Traveling from San Francisco to Houston via the motor home, we needed a stop over and the rest stop 2 miles back did not allow that. Checked out this place on the all stays app and it indicated it was a full service truck stop. There were plenty of parking spots, safe, clean and fairly quiet as far as truck stops go. Diesel was reasonably priced. read more

Car said I had a little over 100 miles of fuel left. And with at least a couple of hundred more to go, I figure I might as well fill up. This happen to be the next gas station coming up. I've noticed this gas station time and again during my drive between NorCal and SoCal and marked it as "the one going solo..." Only because there was nothing else near it. Literally. ANYWAY! I figure I'd go check it out... So, I get out of the freeway to get to it. It was a bit tricky in the dark - no lines, no guide which way to go. Just its own non-marked driveway. I pull up and... $4.99/gallon?!?! My immediate reaction: NOPE. I Yelped to see where the next gas station is: 16 miles away. I was betting they would be cheaper, so... I BOUNCED. And this is where non-marked lanes to get out is important: there are TONS of big rig trucks coming in and outta here. If you're not careful, you might just get CRUSHED. Like many fellow Yelpers pointed out, it's far too expensive. Sorry, 76: I doubt you'll be a choice of gas stop in the future. read more

76 - Gas Stations Near Me - Huron, California

No longer a 76 - now an EZ Trip Building looks the same outside but much better run now - disregard these reviews

Screaming north on the 5, hammer down and running low on wake-up juice, I pulled off here to drain, re-caffain, and maintain... Sweet Baby Jeebus, that's a $4 gallon of gas, Mathilda! Disillusioned, and intent to drive another five minutes north to save $20 for the fill-up in my truck, I wandered inside to hit the restroom and maybe get a cup of coffee. Restrooms are not the Four Seasons, Gertrude. It's an isolated rural restroom, get some perspective. 0 for 2 on this stop, I walked over to the coffee... and it's that deplorable instant machine with the hot water and concentrate in the machine. Brutal. I filled a small cup for gits and shiggles, and sort of walked slowly towards the front, looking at some CB radio antennas on a display. An angelic voice barked at me, "You gonna pay for that?" "Wha?" I stammered. The she-clerk was staring at me. She repeated her question. "You pay for that coffee?" "Not yet," I managed. "But I will." I think she must have caught herself and realized her tone, however unintended. "Nah, it's on me. I've got something else to do right now." I didn't stick around to find out what that was... count the drawer? Cash drop? Hide the body of the mildly-annoying but harmless drifter that was lying motionless on the floor of the walk-in cooler? (Allegedly.) I tipped my cap and ran for my truck. Dropped my coffee getting in the seat. What a great stop. In a pinch, in an emergency, in a drunken rage.... this place might be your jam. For everything else, some things are worth the wait. Like serenity. And a gas station driveway that doesn't take ten minutes to navigate like this one does. And coffee that went through a filter on its way to your cup. read more

FALSE ADVERTISING EZ TRIP should just call themselves Pilot because that who they are. We pulled into this truckstop for the cash price of 3.65 using a debit card. They ended up charging us credit price because they are a pilot. I do not know why they even use the name 'EZ TRIP" when they are a pilot. They are misleading everyone who pulls up into their pump thinking they are going to get cash price for a debit card. The place was clean but lack of registers clerks. There was only one person working at the register and there was a long line of people. The bathroom were dirty. You can tell it wasn't clean in awhile. There was a little line to use the bathroom due to a toilet being clogged up. read more

The bathrooms here are filthy dirty, no toilet paper in a lot of stalls, flies flying around, and no seat covers... don't bother to stop here to use them unless you just need gas. But gas is expensive right now at $4.59/ gal for regular gas. However, there are plenty of food options. Subway, pizza, and Mexican food. We were in and out pretty quickly. read more

Ownership is beyond lazy. 8 am store is closed no signs no notices. Front door is unlocked however the rest of the building is locked up. Beyond unacceptable your store is suppose to be open 24 hours a day and it's closed. Ownership clearly doesn't give a damn about their customers. They have a parking lot for truckers. How do you expect to use the restroom? Unbelievable. Hope you lose your 76 franchise read more

