Stopped here on a drive down to the LA area! What an awful experience. Of the four stalls in the women's restroom one was clogged, one had no working lock on the door, one had no toilet paper, one (the handicapped stall) was filthy and also out of toilet paper. This is a decent travel center if you're making the trip between Northern California and Southern California. However, gas is extremely expensive here so avoid filling up your tank here if possible. They have a Subway, decent restrooms and a mini mart. The service is definitely very slow but if you really need some snacks, food or restrooms, it's okay as an emergency stop place, but far from the best place to stop for food, gas, restrooms, etc on the Northern-Southern California route. read more

One of the best places to stop if you're going down highway 5. It's not too packed and offers a lot of great things to quickly grab. There is a Subway and Baja Fresh here as well, but I tend to go for the snacks. Apparently they have alligator jerky, but I saw the sign as I was leaving so I'll have to try it next time. Overall, a great place to stop on highway 5. Service tends to be pretty flat though, as it seems most of the people here don't care to be working here. read more

Traveling the 5 freeway, particularly these middle areas between SF and LA, generally doesn't see me looking for cultural development experiences or hoping to encounter social graces... I get off for some basic, lower echelon stuff on Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs (look it up)-- food, water, gasoline, and restrooms that won't give me lupus. I have not had the merriment of interacting with the staff here. On my last stop, I topped off my tank in the Silverado, scrubbed the bugs off the windshield, and enjoyed their relatively clean restrooms before laying a little scratch on the gravelly onramp and getting the H-e-double hockey sticks outta there. That said, there was a lame fee for the gas, the big scraper windshield squeegee was old, and there was some kind of local stench permeating the air, despite the verdant green of the surrounding hillsides, enjoying the recent rains. I don't know, but it seems some reviewers have lots of time on their hands to ascertain the geopolitical philosophies and psychographic profiles of the simpletons working behind the counter here. Me? Just when I thought I had found a clean restroom stop along I-5, I find another one. This time, it is even cleaner because this gas station is spanking new!! Oh yah! It even has that new smell. The convenience store attached to this gas station is HUGE and the amount of hot food, snack collection and drinks is impressive. They had corn dogs, hot dogs, polish dogs, nachos, various sandwiches you can heat up to eat and even a little thingy for tamales although when I checked, there weren't any tamales yet in there. I'd have to say this has to be the king of kings of gas stations/convenience stores along this stretch of nothingness. Boy we were lucky this trip to have stopped when we stopped. I love these clean bathrooms. The lights have motion sensors so when you walk in they automatically come on. Everything is motion sensored so don't really touch anything at all except for the toilet paper. This is my kind of a stop!! Just hope they keep the standards up and not let it go to shit in a few years' time. No pun intended. read more

A good stopping point for the area. We stop here often on our trips to LA and SD. Plenty of gas pumps. A wide selection of items in the store. Customer service has always been good. Bathrooms are old but clean. It would be even better if they replaced the Baja Fresh with something else or improved the Baja Fresh. read more

I love it. The lady with blonde underneath her black hair was the sweetest and help me claim my Baja Fresh order. I used a Groupon which was amazing to purchase my meals and at first it was annoying because none of the employees had been trained on how to do it , but once they figured it out it made it that much better. Me and my husband where able to actually eat. So we where good. This location does accept restaurant.com egift certificates. I bought my $50 ecertificate for $10 on Groupon. You guys should too. Also. The steak fajita is bomb , the mexicano burrito is bomb just make sure you have your salt and pepper handy or in my husbands case Tajin. Makes it so much better if you don't like bland non fatty food. read more

Pretty decent stop not sure why they call it the travel center but it does have showers and restrooms a Baja Fresh, subway and a convenient store that has plenty of snacks and a variety of drinks so overall good place to stop bathrooms were not in the best condition but hey it's a stop off the highway what do you expect read more

