In summer, this is a really nice place to sit - part shade, part sun, and out of the wind. The owners are incredibly friendly, and you get the sense that it's a family business. The coffee is fairly average and there is nothing particularly amazing on the menu, but I did like the fact that a) the owners were so smiley and considerate (they were worried that we were cold), and the biscotti was fresh, rich and full of goodies (rather than being stale and dry, like most biscotti around the traps). I liked it a lot - despite the Bronte name, this place is totally without pretensions, and it is certainly not a hipster hangout. But it would be a great place to steal away to and read a newspaper in the sun (if it ever stops raining). There is also a saxophone in the cafe, sitting around, just waiting for someone to pick it up and play it. You know, Fernside has a guitar, other cafes have chalkboards or paper tablecloths, but Jane Eyre offers a big shiny Sax for anyone feeling creative.

Therefore, it has a good name to it in the community and surrounds. We can certainly see why. Everything was absolutely on point. The space is rustic, wooden panelled walls and wooden tables, some with mosaic tiles. Seats are made plush with cushions and the space is decorated with bird cages and bunches upon bunches of flowers. This styling makes it feel homely and comfortable. The space is large, with a few seated spaces, so you could certainly take a group there. Order at the counter, and you can select from the wide menu or something small (and sweet from the glassed display shelf). The menu is superb and we could have ordered so many things - healthy açai bowls, to eggs benny, brekkie boards, French toast or waffles, it's a shame we could only fit three things in our bellies! Glacage has three brekkie boards to choose from: the Glacage, Aussie and Mediterranean. We went for the Mediterranean - a generous service of chorizo, haloumi, mushroom, eggs, olives and more! A healthy brekkie that is certainly possible to share. Sautéed mushrooms on toasted sourdough, with truffled mayonnaise, steamed asparagus, and crunchy poached eggs, topped with micro herbs. The mayo was divine and we really enjoyed the truffle flavour to the dish. We would 100% order this time and time again. We also couldn't go past the strawberry cheesecake waffles for a sweet choice to end the meal. The crunchy waffles were topped with and a granola crumb. A must order for those with a sweet tooth. Coffee by St Ali Coffee Roaster, fresh juices, smoothies and more, you will find a drink to suit your meal. We went for a coffee and chai which were both lovely blends. Apparently we all get up early and are taking the kids to sport - we tried 2 cafe's before this one!!

The coffee is good and despite having a reputation of bad service, I've always had good experiences here. I'll be back. I have this place on my weekend brunch rotation schedule.

They also offer takeaway. You can get your typical brunch items, but once 12pm rolls around you can order burgers/sandwiches as well. I ordered the cheesy wagyu burger with shoestring fries and it was decent. It didn't blow my mind but it wasn't bad either. The service is great, as the staff is extremely friendly. Some tables are shared as well and there's outdoor seating, definitely a place to kick it to kill some time. Would come here again.

We ventured in for brunch one Sunday: 4 adults and 1 finicky kid and made use of their outdoor space to the rear of the café. Service was chipper, charming and prompt but best of all the food was a delight. Finicky kid is a direct product of finicky Mum but here I found at least 5 dishes that tempted me before I finally plumped for salmon fishcakes. Just the ticket, in fact brunch was enthusiastically gobbled by all (except the finicky kid) with promises made to go back for dinner. Really, really worth checking out.

At first glance it's kind of overwhelming as it was our first time but watching what people ordered gave us ideas if what we wanted. My better half got the eggs and ham with no bun or starches ($6.00). I got the egg and bacon roll with BBQ sauce $6.50). The roll was bigger than the hotdog buns we are used to in the States. Really impressed in the quality and quality of the ham and bacon they gave. The better half needs to have coffee and said it was really good. No bitterness at all and yes she drinks it black. This place is located on the northern side of the station. There is 6 stools to sit and eat inside or tables outside to take in some people watching.

I do ask myself though, would Malibu be Malibu without this quirk? Probably not, so I will endure the service for the love of the food.
