I was interested in having my amalgam fillings replace. After an internet search I found Live Well Dental. Scheduled an appointment and went in. I spoke with Dr Chang about my goals and he gave me his suggestions. However, when I asked for and estimate on the cost, he acted very confused and proceeded to tell me he would have a CBCT scan to have a hole package in place. I asked if he could just give me a rough estimate before we go through with the scan. I didn't want to pay for the scan if having the procedure was out of my budget. He continued to act very confused so I decided to get up and leave. When I spoke with the receptionist on my way out, she was able to give me a rough estimate with no problem. If Dr. Chang had just done that when I asked, then I would have moved forward with the CBCT scan. The staff was very nice however I will not be back due to this uncomfortable encounter with Dr. Chang. read more

I loved my old dentist so much, so when he finally retired (in his 80s), I wasn't looking forward to finding a new dentist. Years ago, I had met someone who used to work as hygienist at Live Well, and she told me such great things about Dr. Chang's practice. Since I live in Seattle, I had wanted to find a dentist who was closer, so deferred working with Dr. Chang and had a few appointments with another holistic dentist in Seattle. I finally decided that I needed to go to Dr. Chang, and patiently waited 6+ months on his waiting list before getting my introductory appointment. I am thrilled to have found such a great high quality holistic dentist! I loved my hygienist and all the office staff. I really appreciated how communicative and kind Celia was. I was very happy that Rita, my hygienist, didn't give me a lecture on how to floss my teeth, and instead talked to me about some of the underlying causes that cause plaque that have nothing to do with brushing or flossing. She was non-judgmental and left me feeling empowered. She treated me with such respect, like I was an equal. Dr. Chang posed an idea to me about my Hashimoto's that has never occurred to me before, and I'm excited to learn more about it! I felt very inspired talking to everyone today and this office has certainly won my trust! I want to say up front, I am not a review writer. However, there are a few outstanding exceptions and this is one. I have been looking for a dentist with an understanding of people who are sensitive and have some fear of dental work. I also wanted someone who was thorough but conservative. Additionally, I was looking for someone who, if and when the time came, had excellent technology and skills with updated knowledge on techniques, products and tools (like O3, homeopathy, etc.) to address any issues. It was also very important that I felt safe and comfortable with the doctor and staff, and that I felt heard. I can honestly say I had every box checked, and I can hardly believe it. Jason's team is world class. Jason's team uses cutting edge technology like water jets to clean teeth which is much more pleasant than scraping with a stainless steel tool. I sought out Dr. Chang because I got told by my regular dentist that I needed a crown in a cracked tooth, and I wanted to explore more conservative alternatives. Dr. Chang does biomimetric dentistry, which uses the most modern materials that mimic the tooth's natural properties, which helps conserve healthy tooth material (instead of aggressively removing healthy tooth like a crown does). He was able to do an onlay for me rather than crown my tooth, and I'm very happy about it. It's been about six weeks now, and my tooth is doing great; I'm again able to chew on that side without pain. I enjoyed Dr. Chang's style and his staff, they are highly professional. He explained everything he was doing as he did it, which I really appreciate. I just like to know what's going to happen, as medical procedures can be a vulnerable and unsettling experience sometimes. He and his staff made me as comfortable as possible by communicating well. I really loved that he doesn't have a flashy, overdone office (my Mom's oral surgeon was installing an enormous fishtank the last time we were there, which obviously cost many thousands of dollars. And there were like 20 leather chairs in the waiting room. No wonder they charge her so much!) By contrast, Dr. Chang's office is clean and well-equipped, but it's not over-the-top fancy; he's not charging you extra to pay for his wall-sized fishtank, or putting TVs in the ceiling. He's putting the money back into the latest and greatest equipment to take care of your teeth, and I like that. He was able to make my onlay on his CERAC machine in about 25 minutes -- so I only had to make one visit to his office to get this whole thing taken care of! This was great for me, since I came all the way from Tacoma to see him. The trip was well worth it - I will go back to him anytime I need work in the future. I've had two root canals done in the last year with Dr. Chang and his staff. They made the experience comfortable and easy. When I asked for gas, they didn't look down on me or roll their eyes. He's