Having originally given Jay's Barbers a four star review, then downgrading it to three after a few subsequent visits, it seems a little strange to return again and then give a one star update.
Anyway, the queue was at least an hour long at Raymons Barbers across the street, so as I was in a hurry, I thought I'd give Jay's a try again as there was no one else in the shop. I should have realised that was a bad sign and walked away as it only got worse.
A staff member was sitting on the customer waiting chairs doing nothing, but she was wearing sunglasses indoors on a cloudy October day, so probably hungover. Not a state you'd want someone to go hear you with scissors!
I sat down and told her what I wanted. She told me that wasn't a good idea, and suggested a different style instead. Throughout the haircut she was carrying on a personal conversation with the owner and completely ignored me. She was also continually checking her phone, so obviously not paying attention.
I ended up with a nasty cut on my neck, and didn't even receive an apology or a tissue to wipe up the blood.
To add insult to the (literal!) injury, the haircut was of poor quality, and when I said I wasn't happy, she blamed my hair for it looking that way!
With plenty of other good barbers in the area, I have no idea how the amateurs at Jay's are even in business. I certainly won't be going back - ever. read more
