I followed Dr. Nordyke from Straub Hawaii Kai -- and I'm incredibly grateful that I did. In 2022, I…read morediscovered a bump on the side of my throat. At the time, most appointments were still being conducted virtually, but despite the limitations, Dr. Nordyke acted quickly and decisively. He immediately fast-tracked me to Straub for a biopsy. When the first results came back inconclusive, he didn't hesitate -- he recommended a PET scan as the next step. Although another provider initially questioned the need for a scan and repeated the biopsy -- which was once again inconclusive -- Dr. Nordyke persisted. Thanks to his insistence and proactive care, I received the PET scan promptly, which ultimately led to the discovery and treatment of cancer located in my tonsils. Since then, he's continued to go above and beyond. Whether it's coordinating medication for my travels, addressing any health concerns I have, or simply being available when I need him, Dr. Nordyke has been consistently attentive, responsive, and thorough. His expertise, diligence, and genuine care truly set him apart -- I couldn't ask for a better doctor.

He would never examine her without me being there and made sure of that. Use to see him at Kahaluu Clinic until false complaints were made and then he had to shut down but I still see him faithfully at his Aina Haina Office even if it's now totally out of my way! Dr Nicol has done so much for us in the Kahaluu Community and we all still miss him not having his Office here in Kahaluu. Sharon is wonderful and is always accommodating towards your schedule making sure you'll be seen by Dr Nicol. What's wonderful is that he makes you feel so comfortable as if you are part of his family and you can talk to him about anything that you may have concerns about. I will tell you there are many of us that will travel out of our way to still have him take care of us, and so many of us that are proud to call him our Doctor and LOVE him as well!

I found this office to be so helpful, so welcoming even referring other areas of practice since being new to Oahu. I can just say Sharon was incredibly impressive and so I felt compelled to let others know, this office try's to work with your schedule, personal and impressive from my few contacts thus far with them. UPDATE: MET DR. AND HE WAS PROFESSIONAL, VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, ON TIME, SPOKE WITH CONCERN AND GOOD EXPLANATION AND I CANT FIND ONE THING NEGATIVE TO SAY- NONE.

Physicians do travel and don't stay at the same location and since I'm tied to a specific one for workers comp which he's usually here on the particular day I visited but found out later that he wouldn't be but there is a doctor that would be able to fulfill my appointment was great. This Kahala location is literally located right outside of Kahala Mall though to access their parking lot you need to drive into Kahala Mall back parking lot and there's a driveway that will take you to the back side of the building. Entrance there is just the stairs but the front is wheelchair accessible but either way it's a nice spot that can get crowded. Lovely spot that quite different as the waiting room seems like it's for both patients and folks waiting for them as there seems to be spots you can work on and single stall restroom for convenience the staff there is very nice and friendly and some are based here for all sort of paperwork so I did finally get to meet some of the amazing staff. Inside is very roomy and spacious and the quality care they give is very calming and thoughtful. I got my appointment done and I'm all set for the year love this location and it is my preferred area but I do hope that I don't need a visit any time soon. Thank you!

This was my first visit (and probably my only visit) to the Straub Benioff Medical Center - Hawai'i…read moreKai Clinic because my GYN, whom I've been a patient of for the past 30-plus years, had transferred from Kapi'olani Medical Center on Honolulu's Punahou Street. Admittedly, since moving into the Kaka'ako neighborhood, I've been spoiled by the short 2-mile drives from my home to Kapi'olani Medical Center, where my women's health care physicians are located. In the past, I've never had to travel any further than 8 miles to Kapi'olani Medical Center. However, because I was still recovering from my total knee replacement surgery, which was done in late July, I had to reschedule my annual September exam for my lady-bits to December. In June, when I called the women's health clinic to reschedule the yearly exam, the receptionist notified me that my GYN (Dr. Gary Kimoto) was transferring his practice to the Straub Benioff Medical Center - Hawaii Kai, and that scheduling patient visits past September wasn't available yet. The receptionist recommended that I call again in September to check availability for December. Of course, his office did inform me there were several other physicians within the Kapi'olani Women's Health Clinic who I could select for either an earlier appointment in October or November at the convenient Honolulu medical center, but, since I wasn't in a rush for an appointment and out of respect, I preferred to have Dr. Kimoto provide a referral. Anyway, I got the directions to this Hawai'i Kai Clinic from one of the receptionists, who gave succinct instructions to drive and turn left onto Lunalilo Home Road from Kalaniana'ole Highway, turn into the driveway and parking lot where the Taco Bell is located, and look towards the mountainside of the parking lot for the covered walkway. Fortunately, we had a 30-minute leisurely drive to East O'ahu during mid-morning, didn't encounter heavy traffic, and arrived 20 minutes before the anticipated check-in time. Upon entering the clinic, five receptionists were either handling phone calls or attending to walk-in patients. One of the friendly receptionists greeted me, and I informed her of my appointment time and provided her with my identification and medical insurance cards. She verified that all the information was on file and pointed towards the patient lobby on my left. I waited no longer than 15 minutes when Dr. Kimoto's nurse assistant, Victoria, came out to escort me to an examination room. While following her from the lobby to the exam rooms, I started to feel like I was in a labyrinth and did my best to look for clues that would lead me out. Unlike sitting in a cold examination room at the medical center while having my vitals taken and verifying my medical information, the exam room was comfortable, warm, and cozy. I was so relaxed that even my blood pressure and pulse rate, which are usually elevated due to "white coat syndrome," were at low levels like when I was an avid runner. LOL! If I lived in East O'ahu and needed convenient, compassionate, and quality health care with friendly service, I'd recommend this clinic. However, I don't know whether this clinic is equipped to handle major medical emergencies or procedures.