safely removed and replaced amalgam fillings, saved a tooth from capping or root canal with his minimally invasive procedures, and filled new cavities. I have been going to Dr. Chang for about 6 years at his old location in Everett. I use a wheelchair and the old building and parking lot were less than desirable but the staff always went out of their way to accommodate my needs as best they could. So I was as happy as they were when they moved to the new location in Snohomish. It is beautiful, accessible, and perfect for my needs. I have always been terrified of going to the dentist but Dr. Chang, and his predecessor, Dr. Gerald Rafael, put my fears to rest. I've had the pleasure of visiting Dr. Jason Chang's dental office on two occasions now. On both occasions, I found Dr. Chang and his staff to be friendly and kind. My first visit to Dr. Chang's office I drove up from Portland, OR for an ozone treatment. A few years prior to this, I had my wisdom teeth removed. It turns out that one wisdom tooth was infected, so the oral surgeon put me on a round of penicillin after the surgery to treat the infection. Despite this, the wisdom tooth cavity became reinfected and I had to go in a second time for them to open up the cavity and clean it out. I was then put on a second round of penicillin to treat the infection (even though it failed to solve the problem the first time around), all the while my body was reacting very badly to the antibiotics. Not to be overly dramatic, but at the time I thought that this wisdom tooth infection/antibiotic ordeal might just be the death of me. Fast forward a few years... I was still experiencing some intermittent inflammation and discomfort in the area of the previously infected wisdom tooth. Around this time, I heard about ozone and it's various dental applications. I wanted to give it a try, but couldn't find dentists in Oregon who use it. So I drove up to Livewell Dental Center in Everett, WA. A single ozone treatment to the previously infected wisdom tooth area and the intermittent inflammation and discomfort I had been experiencing for the past 3 years was magically gone. I wish I had known about ozone and Dr. Chang's office a few years prior - I could have saved myself from a lot of misery. Personally, I think that dentists should be using ozone to prevent and treat infections, not antibiotics which have long-term health consequences. However, since there didn't seem to be any real alternative promising less potential health risks, I did some internet research in the hopes of finding a dentist in the Seattle area using ozone and a more /biological approach to dentistry. After some internet research I found Dr Chang, who was so kind to fit me in on short notice. He and his staff stayed late to finish up with my root canal and a filling in another tooth. Looking for a new dentist. Did some research and found Dr. Chang. We are off to a rocky start. Called on a Friday afternoon with dental pain. I left a message with an answering service, I did not hear from anyone. Called back the following week, someone in the office indicated they had called and left a message. We have not previously experienced problems with people leaving messages. Expressed, again, the nerve pain I am experiencing. I was told there may be time in a couple of weeks to look at the tooth, briefly. The fact that there is not space for urgent care/emergencies troubles me a great deal. This may not be a good fit. I am hoping for a more positive update to this review. read more

Jason Chang DDS. PLLC. You should note PLLC. Professional Limited Liability Company. Google it. I have been going to this practice for over forty years. I have seen three dentists in that practice during that time. Jason Chang being by far the worst. He is young, has many high-tech machines and inexperienced at operating them. He does many things. Orthodontics, Lasers, CAD/CAM crowns, Dental Implants, (oh please no). Going to Jason Chang for a implant is dental suicide. I signed away my rights for my orthodontic work right at the start. (use caution I really thought it would be OK). First I had orthodontic work done ($700.00) to try to pull the teeth together to make everything look esthetic. It was a disaster Jason Chang could not solve. I had two bottom front teeth re-crowned. Once the teeth started moving he could not stop them even with massive glue and multiple retainers. (I still have glue on my bottom incisors). Then the CAD/CAM crowns, when he removed my old crowns my gum tissue was in the way of the new crowns. So he removed it with a laser. Anyone who has problems with gum tissue reduction know it will never grow back without a gum graph. So he makes me two crowns on his Cerec CAD/CAM machine and it looks like two fake pieces of porcelain with gum recession. ($1600.00) I had the crowns re-done at a dentist that uses a lab (2400.00 out of my own pocket) with custom color matching, gum countering and a real orthodontist for a removable retainer. Things are 100% better now. I wasted a year of my life stressing over Jason Changs poor dental work I will never be back. read more
