) done by Joyce two weeks ago, and I would highly recommend her. She was super gentle the entire time and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire procedure. My best friend got her brows microbladed by someone else and warned me how painful it was, but I experienced absolutely zero pain with Joyce. One of my brows happened to get more irritated than the other during the procedure, but it still didn't hurt at all. Even after the numbing cream wore off, my eyebrows felt a tad sore, but it wasn't nearly as painful as what my best friend described from her experience with another artist. By the following morning, the soreness already subsided. I was so thankful that Joyce is completely professionally and knows what she's doing. That most likely attributed to my speedy recovery process. After just one week, both of my brows were practically completely healed. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm looking forward to go back for my follow-up Appt in another month or so to perfect my brows even more. If you're looking for an experienced artist for your brows, look no further. I went to see Joyce for scalp micro pigmentation for some thinning areas and scars. She did such a great job. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. She made sure I knew what I had to do for pre and post care. It did not hurt too much at all. Each time I go back in for another session I see great results and my hair looks darker and fuller. read more

Let me just say... I love my lip blush!!!!! Lip blush is a semipermanent lip tattoo that looks like a lip tint. It saves me so much time in the mornings! I have my brows tatted and get lash extensions so the lip blush just topped it all off! The procedure itself took about 3-3.5hrs for me (also depends on your lip size). The first 45-60mins was drawing and coloring the lips + numbing. The next two hours or so was the actual tattoo-ing part. The numbing does wear off and it does hurt but i found it tolerable. But those with lower pain tolerance can always ask to reapply the numbing because she'll do it so that you're comfortable. Hit up Joyce NOW while she has her promo pricing!!!! I'm so glad I trusted Joyce with my brows. I had been following her Instagram page for awhile and my friend had her brows micro bladed last year with great results. I finally decided it was time to do mine. She really listened to what kind of shape I liked and we discussed what was best for my face and flowed with my natural brow. Joyce is AMAZING! I found Joyce a few years ago after a botched situation with a previous microblade artist. Simply put, the first person I went to didn't do what I asked her to do (I ended up with straight eyebrows). Ugh, who does that?? Anyway, microblading is a serious commitment and you should trust and feel confident that whoever is doing your brows, does them the way you want them to. I'm so glad I found Joyce, because she does exactly that and really, everything is easy with her. She's easy to talk to, very responsive to her messages, flexible, knowledgeable in her craft, an absolute perfectionist, and is the sweetest person you will ever meet. The first time I met Joyce, I was so nervous. I did NOT want messed up brows for another year. However, all of the nervousness and anxiety I had quickly went away after meeting her. Not only did she reassure me that my brows were workable and I could get the look I wanted, she took the extra mile to make sure I was happy throughout the entire process. Once my brows were mapped out, Joyce made sure that I liked the way they looked before proceeding with the numbing phase. Even at the end of the appointment, she would let me get up and see my brows up close and in the full length mirror and make final touches until she and I were both satisfied with the way they looked. It's amazing how much Joyce cares about her clients' happiness and I'm truly touched by it. I went back to Joyce this January for an annual touch up and I could not be happier with the results. Joyce urged me last year to get thicker brows because 1. They look good and 2. It would help achieve the arched brows I was going for. I was so nervous to let anyone touch my eyebrows for the first time but when I found Joyce on IG I knew she was the one lol. I was tired of wiping my eyebrows off when on vacay or working out. Joyce is AMAZING! After doing my research a little over two years, I found Joyce on Instagram. To put it in more simple words, I followed a few people and I was not happy with what I saw, some brows were not straight, others were too thin or too thick, too short, you get the point! For me, it was extremely important to find someone who could give exactly what I was looking for along with giving me advice on what would be best for my face and that I could trust. For me finding someone that took the time to do micro-blading combo brows was extremely important, and I have to admit actually looked amazing once done. It was what I was looking for, not to mention I am very careful when allowing someone to do something on my face since it's my face. Microblading is serious and I wanted to feel confident that whoever was doing my brows, did them how I wanted. Love love love! I recently got combo brows (micro blading + shading) done by Joyce and I absolutely recommend it. The process was very smooth, first we schedule our appointment a week out and she let me know exactly what to do and not do before the appointment. Her communication was always very fast. The