Cutest coffee shop! Rustic and cozy ambiance with an uplifting vibe. You can definitely feel you're up north when stepping in here! The coffee was super amazing! Service was friendly. For a Sunday morning, it was busy and getting our coffee took longer than expected (which was understandable). Lots of room for seating inside and outside on the patio. Will definitely stop here at our next visit up north!

You 100% need to get the maple coffee. It reminds me exactly of maple candy. The location had a fairly lengthy line but it went by fast.

Everything about Java Moose is incredible! Each day we were visiting Grand Marais (including on our way out of town) we made a stop here for the delicious breakfast sandwich and awesome Cold Press. Sara was beyond impressive. She has such a way with customers! I am sad to be drinking coffee back home while working. I also came home with a magnet, sticker, and keychain. Loved the feel of the place and you know if there is a line, you will not be disappointed!

Defiantly the best coffee in the area and they have reliable hours ( bakery in town does not). Java Moose gets busy so be sure to add in time to wait as there is no express or drive thru option. I had the regular brew and elderberry croissant, the croissant was below average and had a sugar frosting on top I didn't like. The coffee was nice a robust though, I enjoyed it.

You need to stop here! Awesome coffee and espresso It's so good I don't want to go to that other place that starts with an s and ends in bucks! Local Family owned and run business awesome customer service Super clean place and friendly staff Did I mention the awesome prices and merch? I only wish I could give them more than five stars!!

This is a pretty nice small town feeling place! It can be challenging to find a table though especially at peak hours. The coffee is good, and they typically have some nice rotating specialty drinks with fun names. It's also like the only place to get coffee in Grand Marais, so it's certainly worth checking out if you're on the North Shore!

Every other time I've been to Grand Marais, there's been a line out the door for Java Moose. This time, with it being inclement weather and past-peak season, we finally got to give it a try! What a cozy, darling little spot to grab a coffee. The interior design is so woodsy and cozy, with vintage thermoses, wood elements, deer antlers and comfy chairs. Menu was straightforeward: iced drinks, hot drinks with classics, and then a handful of specialty / seasonal drinks. They also offer some baked goods and a breakfast and lunch sandwich. I chose the hot chai latte, and it was perfect: not overly sweet and well spiced. My parents got the maple latte and lighthouse latte, and both really enjoyed their drink. We got lucky and got a few comfy chairs in the corner - when busy, it can be hard to find a seat. They have a small patio that's nice when it's warm out! Great coffee shop - one of the only options in Grand Marais!

This place was fun and must be popular place was packed. We got 3 drinks and a cookie. I had the maple latte blended with whip cream was so good. A hot chocolate with whipped cream and a coffee drink. This was so yummy and the cookie was very tasty. Definitely not the run of the mill place. They seem to be a good family owned place with hard working staff. Definitely support local Thai is good choice

Perfect Coffee Shop in the most perfect little town!! By the lines out the door, I'm not the only one that feels this way. Worth the wait. I tried 3 different drinks (6 if you count the 3 I tried of the Hubs). All of them delicious. They make the cup exactly the way I like mine, soft flavoring, along side a strong brew. Not too sweet to give you sugar high, just an exquisite sip from start to finish. Well done, Java Moose.

When in Grand Marais, stop at Java Moose! It's a cute little coffee shop in town with the sweetest owner. I ordered the moon shadow mocha off the recommendation of another local shop owner. So smooth and delicious. I ordered it with oat milk and it has almond and mocha flavors. The owner was taking orders and she was so personable and greeted everyone with such brightness. They have a small selection of food and you can get merch there too! Coffee, sweats, hats and stickers. Loved the vintage thermos displays too. Just a lovely experience. Just one note, in the busy season, you will wait in line.

Coffee is the yummiest, the staff is the best, and it's always fun! We always get espresso beans for our machine and they are delicious. We're also a big fan of the medium roast

I went here twice with my 8 year old daughter while camping near Grand Marais. She had a chocolate muffin and I had a breakfast sandwich and a latte. I was pleasantly surprised how good the coffee was as well as the sandwich. Very well made latte and delicious! Highly recommend!

I love the quaint aesthetic and furniture, the ample seating, the friendly baristas, the inviting atmosphere, the drinks, and the baked goods. The croissants (Saturdays only) and the blueberry ginger loaf (gluten free) are TO DIE FOR. Seriously, so yummy, I didn't even know the loaf was gluten-free the first time I got it.. I would love to know the recipe! As for their drinks, I usually get an Americano which is consistently good. But I've also gotten a latte and mocha (made with real chocolate) before and they were also wonderful. Best of all, all proceeds from their sales go towards supporting the women's shelter. I love supporting this business.

What's extra cool is that it's inside a beautiful church with beautiful stained glass windows and the employees are actually volunteers who give their time and the profits go to the church to be used for the community (apparently they're building a youth community center in town). I don't go to church, but it was so peaceful being there. It's definitely an experience--not your typical coffeeshop visit. I wish we had a church-coffeeshop-bakery all in one where I live. My only complaint is, okay two actually: 1) have a plastic lid that covers your baked goods from the flies 2) please don't play the same playlist--even if it was pretty music--every day; I was there every day for a week and was almost going out of my mind, haha.

The cafe had better vibes for chatting rather than for working / studying. I was hoping there would be more of a baked goods selection (they seem to carry the Donut Run's baked goods sometimes), but when I got there later in the afternoon, there was only one type of cookie left and it wasn't very appealing to me. I ordered a decaf gingerbread latte (seasonal special) which, aside from being a little too sweet for my liking, was a good latte in other regards.

So I was very excited to see that the Thunder Bay tradition of very cozy coffee places where you could come and study, read or catch up with friends still existed. The waitress at the counter was very friendly and very professional. She told us that we could go sit down anywhere and she'd bring our drinks out to us. I ordered a vanilla cafe latte. It came out in a nice large mug and was really tasty, better than what I've had at Starbucks and Second Cup. They had a large selection of other hot drinks and cold drinks, and some tasty looking snacks on the counter (which I proudly managed to ignore this time around). I had a medium latte, which was priced around $3.50. The decor was very nice and relaxing. I loved the warm dark colors that made for a really nice, seclusive environment. My only complaint is that there were only three booths in which to sit at. All three were occupied when we arrived; two of which by one individual each. It'd be a lot nicer if they had a couple more booths on the opposite wall since I much preferred sitting at them than sitting at the individual tables. With really wide table-tops, it looks like an awesome place to go to get some work done without interruption. I'll definitely go back here next chance I get.

This is not an overly large restaurant, so if you want to really get a great seat inside or out, going during non-peak hours! There is a wrap around pouch and this is dining right on the water! Food: We started with an IPA that my boyfriend said was great! I got their house made maple cream soda. It was very light in flavor, so I wouldn't get that again. We started with the Trout chowder and holy yum!!! The flavor was so tasty! It had large pieces of fish and veggies! Definitely worth trying! We both got the fish and chips with coleslaw. It was super tasty! The fish was fresh and had a crunchy exterior! Their tartar sauce has a yummy dill flavor! I would buy a bottle if you could! To end we had the Kladdkaka! THIS IS NOT TO BE MISSED! It was rich and decadent! I really wish they served it with real whipped cream because it deserves it! If you are anywhere near this area, stop in!!

They've been great every time we've gone -- we always go with the fish of the day, which today was grilled whitefish. Love the sauces that come with the fritters! Chili-honey, and aioli.