I try not to give bad reviews.. but this place was wild. $4 a gallon for gas? Okay. Just a little then. That's okay. $5 classic pizza from the little caesars/subway/el sabrosos? Okay, why not. Trying to get to this place? Oh boy, not okay. You have to drive past this place and do a loop thing and double back and almost drive over a dirt road and nearly get lost before you actually get to the place. You get there? Good for you. We get a 3 gallons, park the car, and walk towards the entrance. When you first enter, it looks like an ordinary gas station convenience store. And then you ask yourself, "where's the little Caesar's?" Answer: down a sketchy as heck alley filled with out of order refrigerators and multiple claw machines that cost $2.00 PER PLAY. We go down the hall and come there is little caesars/subway/el sabrosos. Whoever owns this place is a genius. A pizza is good for a family in a car, surely everyone can find something to eat at little caesars..and if they're gluten free? El Sabrosos. We order our pizza, the girl behind the counter says it'll be 7 minutes. No big deal, that's what happens when you order just cheese. My mother, who I was traveling with, asks me if I could wait for the pizza while she goes to the restroom. As I sit down at an uncomfortable plastic table and bench, I start to regret my choice of little caesars, and start wishing I had gone for subway. It's too late now. There were two subway employees sitting at the taller tables with two el sabroso employees. They scream across the room at each other. She comes back from the bathroom, leans over to me and says "oh my god you have to come see this," which of course are not the words that you want to hear from someone who has just been in a truck stop bathroom. She says to me "so this place? It's the only location on I-5 that provides massages." I stare back at her. What? Who are they providing massages to? What are they doing? She continues "also as you leave the bathroom, they have a lunch and dinner special for El Sabrosos". WHAT? This I had to see. I get up and follow her back down the hallway that acts like a graveyard for claw machines. There is was. Right in front of the bathroom. No, on both sides between the wall that separates the men's and women's bathroom.. a menu for specials at El Sabrosos. I wonder how the decided which menu items to put on the men's side, and which to put on the women's side. Continuing on, we passed a sketchy, empty hallway with a couple of doors and a sign that sure enough says "MASSAGE: the only one on 1-5". Where do you get massages? Obviously through the doors in the sketchy hallway. We go back to the little caesars/subway/el sabrosos area, and the girl gives us our pizza, and we book it out of there. As soon as we're locked in the car, we laugh about it. Just as we're about to leave, I spot a small blinking sign similar to that of an "open" sign. What did it say? "Massage". We got the heck out of there (after taking a picture of course). I asked what my mother would rate it, and she said a one star. I think that's a bit harsh. As I said, I try not to give bad reviews. The people who work there aren't bad. It's the whole atmosphere of the place. It's trying to be everything at once. It's a gas station but also a little caesars/subway/el Sabrosos in a convenience shop where you can buy lotto tickets and get massages at the same time. read more

I stop at this 76 periodically on my trips to the Bay Area. The gas isn't cheap, but I like it because it has good lighting outside in the parking lot and clean restrooms with the XLerator hand dryers. For those unfamiliar with the XLERATOR hand dryers they expel the air with such force that it will make the back of your hand look like it's experiencing the g-forces of an astronaut trying to exit the Earth's atmosphere. There is a Mexican food restaurant called Asaderos inside the same building as the convenience store, but I've never eaten there. There is a plaza outside with a water fountain and Picnic tables. There is even a dog walking area outside. All in all in makes for a safe pit stop, especially if you're a woman traveling alone at night. The convenience store is well stocked and the cashier, while not overly friendly, was efficient. read more

Stopped here for gas while on a roadtrip. This 76 has somewhat clean bathrooms, but the soap dispensers were out and paper towel rolls were just sitting out by the sink all wet. Agh :-( read more

