I wish I had read the reviews before going in, but I was so desperate for a massage for a neck and shoulder injury that had flared up that I booked a 90 minute injury massage. As an athlete, I've had my fair share of sports massages, physical therapy, and active release therapy, so I was not expecting it to be a super relaxing affair and was prepared for some pain to make the issue get better. It was by far the most painful experience I have ever had, so much so that I left with a headache, tears, and bruises. First of all the hole for your face was so padded that it was hard to breathe, and the blue paper stuck to my face. Worst of all though, the masseuse seemed to take pride in hurting people, claiming that it was important to fix the problem areas and the only reason it hurt was not because of anything she did, but rather because my body was so messed up. Sure, I have my share of issues, but when your client is telling you that she cannot withstand the pain anymore and to please lighten up, you'd think there'd be some adjustment to the treatment provided. Today I can barely pick up my 1-year-old son, and I am not happy. To top it off, the amount of tip expected was astronomical. The lowest option she provided was 28% and it only went up from there. There was not a "no tip" option on the keypad. During what I can best describe as torture, the masseuse talked a lot and one of the stories she told me was about a customer who had an issue with her husband and him undertipping her for the services provided. I thought this was not very professional; tips are optional and can be as much or as little as one would like. The fact that the expectation was a minimum of 28% is absolutely not ok, especially for the pain she caused me. After I got home, I took a moment to read the reviews on Google that I should have read beforehand, and several people shared my experience, much like here on YELP. The mind-blowing part is the owner took the time to write very angry messages to anyone who dared to critique the services provided. There was no willingness to learn from what people were saying, to adjust her practices, to apologize, or to right any wrongs. Summarized, do not go here and heed the warnings from those who were brave enough to say something inspite of their names being posted. Find somewhere else- your body will thank you later! read more

The massage is very deep, I think it helped. I quit going because she charged me $150.00 for 90 minutes and then told me my tip wasn't large enough. I left around 15% because she charged me $100 an hour. That is what very nice full out spas charge. Her massage table is insufficient, not enough padding and no heat. Only a towel to cover you body with. No candle, no relaxing music. No receptionist, answers phone while in the middle of your massage. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before going in. I have had many professional massages in the past, and this one was definitely the least professional. Paying up front? That was very strange to start (she didn't make me tip her upfront, like I've seen in other reviews--that would have made me leave right there). The massage went fine, except she seems to believe that whenever she applies too much pressure causing pain, that's a "problem area." No, that's just her pressing too hard. I have TWO family members who are long-time educated massage therapists, and they agree a massage SHOULD NOT HURT if you don't want it to. That should seem obvious, anyway. She answered a cell phone DURING my massage. Also a first in my experience. Just bizarre and unprofessional. I gave her a small tip. I would have given at least $20 if the experience was the agreed-upon length and perfectly relaxing, but it wasn't. She asked for more (of course she counted immediately), but I explained that my time was shorted, so her tip was shorted. Not to mention the cell phone interruption. She should consider it a price to pay for not hiring a receptionist to handle phone calls or to manage the front desk. There seems to be much better places around. Go somewhere else. read more

I was visiting from Las Vegas and randomly chose a therapist and I was absolutely blessed to find my self at jasmine massage. So i am a person who gets a message at least once a month. I travel for work so I am always on the road. This week I am visiting the Salt lake area. When looking up massage places i always read the reviews. I can tell you a couple things about the poor reviews I read. The person who wrote it obviously has never had a true deep tissue massage as most of the time they are not comfortable. If you want a soft massage ask for it or tell them you want light pressure, I know Yan would be more then happy to go light on your body. I had Yan give me heavy pressure, as I needed to get some big knots out of my back and legs. She crushed it, the pressure she is able to deliver for over an hour is mind blowing. I was very impressed with the technique as well as the fact she kept asking if I was doing ok. I will definitely be coming back to this spot next time I'm in Salt Lake. Cheers to a great message!!! I was finishing up a business trip in SLC and it had been a long 5 weeks coming into town. I was looking for a place to take all the strain out of my neck, back and legs. This is a great place if you want an awesome deep tissue massage at a reasonable price. Yan is a great therapist and extremely strong despite her petite stature. I've been coming here for about a year now to fix the chronic tightness in my back that most desk bound office workers experience. This place is not a fancy spa so don't come here with high expectations of ambiance etc. The therapists may also answer the door or the phone in between. This can be annoying but is understandable to keep the costs down. If you need a great deep tissue massage minus the frills, this is the place for you. 6 months later and I still keep going back whenever I have stiffness or soreness in my back. I've been having some circulation issues on my right arm for about a week. I couldn't take it anymore so I conveniently found Jasmine Spa. An hour massage is only $60 plus a$5 charge if you use a credit card, no biggie. Yan killed it she's damn good at what she does. This is my 2nd visit & I've seem vast improvements just after my 1st visit. This is not $60 dollar massage this is worth ah $140 dollars. I read a review posted by someone giving this place a 1 star, don't listen to that knucklehead she has no clue what a great massage is. We do not recommend this place. They start off by requiring payment up front (and guilt you into tipping before your massage even starts). They charge $5 for using a credit card. The woman giving my massage answered her cell phone and spoke with another customer during my massage. She complained about poor tips that other clients had given her as well. I have been coming to Jasmine for several years. This is not your run of the mill massage shop; this is a professional, first class athletic oriented massage. I am older and very active and when I need a deep tissue therapeutic massage this is where I go. I drive from Park City, 25 miles because this place is so good. This is great massage! Yan has been working on me for some time now and I have to say that she does the best deep tissue work I've ever had. Without me even suggesting where I was having issues, the masseuse knew exactly where my two main sore spots were. Over the years, I've had so many massages where telling the masseuse what the issue was hardly mattered. So, naturally, I said nothing this time as usual, but she knew exactly what was going on. A deep tissue massage that hurt plus the masseuse complained and answered her phone during the massage. Jasmine Spa is awesome! I would give it six stars if I could. The therapist always locates my problem spots and continuously works on it until it's gone. I always feel great the next day and thereafter. I've been to many places and the results are poor because it's nothing but a comfort massage. At Jasmine's, the motto "No Pain, No Gain" is serious. Me and my roommate went to get a massage. We arrive at the building and get in right away, we were nicely greeted and taken into a massage room. Where I was charged right away before I received the services. I paid with a debit card and was notified that it's an additional fee (of 5$) to pay with a card. I didn't have any other form of payment so I told her to go ahead and run the extra charge. As I was waiting for her to charge my card I noticed a sign that said something along the lines of "massages are hard work, tips are appreciated". So the lady brought me back the card with a pen and a receipt to sign. Total being 60, plus the 5 additional to run the card. I ended up tipping $5 because I had noticed the sign and I just thought why not. So my total was $70 for an hour deep tissue massage. I signed the card and gave it back to the lady... so not terrible. About 30 min into my massage the lady that was giving me my massage informed me that my tip was not enough and I needed to her pay more afterwards. I was so shocked that she brought that up while preforming the service, or even at all I just didn't say anything. So afterwards I go to the bathroom and proceed to leave with my roommate which she then lady who gave me my massage stands in front of the door and tells us that our tips are not enough (we both paid $5) and that the minimum tip required was $15. We were both so shocked and caught of guard. For one, we were not told this at the beginning, if I would of known I had to pay an outrageous tip for a not even that great of a service I wouldn't of had massage done there and the fact that she was standing in front of the door while giving us our recipts back telling us to fix it was so awkward I changed it to $15 and got out. Later on realizing I should of just either just left it at $5 or taken the $5 tip off because that is so ridiculous! read more
