I don't typically rate businesses other than breweries and restaurants, but it seems like Norwin…read moreVeterinary Hospital needs a little love. This is our second labradoodle and we've been happy with this vet for over a decade. They saved the life of our first one by taking an extra precaution to send her to a pet surgical hospital in Pittsburgh. They wanted to be sure their diagnosis was correct, and the higher technology available at the other place showed a different problem. Their ability to recognize their own limitations rather than sending us home with meds that wouldn't have worked paid off. When our second labradoodle starting losing her hair despite the normal tests coming back negative, they took several days to research possible causes. Dr. Bendix consulted a dog dermatologist friend from Texas who recommended low dose melatonin. Yeah, the human sleep aid stimulates hair regrowth. Who knew? But the point was that they didn't give up, they took the extra time and used their connections to come up with the right answer. The other reviews talk about Norwin being expensive, and I haven't honestly run any kind of cost comparison. So maybe they are too pricey, maybe they're not. I don't know about that, but I do know that we've been very pleased with the care our pets have received here.

After an hour I called again and asked why I was still waiting and AGAIN told her my cat was very stressed. Again she told me "Oh, I'm sorry. It'll only be another 15 or 20 minutes." If you're running behind schedule and are aware you've got scheduled appointments, maybe aa heads up call or text would be in order. Unfortunately I expected a level of courtesy that this place does not have.

I don't know how someone can do such a job. This has to be a hard career to be in. It takes a…read morevery compassionate person to be able to help a person through such a difficult time. I want to say 'thank you' on behalf of my better half. My better half had to make the very difficult decision for his best pal of fifteen years. Knowing what the impending endgame was going to be he did his research. His best pal had been with him through so many different changes that he wanted to make sure that he was comfortable in a familiar place. That's where Aspen and Lap of Love come in. Knowing that the rainbow bridge is approaching for a beloved pet is hard on not only the pet owner, but the pet itself. Lap of Love makes it easy on you to be able to do this in your own home. Aspen was so kind and comforting throughout the whole procedure. She had the most soft spoken voice that put you at ease at such a difficult time. The service is provided completely in home, they come to you. They allow you to grieve in the privacy of your home and move at a pace you are comfortable with. They offer a paw print mold as a keepsake of your pal and even have where they with clip a lock of fur if you like. All said and done, it's one of the easiest, hard moments of your life. If that makes sense.

Lap of Love is a network of veterinarians around the country whose goal is to empower every owner…read moreto care for their geriatric pets in their homes. Their philosophy centers around the human-animal bond and the need for that bond to be as undisturbed as possible during the most difficult time of a pet's life. Lap of Love has some of the most compassionate and empathetic vets working with them. They offer veternanian, hospice, and end of life services for your senior citizens. All appointments take place in the patient's home. Dr. Aspen Perretta, DVM, services Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas (Allegheny County and parts of Westmoreland, Indiana, Armstrong, Butler, Beaver, Washington, and Fayette Counties). After researching many alternatives, evaluating and reevaluating our pup's quality of life, tossing and turning, and talking it over my family elected to do the in-house end of life service. The stress of moving our elderly dog and his anxiety at the vet would be too much for any of us to bear. We didn't want him to suffer and wanted him to be surrounded by family in his home. As Dr. Aspen informed us he went peacefully in his sleep. Dr. Aspen really is an angel and a spirit of calm. This is the absolute hardest and gut-wrenching experience any pet owner can go through and she really used her gentle nature to soothe everyone in the house. It was obviously a tear-filled event, but her professionalism and compassion never faltered. This must be an extremely hard job, but she does it with grace. We elected to bury our precious pup in our yard and she volunteered her gurney. Dr. Aspen is so thoughtful and loving with your family you will not regret hiring her. Whether it be for vet, hospice, or end of life services your fur baby will be in good hands. These words are all I can offer to express my gratitude to her and I still feel like it's not enough; she's as perfect as a human can be. Thank you for the paw print and lock of fur!

I called to schedule home service care for my two cats for a total of 3 days (July 10 to 12, 2021)…read more Christina and Jen came out to my home to meet the cats and so I could show them where the food, litter, and treats were located. At that time the assured me that they would come for the scheduled days and send me pictures or updates regarding my cats. When I left home on Friday I left out 2 bowls of water and 4 dishes of food. Every day that I was away I received pictures and/or updates about my cats via text message. When I arrived home Monday evening (July 12th), both bowls of water only had water covering the bottom and the food was only covering the bottom of ALL 4 food dishes. I have left my cats alone for 2 days in the past, with no one coming into the home to check on them, with the same set up of food and water(2 water bowls and 4 dishes of food). After 2 days of the cats being alone in the past, all of the bowls would still be about 80% full when I returned home. That was not the case when I returned after 4 days away with people supposedly caring for my pets. There is no way that they were filling their food and water daily, like I had contacted for them to do. I was very disappointed, but decided to just pay my bill and move on. I recently requested my keys back and they informed me they would be sent back via certified mail and there was a $20 charge to mail them per our contract. The same contract that stated the cats would be cared for daily. Their audacity in asking for $20 to get my keys back is what prompted me to leave this rating. I normally do not write reviews, but I wanted to warn others who care for their pets as much as I do, to BEWARE OF THIS SERVICE.
