But the salad portion of the menu also said one could "add chicken or smoked turkey" ($4) or "add beef brisket" ($5) and I did. Did you just tell me I could get a perfect, tasty, ample salad with a separate, robust and delicious side of BBQ beef brisket for $13.50? I wasn't just ready to fly to Arizona; I was ready to move to Cottonwood. This meal was delicious. A "small platter of smoked brisket" ($14.50) was enjoyed equally by another at my table but, with my bowlful of brisket, I paid little attention to that other meal. My attention instead was aimed at a nearby table's indulgence in the smoked Mac-n-cheese ($4.75) and Cheesy Jalapeño Corn Bread ($4). Jealous I was, for I had no room for anything more. I chatted with Jerry for a few minutes, we discussed different things like how wrong Texas style pancake candy BBQ "sauce" is and how anything at any store is pretty much corn syrup & liquid smoke and he told me how he makes his own sauce so I bit and I'm glad I did. My teenage daughter loved it and my wife, who grew up with ribs and BBQ, and even my fussy son could not stop. As I said, I like supporting small business and working in a kitchen I'm learning how far passion takes the flavors. Jerry is Sicilian (they tie their shoes with a FORZA passion.) and I had a feeling those ribs were going to be the best I've had and he told me and he was right, they are. Search this guy out. She was pretty rude to her employee, which really killed the mood. Honestly, she might have been better off staying out back having another cigarette. In my younger days I would have pounded down one of their BBQ specialties and topped it off with dessert, but as a senior I no longer eat like that. They definitely need senior-sized combos allowing smaller appetites to enjoy a little taste of everything. We both agreed this place would be great for catering a big event.
