My boyfriend was in desperate need of some cheap jeans and Jay Jays is a really great alternative to the more expensive shops in Melbourne Central. I'm a cheap ass and really can't afford to pay 90 dollars for a pair of jeans (unfortunately) so I took him to Jay Jays.
As far as jeans go, there's no such thing as an "ugly" pair of jeans - you cannot go wrong with that unless you purposely rewind time to the 90s and rip the jeans at the knees or make them bellbottoms. What I DON'T like are the other options at Jay Jays.
No offense (yes offense), but the fashion here is awkward and horrendous. It's an awful attempt at being American, with random t-shirts with American cities on them. I just ask myself... why would a native Melbournian want a t-shirt with CHICAGO on it? Who came up with that clever marketing scheme?
That being said, if you look past all the strangeness of this store, you'll end up with some really great deals that don't skimp on quality either. I tried on a pair of jeans as well and although they didn't really fit (I have Chun Li thunder thighs), were still flexible and fashionable.
Customer Service:
They have an "edgy" look, but when push comes to shove they seem to be decently friendly. Nothing outstanding, but I'm glad they didn't make a fuss when I sat on a bench being used for a t-shirt display while waiting for my boyfriend to finish trying on jeans. read more