location 'Modern Face Studio' was very clean and organized. I really liked the studio because of how well decorated it was. Joyce turned on the TV and let us watch comedies while she did my brows. I thought it was going to hurt, but she numbed my brows so I didn't feel a thing. It was a very enjoyable process. Exterior = 5/5 Located near the train station, it's on the corner of a street. There is parking (if you are lucky) inside but only a few spots, so most likely go for street parking but wasn't hard to find in front of the location. Interior = 5/5 It was bustling, they have a salon that had customers coming and going. I came specifically for the microblading - so Kelly brought me over to a room on the right that was private which I appreciated since after you close the door, it muffles the sounds of all the activity outside. Service = 5/5 Everyone I encountered were super kind and welcoming. Kelly is blowing up and doing all these cool events with her team with Gold House and still managing weddings all over. Yet, she is still so humble and takes her time to chat and learn more about the customer. I was super nervous to get microblading but she walked me through the process, helped me feel comfortable with the results we were planning, and would check in on me frequently through the whole thing. I felt like I had a say in the process and honestly that a friend was doing my brows - it was casual, relaxed, and chill. Order = 5/5 I got the combo brows which is microblading with powder. I will never not get this. I had patchy brows (over plucking, scarring, yikes) that I was super self conscious of growing up and was having to fill them in. Since getting these done - I barely have had to fill in, maybe a slight touch up if I have an event or need to do some make up. If you like bare faced and natural looks, this was game changing. I'm super not familiar with make up or skilled at it - enough to be dangerous, and this helped me so much. I feel more confident and happier with my brows. Only slight upkeep is needed to trim! I have already gotten my touch up from the initial appointment, and you only need to go maybe every year or so after to touch up. Overall = 5/5 Great investment that I kick myself for not having done sooner. But honestly, glad I waited till I found Kelly. I tried brow lamination, and it wasn't for me. Her microblading skills are top notch and give a very natural look which I wanted. I found my brow girl and never going back. But I started looking into micro blading after I had my 3rd child and I just felt and looked...bedraggled (see before pic ). I literally researched and obsessed over who to see and if I should even do it. Then along comes my amazing local mom's group who recommend over half a dozen artists in LA for microblading. I tried to do this without considering the cost even though we're on a super tight budget because I wanted to find the best person for the look I was going for and save up. You see, I had my eyeliner done by a makeup artist in Chicago who had "experience" with microblading. Long story short she tattooed below the lash line so the numbing agent didn't take and I felt EVERY STROKE. One side was partially done and the other side barely showed any liner. It took hours and hours and it hurt like crazy. I should mention that I have a dozen regular tattoos and am accustomed to tattoo pain... I finally settled on Christen at Brow Tendre and it was the best thing I ever did. The process was painless and she has the most amazing, gentle touch. I fell asleep twice during the brows and we talked like old friends unless it was time for me to shut my trap and get purdy! She knew my history with skin numbing issues and was patient, gentle and kind throughout the whole thing. I loved my brows so I went back for eyeliner too. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. Unexpected Charges and Lack of Transparency…read more I booked my appointment in person on Tuesday 7/15 because I wasn't sure what to select online for Gel-X removal. I trusted the front desk staff to guide me, and was quoted $80 for Gel-X, builder gel removal, and French tip. At my appointment on Friday 7/18, I was unexpectedly charged $110! I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. If you're considering booking here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for more transparent and customer-friendly service.

I came back for a refill, and two days later was in some of the most pain I've ever been in due to a cuticle infection. I voiced concerns that my skin was being cut, but they were shrugged off. After coming into the salon to show them the infection, the front desk staff was polite and helpful advising they would reach out to the owner and share photos they took of the nail. Days passed and I followed up again via phone as I didn't hear back. The owner of the salon requested PHI pertaining to the infection, including what Rx I was on, in order to even consider a refund. Initially, a gift card for the amount spent on the service was offered in lieu of a refund. I mentioned I was not comfortable receiving another service, and received a call back letting me know the owner was willing to grant a refund. Overall, the back and forth took about a week and a half. I was new to the entire gelx process, and am posting this review to let anyone else looking to embark on that journey know they should ask questions and voice their concerns. There are seemingly many happy patrons, but this was my individual experience.

