wandering through Middleburg, the capital of the Zeeland province we came upon this cafe with a jazz theme and a nice little terrace outside. sadly even though the sun was out, it was too cold to sit outdoors. we walked in and i told the bar keep we are twee and twee honden. he told me in dutch, great we have a menu for you and a menu for the dogs :) he was the friendliest dutch bar keep i've met in a while so we decided to sit down by the bar which by the way has real piano keys along the edge of it. there was also an area with a piano that i'm sure gets played by customers. the place kind of reminded me of a dutch Cheers. He knew everyone's name that walked in and knew their drink. I watched him place drinks down before someone even sat down at his bar. very local joint.
since we were here for lunch we decided to get sandwiches. i got a delicious baked brie sandwich with a balsamic honey mustard drizzle (see photo) and peter got a roast beef sandwich with a nice creamy dressing, shaved parmesan, capers and arugula. both were very good. they also had a nice wine and beer list.
our waiter was very friendly and it seemed like the whole place was dog friendly. just about everyone including the staff stopped to say hi to my dogs. i would love to come back and experience dinner and drinks here one day.
easy five stars, good food, great customer service, great ambiance (cool jazz music playing and jazz themes all over) and super dog friendly!!!! read more
