What a thrill! On registration, I received a very informative email confirming my class, instructions to arrive 15 minutes early, and tips on what I should wear (bottoms that cover the back of your knees, a top that covers your middle, socks, tying hair back, etc - all aimed at maintaining comfort and safety during class). Feeling prepared and with loads of excitement, I made my way to this Mystic location (a mere 45 minutes from my home in Rhode Island). Our particular class was capped at 10 participants which was a great amount of people. Time to relax and learn in between each turn and gave an opportunity to watch others and hear feedback to improve your own performance. The instructors wasted no time in getting us up and on the trapeze apparatus. A couple pointers and safety rules and you find yourself hanging in the air. Everyone is strapped into a safety harness and clipped in while climbing ladders/swinging so the whole experience I felt very secure and confident. You learn a progression of skills (with some practice on the ground) and depending on how you advance, you may find yourself performing a successful catch by the end of class! 9 out of 10 people in our class did while the last bravely conquered their fears. A win by all! The instructors were very skilled, supportive, and personable. Their professionalism and clear background in the sport added to this quality experience. While sitting waiting for class to begin, I was captivated by their coaching in other offerings. Aerial classes for silks, hoops, static trapeze and trampoline are just a small part of what they offer here. Honestly, check this gym out. The prices are reasonable, they offer discounts on packages, and it is a great environment to try something new. (And how cool is it to show your friends videos of you on the flying trapeze!)

This review is only based on the customer service at Fearless Flyers, as I was unable to go due to…read morethe national pandemic going on.  Back in October, I had contacted FFA about booking a bachelorette party for middle/end of April. Ally (I am unsure if this is the director or not) had warned me that weather could possibly be an issue as it could still be cold or even snowy in April, but we decided to book anyways. Although then she just stopped answering. I contacted FFA on instragram-no response, I sent another email-no response, finally I had to use my fiance's FB (I don't have one) to contact them in which she finally responded and we proceeded with the booking and I paid the deposit to the info@FFA email address. Come end of march, the nation wide pandemic is going on- I email info@FFA again with no response yet again. So I have my fiance send another message on FB, Ally or whoever responds with saying they are closed and could provide a refund. I messaged back saying unfortunately we unable to arrange accommodations to move our party due to the pandemic to use the refund, as we live out of state-yet again no response. Almost a month goes by and I have my fiance send another message kindly asking about a possible refund due to the pandemic. Finally I get this nasty message back from them.  Ally decided to finally respond to one of my emails about the pandemic cancellation from a DIFFERENT email address so it went to spam. And there were not numerous emails sent to me, she sent ONE email about not being able to provide a refund. She also didn't strongly suggest not to book and if anything it was pertaining to the possible weather in April, NOT to a national pandemic. I do not know what I did to warrant this kind of attitude when a simple "I am sorry we are unable to provide a refund" would have sufficed. *I ADDED A SCREENSHOT OF THE NASTY FB MESSAGE I RECEIVED* I'm sure the trapeze classes are great, but the customer service is not, stay away if you want to plan a party. Theres an awesome trapeze facility in the city, go there instead.

Anytime Fitness Niantic, CT, and Salem, CT are AMAZING. The owners of these two locations go above…read moreand beyond daily to provide clients with an unparalleled gym experience. Their commitment to clients is evident in the consistent cleanliness state of the gym (other local branches are really gross), a broad spectrum of equipment available that is also clean and usable consistently, and questions/requests are responded to quickly and efficiently (I know, it's hard to believe in this day and time but it is true). Also, the commitment to high-quality trainers/training being available gives one a sense of safety, security, and confidence that you ARE being put on the right path for YOU, not some cookie-cutter program that is not right always for everyone. And, last, but definitely not least, having an experience of feeling important to a business owner is NOT one that is typical anymore (sadly), but IS the experience at the Anytime Fitness locations owned by Axel and Lynnea. Axel and Lynnea, thank you so much for providing a STELLAR place for me to call "home" for my transformation to vital, strong health.

I'm partial to their 6am hour of power class during the week. I actually wish Deb taught at 6am every morning but I'm being greedy. They have classes most mornings & noon then again around dinner time. Definitely check their website for a complete list but it's easy to find a class to fit into your schedule. Not all instructors here are the same but they're all great. Every one brings their own personality to class & some can be more challenging than others. So you think $140 a month isn't cheap for yoga? Well yoga is expensive but HSY is definitely most competitive when it comes to price options. A "drop in" for most studios is at least $15 & some don't let you purchase packages. HSY does offer a trial membership so you know what you're getting into before plunking down too much cash. Yoga is an investment & if you're serious you'll definitely get your money's worth. And not every studio I've practiced at has offered locker rooms and/or showers. It's great to take a shower & change into clean clothes after 90 minutes of breathing & stretching.