I had been deciding on getting my eyebrows microbladed for awhile. I came across Modern Face Studio on a Yelp search. Read the reviews and looked at various before and after photos. Followed them on Instagram and found Joyce and really liked her work so I contacted her on IG. Joyce was very responsive, answered my questions and we quickly setup an appointment. I sent her photos of the eyebrow shape that I wanted. During the consultation, we discussed the shape & color and decided that combo brows (microblading and shading) was the best option for me. She explained the process which started with mapping, numbing and then Joyce did her magic! She made my eyebrows look natural and did a fabulous job! She is meticulous and takes her time to do a perfect job. The microblading process took maybe a little over an hour. Numbing process was 30 minutes. Can't remember the length of the mapping process. After the procedure, Joyce gave me an anti-itch ointment and also a paper explaining about the after care. She asked how I was doing the following day. And I'll be scheduling a free touch up around the 6 week mark. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my brows!! I love waking up everyday with my new and natural looking brows. Being both a client and a student for microblading has been such an amazing experience. As a client, I felt completely comfortable and confident throughout the entire process. Everything was explained clearly, and the attention to detail truly showed in my results--I'm in love with my brows! As a student, I couldn't have asked for a better learning environment. Without a doubt, she is amazing! I am so thankful for all the previous reviews that encouraged me to trust Joyce. She is very detailed and professional. Going in I was a bit hesitant because of a scar, she validated my concern and reassured me. The whole process took about 2 hours, I did not feel any pain. She took her time mapping my brows, I truly appreciate skills as a perfectionist. This is on your face, it's not like a tattoo on your back that you can cover-up...you can trust her...she is worth it. The studio is super clean following all covid protocols. I have come here for my brows and lips. I love love love Joyce, her work is amazing and she is really a perfectionist. I am so happy with my results they are perfect but still very natural. I would highly recommend anyone come here. I am even bringing my mom here to have her microblading that was done by someone else fixed by Joyce. She is a wonderful permanent makeup artist to say the least. I would highly recommend if you haven't already booked with her do so right now. I had my brows done by someone else and was very disappointed because she did not leave them they way I wanted and they were different brows. Joyce did an awesome job on fixing them. I absolutely love my brows! I would recommend her! The other person does brows but uses filters and did not know how to do microblading. I had been following Joyce on IG for a few months and I must say she is the best. You will not be disappointed, I wish I had gone to her first. read more

That's how comfortable I was. Her studio is located in Downtown Pasadena - it's right next to the plaza that has Mandarin Coffee Stand. Located on the second floor, near the bathroom where you follow a corridor to get to the studio. I actually got my initial brows done with one of the students that she was training. And then I came back for a touch up where Jeana worked on my brows herself. I thought her student did a good job, but I have to say that my expectations were completely toppled after Jeana helped touch up my brows. I definitely trust her expertise and decision making 100%. I don't really know too much about brows, but I had already gotten compliments the day of and even days after where people pointed out how nice my brows look. Process is not painful at all, maybe a 2/10 if I had to rate it. She sent me home with some brow aftercare, which was really nice. And the best part - now I can just roll out of bed with my brows done and not have to worry about them looking sparse or too light! Highly recommend Jeana if you're looking to get your brows done. They are the perfect shade of color, look natural and are cleanly shaped. I definitely have uneven eyebrows due to my face muscle lifting one brow higher. I would always struggle with this but Lilit used her expertise to even them out as much as possible. She's a true artist and is very patient, sweet and explains the process carefully. Do not be scared of the dark brows!! I was totally shocked at first despite all the warnings but once the wound peeled, most of the ink went away. After my first session, I noticed the color was very natural but not as bold as I wanted. Lilit listened to my concerns and worked with me to make my brows darker during the second session.
