I had to hobble my pregnant self, in the middle of 2020 Covid, to the nearest and most readily available foot doctor in the area. Of course it was Dr. Phelps's office and now I know why. For starters, he has terrible bedside manner. Not understanding, very dismissive. The man told me two of my toes weren't moving because it was "in my mind" and that where I hurt my foot wouldn't cause that. Well I have news for him, those two toes on the end of my foot still don't bend with the rest of my toes. He talked to me like I was an idiot. I'm a 32 year old mother of 3 with advanced degrees. I am most assuredly not an idiot. Never mind it was very early into Covid, and I was very pregnant. Some sympathy and kindness would have been nice. The office staff were all very friendly; I will give them that. Well now here we are THREE YEARS LATER and I find out I've been sent to collections for a bill I paid IN FULL THREE YEARS AGO. I have the proof for the exact amount on my checking account. Unbelievable. So now I get to deal with the collections agency and dispute this for my credit record and I paid it when we received the bill THREE YEARS AGO. The kicker is I can't even call their office today to let them know how mad I am because they close at 1p for the day Absolutely do not ever go to this office. I see a recent claim on Google that they apparently hand out gift cards for good reviews, so don't believe the ones you see.

However, I had to come back in and get another ingrown out that I thought I would be able to get myself. It left it a fragment which caused pain. And needed medical intervention. I anticipated the needle going into my toe and being anesthetized like the time before, but Dr. Johnson said it would be small and no big deal. He proceeded to use some freeze spray (which only takes maybe the initial sting away) and then went right in. He operated quickly, and intensely, being very rough never offering to stop or providing anesthetic besides the initial freeze spray. He made comments to me acknowledging he knew how much pain I was in. Stuff like "Oh I know, bad doctor bad doctor" and continued to cut all the way to the nail matrix. With NO anesthetic. I can only imagine this is what true torture feels like. After the procedure he stuffed cotton under my raw dug out toe nail while I wailed in agony. Don't think it's standard procedure to do that to someone without anesthetic. It was torturous and completely unnecessary. He showed no empathy or remorse and didn't ask me once if I wanted anesthetic. Cost me $50 and the worst pain I've ever felt. I'm not coming back. And highly advise others to consider going elsewhere to have your ingrown removed if you value being treated with respect like a human being. After the procedure I was burdened with a week's worth of nightmares regarding the experience along with emotional distress and lots of crying. I feel like Ive been completely violated and will continue to use my voice and speak out about the medical malpractice I experienced from this doctor.
