Garber paralyzed me, literally, from the waist down for 20 hours. His arrogance write a check that I will spend the rest of my life cashing. I went to see him for chronic back pain subsequent to multiple fusions. He did the test to install a pain stimulator and it was wonderful. The test that is. I could turn my pain off by turning a dial. We scheduled the surgery to install the permanent device. The surgery apparently went off without a problem and I went home only to wake up the next day completely distended it throughout my abdomen and looking 17 months pregnant. It turned out that he had missed a bleeder that have been bleeding internally all night long. My wife called an ambulance and we proceeded to go to the hospital on saint Rose parkway where the head of the ER immediately prepared the OnStaff neurosurgeon and a surgical suite to remove the device and stop the bleeding and of course to remove the blood.
This is where it gets truly despicable.
Garber got on the phone with my wife as by this time I was in and out of consciousness. I quite literally yelled at her that he was the only one qualified to remove the device as he is the one who put it in and only he, only he, only he could ensure that I would be okay. Not knowing what else to do my wife agreed. This took almost a half an hour. I was then transported by ambulance to centennial hills. 35 MINUTES AWAY!
While I was in the ambulance I felt my legs go numb.
I have no idea how long it took before I got into the surgical suite and he removed the device and drain the internal bleed which had become a hematoma which had compressed my spinal cord causing paralysis. What I do know is it the over 1 1/2 hour delay from what I got to saint Rose hospital doing my legs went numb what's the difference in the course of my life. I 100% believe that if I had simply been taken upstairs at st. Rose upon my arrival and had they removed the device and the blood at that time I never would have suffered over 20 hours of paralysis. After the 20 hours I did get the use of my legs back and I am able to walk, but I cannot walk far and I frequently use a cane and I will never walk with the smoothness or the grace that I once did. My days of skiing, basketball, sports in general, even going for a long walk with my wife and our dog, those days are over.
Immediately after the surgery to remove the device, he went on vacation! That was the last time I ever saw him face to face. I was in the hospital for 4 weeks and he never once came by! After I was out, I went to his office for follow up on multiple occasions and not once did he ever come into the room with me to see how I was doing. In fact, when he would see me in the office he would have mediately act as if something was urgently happening, turn away from me and scurry in the opposite direction, like the little weasel that I believed him to be. his staff treated me like I was the biggest inconvenience they had ever had to tolerate. I can't possibly express my rage and disgust with both Dr garbor and the people that surround him.
To this day my legs have never been, and will never be the same. They feel weak and shaky and thick and rubbery. When I have to go up or down stairs I have to stop and brace myself and make sure I'm holding on tightly to the handrail. Of course my feet tingle and burn all the time and all of this is directly related to his arrogance that he is the only only only one who could fix me. The reality is he is the only only only one who ruined my life.
Go to this arrogant little man at your own risk. All I know is my life will never be the same in the worst way imaginable read more