Let's be honest. When you're driving north and in dire need of gas, nourishment, and your butt is about to explode because for some reason, you thought greasy fast food was a good idea on the way up, you'll think Aslan himself was leading you to this waypoint (with Liam Neeson's sensual voice and all). This place is big, and as occupado as a solo porter potty at the Burning Man festival. This also shows you what kind of people hang around this place. As far as location goes, it literally is in the middle of nowhere. If you were expecting anything near this place, get ready for miles and miles of disappointment. There will be no place to compare prices for gas or goods at least for another 30 miles or so. In that way, this place is like a flame to the moth, both dodgy and good. If you're lucky, you'll find some friendly faces and people who are like you, only needing the essentials and on their way. However, if you're unlucky, you might get solicited by one armed vagabonds who pull at your heart strings with a smile lacking teeth. However, this is a way point in the middle of nowhere and it is a sight for sore eyes, especially sore, red, dry eyes. You can pick up some eye drops for that. The greatest thing about this place is the fact that it exists. It is big and they do have food that is outside of simple gas station food. Just having options and bathrooms is a plus. However, bring your own hand towel unless you enjoy air drying your hands and face. Don't linger here for too long, and definitely lock your car if you're stepping away from it. Otherwise, good luck on your travels. read more

If you're headed down the 5 and want some snacks go here! They have all sorts of chips and candy that you won't find in a regular store. For the chip connoisseur you'll definitely want to make a stop. They have several varieties with rare flavors like tapatio, jalapeno ranch, hot ruffles (the cheetos powder) and more. I got lots of good stuff for my road trip :) watermelon haribo bears was one of my purchases. I didn't even know these existed! read more

This was a nice big gas station we found on our way to LA. It was a very clean facility with lots of parking. The price was a little bit pricy not much choices in gas stations in this area. In the convenient store there were a lot of things to buy and if you are tire or bored, there are video games on the way to the bathroom. read more

I rarely write reviews like this, but the 76 station in Avenal can suck it. Smack in the middle of nowhere on I-5, it looked like a really nice, clean and big gas station. Holding my pee for the past 3 hours hadn't been pleasant but I finally reached my breaking point. Bad idea if you want to try and use the facilities here! First of all, they only have one huge, long driveway for truckers, instead of having another, sharper turning entryway for road vehicles. It's a huge tease when you think you're about to pull up to a bathroom oasis, yet instead you have to circle around a huge driveway. My biggest beef, however, was the employees. Instead of closing half of the women's bathroom or opening up the men's room to be co-ed, these girls closed off the entire bathroom (all 10 stalls!!) just to mop under the sinks. When I tried to go in anyway, the door was slammed in my face. In front of me, in line, there was a woman who threatened to let her child urinate on the floor. After that threat, they decided to only let one person into the bathroom at a time, but of course at a busy rest stop the bathroom line had about 15 dancing women in it. I get that they probably have a crappy job, cleaning the bathrooms at a rest stop/gas station. However, it's going to be a *lot* crappier if they don't figure out a better system for cleaning the bathroom...if you know what I mean. read more

Dirty and run down. Zero paper towels in the Women's bathroom, not to mention it was dirty. Oh, and the coffee sucks. If you are a plant based person, the veggie burger at the Mexican food place sucked, it is a black spicy bean burger. Even the lot lizard do not work this place, it's even too nasty for them. Way to lower the bar union 76. Tip...go down the road. read more

Uhmmm unless it's an emergency stop, I would highly suggest you stop somewhere prior to or after this location. It's really, really dirty. I went into the ladies room and opened three stalls that have crap (literally) all over the seat until I got to one that appeared clean at first look but smelt strongly of urine - figured it was on the floor somewhere. When I went to flush I saw a thick layer of gunk on the seat. I've never seen anything like it. It's was like an inch thick. I can forgive a busy place that isn't well staffed and only able to clean their toilets once a day but this had to have been months worth of build up. Also to give you an idea of the whole quality of building there was also a leak in the ceiling. Flies in the subway and all the tables were dirty. Not to mention the gas is really pricey. The outside looks great, don't let it fool you! read more

Does getting charged 25% extra on gas sound appealing? How about pulling up to a pump that's out of order just to compete for another pump that's out of order? Do you love waiting in line to smell the aroma of smelly stinky trashy unmaintained restrooms? Well you're in luck! This is the place for you! Oh, and there's also a patrol cop on duty in the parking lot just to make sure the hoards of cars and people are keeping the peace and not fighting over the amazing services here. However, if you want to drive an extra 5 miles north, you'll be disappointed with extremely lower gas prices and better service. Your call. read more