Great Place. I need to give a recommendation for Jaynes Travel Center. My 93 year old mother was driving down as she evacuated quickly from the fire, and she had car troubles and no cell phone. One of the attendants called me, gave me the directions to the travel center and she made sure my 93 year old mother was safe and comfortable until I arrived and fixed her car and brought her to my home. Cash register was super slow, 3 staff and only 1 register open, took me 30 minutes waiting in line and staff was cleaning the restroom dragging his feet. Definitely recommend this store- here's my story... We're on our way home after our one night stay in SFO for our father's death anniversary, after driving a hundred miles unfortunately we got flat tires, luckily our is run flat, we still got 200 more miles to go, or if we decided to go back to sfo and stay another night it's 100 miles. When we stop in a fast station to get air, we saw a sign that says 24hours tire shop, and yeah of course the guy on the phone is hilariously ripping us off! My husband got pissed, we decided to stop every gas station to get air. When we got here, at the food mart I need get a medicine for my red eye, and my husband get some air. God send us This young guy in a uniform, blue cap, with facial hair. He helped us how to temporarily fix it using the product they're selling in the store. My husband is not good with fixing stuff so he said he needed help to doing it, and he did! Very blessed We went to this location, very knowledgeable and helpful staff here. I hate my husband not asking for his name. He is really a good guy. We are so worried cause our we have two kids with us that night. Just a tip, never call that number unless you wanna pay 400-500$ for a tire and wait for 5hours. Cause we met a family waiting there for almost 4 hours and paid for $400. Stopped to use the restroom during a long I-5 haul and made the unwise choice of pulling into the ARCO across the street from the Shell/Jayne Travel Plaza. Bad idea! Well I also wanted to fill up air for my tires so I walked into the Shell/Jayne Travel Plaza across the street. The gas prices at the Shell are about 10 cents more than the ARCO, but if you're in need of a meal, snacks or just need to relieve yourself, than the Jayne Travel Plaza is the place to go. I have pretty low expectations when it comes to gas stations along the freeway, so with that said I couldn't believe at not only how nice and tidy the place looked. I mean the bathrooms were amazingly clean, for a moment I felt I was using a bathroom at someone's home. The selection of snacks in the convenient store is *HUGE*, and not only that, but this is one of the few gas stations where you can get a hot meal from a fully functioning Baja Fresh Mexican restaurant inside. I know some Yelpers have given scathing reviews of this place, but as of February 2013 the place couldn't be more opposite of that. If I could do it over again I'd fill up at ARCO, then take care of all my other business at the Shell station. read more

DO NOT STOP AT THIS SHELL! GO TO ARCO ACROSS THE STREET INSTEAD! If I could give a zero I would. Getting cursed at by the cashier guy at 7am was not an ideal way to start out my 12 hour drive. My, how things ahve changed since the first 5-star review of this place. I am giving one star because there is a large variety of stuff available here -- all manner of snack, drink, auto supply, etc. But that's all I can say for it on a positive note. The previously-reviewed bathrooms are now an atrocity. Dirty, scummy, busted stall doors that don't even lock, trash and god-knows-what all over the floor and caked into the corners. So nasty!!!! I realize that this is a rest stop and thus gets a LARGE amount of people-traffic throughout the day, but that should mean they clean the bathrooms MORE often, not (what appears to be) weekly. Ugh. You're better off holding it and waiting for the next stop off the freeway.....or pulling over and whizzing in the cow pasture. read more

Restrooms were real clean ,cashier was friendly. Tried a burrito at the Baja Fresh grill was great. Definitely now on my list of stop offs when I drive the 5. Oh note it only has a dirt lot for big truck parking but has fuel island for grab and go at least 6 pump stations. read more

I came here for the Baja Fresh, because Mexican food restaurants are one of the easiest to get a vegan option. You have to work at it a little with the right questions. Are your beans vegetarian as in not even flavored with meat? Black beans are usually safe. Then to the rice, do you use chicken stock to cook your rice? And do on. The place looked cleaner than I expected, this is just a glorified gas station as it were. When the server got ready to prepare my burrito I got a little scared, she opened up a drawer, no kidding a drawer like you were going to take out a pair of socks, but metal. It was full of cooked vegetables, onions, bell peppers of all kinds, garlic. Fresh? Anyway here is were it goes down hill. The scoop was in a metal bowl and had been used, how's long ago I don't know? Then I noticed all the utensils were sort of lying around having been used at some point and now soiled. I figured I would find out how tough my stomach was our lose a few extra pounds. The burrito was fabulous and I could taste all of the vegies separately. The server was the sweetest young girl who hand just started there and when I went to check out I didn't have my wallet...uuuggghhhh. thank God I keep parking lot money on my car. Immaculate restrooms. Driving up I5 is hard enough and finding a clean place to stop and use the restroom is always a plus. This establishment deserves to be complimented for the condition of their restrooms. We bought a few snacks and found the selection to be just what we were looking for at the time.
