We had 3 sessions with Penny for our fearful dog Jax. She gave us many exercises and tools to practice with him in order to build his confidence and reduce his exposure and reaction to triggers. Jax's issues are too wide-ranging to fully "fix" in just a couple of sessions, but with the tools we received and the behavioral medication we plan to start with our vet, I feel we are better prepared to continue the extensive work he needs to feel safe and stable. read more

Said she didn't thing she can watch them she booked surgury she will confirm Monday may 3rd texted said couldn't do it leaving us 9 days to find and replace a sitter. And we paid her $270 threw venmo on March 17th and she's refusing to return it all im getting is,when I have it yet I paid her early. I would not recommend her for future use. Paid in advance, and filled out her forms. Came to my home for pet training. Just threw treats for the dog and rambled about herself and gave life hacks for dog treats. I agree with another review who said she didn't really spend any time getting to know the dog. She said she worked with the humans first, ok and I get that. But she just gave VERY general advice on training and all of it we knew. We literally got nothing out of the training at all. She told us she was bit by a dog in the past which has clearly affected her training style. Maybe she knows her stuff and is just disorganized? I don't know but it was a huge waste of money for no help. I've noticed she has too many similar negative reviews and that is not a coincidence IMO. read more

Watch out for the "48 Hour Rule" cuz if your plans change unexpectedly, Aunt Penny gets to keep your money. Don't be deluded by the company's "affiliation" with the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. The NAPP is as bogus as a $3 bill and does nothing to monitor or discipline its "members." We had gotten MK at 3 months from Latrobe Animal Friends Rescue .The day we brought him he threw up 13 times . We were told it might be car sickness or possibly a mild virus. When it did not pass I brought him back and discovered it was PARVO!. MK had a rough childhood with many trips to the doctor so rides in that dreadful van were traumatizing to him. He has gotten to the point where even putting a leash on him would cause great fear/aggression in him. We were totally distraught and without any resolution. While many of our friends and Pet experts told us we should consider getting rid of him we chose to stick it out. We love him and have never mistreated him (perhaps MK's perspective of doctor visits was a little different). Then... a neighbor and close friend heard about "Aunt Penny". We were delighted to have Aunt Penny come over to our house and help us with MidKnight. Many trainers I contacted wouldn't come to the house for the first visit. Penny was absolutely a God send and MidKnight took to her immediately. Penny told us MK had a wonderful freindly loving, personality. She said MK Was not a aggressive dog but had fear triggers and showed us how we can work to eliminate these triggers from him - without sternness or negative correction which other trainers teach. Penny has a unique , loving, tender, non confrontational approach. She is completely opposed to choke collars, or restraints , , never forceful - a very non-traditional approach compared to many other trainers and groomers which recommended using a strict and stern almost "military" style. She is absolutely amazing, intuitive, thoughtful and completely customizes the training to the dog's temperament. I would be glad to talk to anyone about her. Sshe comes highly recommended from us. We have two dogs. One is a staffie (Cha Cha), The other dog is a lab mix (Mandy) They get in some very, very nasty fights. It is really because of the staffie (Cha Cha). We paid for a two-hour visit. She came to Butler from Irwin, PA. We were advised that we were to keep the dogs either on a leash or behind a gate. One of our dogs I had on a leash as I sat on the couch. The other was behind a gate in the kitchen. She spent most of the time discussing various things, some of which had a nugget of help. The rest of the time she demonstrated some things with Mandy, which largely included feeding her small treats pending that she was in 'compliance'. Well, there were a few issues with that. One is that she did not alternate the dogs after an hour. Her point was that her intent was to show us what to do as opposed to training the dogs that evening. I understand that rationale. Cha Cha felt left out. Why not take a minute to switch dogs? But the other thing, and more importantly is that we were really not in NEED of the dogs learning manners (which was what she spent some time with Mandy doing). We did not need to train the dogs. Dogs are in a frenzy when they fight. She did ask questions regarding the dogs. But if you are going to come to the house, then it seems to me that you would want to discern everything you can about their MANNERISMS, not just to check out the layout of the house and/or ask questions. You can ask questions or give advice on the phone. And if you do check out the layout, to check the space they have, which is important, then go the whole nine yards, and get to know the dogs. As it turned out, it was a waste of time and money for her to come to the house. But then there were several other things. When she and her husband left, she claimed they could not shake hands because the dogs might be aggressive towards them. My wife and I were both there, and it seems to me, it would have been extremely easy for them to at least shake my hands wife, while I guard our vicious man-eating dog on the couch. This was on a Thursday night. She said she would get us a write-up as soon as possible. She suggested that they fight due to a "food issue". But this was clearly false, as we told them there were several times they fought having nothing to do with food. In cases like this, you need to be precise. She also mentioned that when giving them a treat, we should put them in a cage. We mentioned to her that we do not own cages, do not believe in them, but further, if we have them separated anyway when they eat (which she suggested), why would there be a need for a cage? Here is a guess. She cuts and pastes her emails to send out depending upon the information conveyed. She must have advised the previous person about using a cage and forgot to cut it from our email. It is absolutely true that I sought her out, and did tell her that it was an emergency. So, I certainly asked for it. She was all too glad to expedite things, coming to our house about a week later (for a healthy sum of money) I am sure she knows her stuff. She gave a few good suggestions. But a dog trainer such as this, is in many ways like a weight loss service. They can give good suggestions, but that is about it. Again, I understand it is difficult to get dogs to refrain from fighting. But I would have absolutely done things differently if I were her. read more

I found out I was going to be out of town for 2 weeks due to work and was in need of someone to take care of my 2 dogs. I was excited to learn that Aunt Penny's service was able to come and look after my dogs for such a long period of time. The pet sitter was very friendly and professional and knew pet first aid and CPR. The pet sitter not only took care of my dogs by walking them daily and feeding them but was also able to administer meds to my Lab who has health issues, but also put my trash out for me, collected my mail and provided me with a message each day to let me know how my dogs were doing. I missed them so much but the care they received while I was away was extraordinary. I recommend them for ANY and ALL pet needs. read more