This place is HORRIBLE and filthy! I came here as we were heading on a road trip to San Francisco.the bathrooms were disgusting and I swear you could smell it all over the service area. The reviews are all over the map for this place, but let's get priorities straight...when you gotta pee, ya gotta pee!. But, to my surprise this place was great. It was clean and well organized. There is a gas station and a couple fast food restaurants inside (Subway if I recall). Anyway, they also have a massage service inside. I didn't try it, but it is there. They also have a big lawn area replete with trees! Great for walking to dog. There are tables and seating where you can sit outside by a fountain and eat...It was over 100 the day I drove through so I skipped that, but it's there. I didn't see any creepy people, just mostly families and travelers like myself. It is in the middle of NOWHERE and it is all that is there (except the correctional facility). read more

If you have ever traveled Hiway 5 from the Bay Area to So. CA, you know the facilities available to the traveler can be rather iffy. We were very pleasantly surprised to discover this facility. It is a very large gas station and mini mart. The truckers and their big rigs are serviced on one side of the station and the automobiles on the other. There are lots of pumps so there is no need to wait in line. The mini mart is large, new, light and bright and well stocked with ice cream treats, fresh coffee, and everything a traveler can need. Best of all were the large ,bright and super clean restrooms. Lots of white tile with blue glass trim. The floors had just been scrubbed as we entered. What a welcome treat to find facilities that are so well kept. We highly recommend you make your travel stop here. read more

This was the most pleasant stop for us on our 8 hour trip up and down I-5. The bathrooms are clean and spacious. We enjoyed all the space to gas up, and there is a great spot to stretch and run around. Lots of great snacks too! Most of all, the owners are wonderful! My friend accidentally left her wallet there and they were kind enough to make the effort to find her contact information and mail it back to her! This was a great relief to her, thanks to their going above and beyond with customer service. Make a note of it as a great stop along I-5! read more

All in all, the gas station itself is nicely light and has a fairly wide variety of items. They've got a milkshake machine thing too, which is cool. BUT almost nothing has prices on it, which is annoying. More annoying is how dismissive and stand-offish the workers are. There were 4 people working when I went in on a Monday evening, two at each counter. When I went to the counter the first guy just seemed confused, he stared at me blankly. When I asked if I could pay he said he didn't think so and to go to the other register. The girl at that register didn't say a word to me but "here ya go" when she handed me change, then went right back to chatting with her other coworker. When I walked by out my friends were paying at the other counter, so I don't know why I couldn't pay there. It wasn't even that they were talking to their coworkers, just they seemed completely unaware that they were actually in a place getting paid to interact with other humans. I understand having a bad day, I understand being bored, but there is no reason all four of you should just seem completely disengaged and unfriendly. Eeh, I'd rather drive a few more miles and at least get help from someone who can look me in the eye or say a few words. read more

A great place to stop at if you're in an RV for lunch. There is a huge area for large vehicles to park. Very clean, including the bathrooms. The only reason for one less star is because the gas prices were $1 more per gallon than any other place! Won't be stopping here again. read more

Man, I've been to a lot of gas stops in my day, and I have to tell you guys, this one is the worst. These kids workin' the counter need to step up their game. I'm standing at the counter waiting to get chicken tenders for like 5 minutes and there's 4 kids standing back there with their heads up there asses. So I finally go, "hey can I get some help?" And this one fool stuffing his face with a burrito is like, "yeah we're closed.." Make me feel like an idiot!!! So I go over to the other counter, and I ask about the chicken tenders, this one chick was like "oh it's one for a dollar. I'm like, nah, an just settle for some jalepeno poppers. 3 for 1.85 ok. WORST. POPPERS. EVER. But whatever. So I get back to the van right, and my buddy rolls up with with like 5 or six tenders and says they were two for a dollar!!?!?! What the shit?!? Now anyone that knows me can tell you that the Antman loves his tenders. This jerk lady behind the counter straight up lied to me. Bold faced lied to me!!!!! Destroyed me dreams. I'm pissed.