If you come from a gym with real gym culture, this gym is not for you. The young man who works here…read moreon the weekends is great and friendly. But the women who works during the week is the most rude & unwelcoming worker I have ever encountered. She is not friendly & if you are not from the area she watches you like you're going to burn the place down. My family has been spending our summers in Rhode Island since my mom was a little girl, I have always had great memories & amazing things to say about every place I ever went. But the hospitality to people who don't go to this gym everyday is not there. My home gym welcomes everyone with open arms & we have triple times the influx of summer visitors OF ALL AGES...also with no restricted areas. Last year was the first time we tried this gym & we had the same problem, rules & regulations that she makes sure we follow but not too concerned with others. If you are an outsider you will always feel like you're being watched. Now going in to the "off limit" area. I completely understand having equipment that only members could use in their "CrossFit" room but when the classes go on you can't use the area (understandable), so that takes one room away. Now they have a "stretching" room that you would think they would allow you to use as CrossFit when a class is in session but no...that room's equipment is also all off limits. My problem with all of the off limit areas (beside the fact that I've never been to a gym that did this) is there aren't many open areas to be in where you can do a hiit workout or just abs. You have to try to find a corner where you're not in anyone's way. They are definitely catering to the older crowd which is fine but if you are young going to this gym you will feel as though you're being targeted & not treated the same. Also if you're going to have a ton of off limit areas for "non platinum" members then at least have one corner for hiit work outs where people can go with "on limit" equipment. Now going off of always being watched & worried that no matter what I do I will be told I can't do that or I'm not allowed to. The stretching room equipment is off limits but if we would have brought the stuff from the other area I feel as if we would have been told we can't do that either. You can't move the benches so that takes out an area & if you can't move the benches how are we sure we can bring the boxes to a different area. Finally, no bags are allowed on the floor so if you are apart of the younger gym culture and have your own equipment (like most people at almost every gym I've been to) like straps & a belt or a barbell pad...you have to go in to the locker room every time you need one of those things! And I'm sure if I was playing music loudly off of my phone speakers like one man was, I would be told I can't do that. I never felt welcome or comfortable, I always felt like I was being watched & going to be told I can't do something. Even while my husband recorded some of my workouts, she walked past staring. I have gone to gyms all over the country & never had an experience like this. I have worked out with award winning bodybuilders in Hawaii with a friendlier crew than here. Most of the people that work out there are friendly but of course they are because they aren't getting the same treatment. I am never one to sit & nit pick things that I don't like about a place but from the first week I spent in this gym, I was not happy with the treatment. I have never reviewed a place, especially not a bad one but this place definitely deserves it since there was no change from last year. I can't imagine how this women would do in a busier gym setting on top of not seeming like she know much about the gym either. Again, I'm not one to ever judge but since receiving the same treatment from her a year later she's obviously judging me & my husband &all other outsiders. I don't know if it's based off of our appearance or age but she never smiles when I say hello or goodbye & that's just horrible customer service. We tried to give this gym another chance but after this time we will not be back. We already found a new gym & the people are super friendly...we sat & talked with them for a good 10 mins, knowledgeable & overall exactly what we look for. I was thrilled leaving this new gym that we found one that fits our lifestyle & our friendliness. It really is a shame because this gym is very nice and well kept. It has so much potential to be great and have a younger crowd but I guess that's exactly what they don't want. I wish they would just say that in their description instead of making you feel unwelcome. And again the women who works at the from doesn't treat outsiders friendly & definitely wouldn't have a conversation with you. I hope the front desk work changes her attitude because it's a shame that a young couple who loves to work out can't feel safe or comfortable doing what they love based off of our look or age.

Debi gave everyone individual energy work touch to start out and she also offers energy work as a service. The whole vibe and energy was a little on the serious side for me, and I don't believe in Reiki, I prefer less focus on chakras and a little more laughter! That being said I wonder if one of the "regular" workouts might be less touchy feely! :) Regardless of my personal spiritual slant, I'd highly recommend this place for the sheer beauty of looking at the water during practice!
