There is parking and overflow parking-for overflow they have a cart that brings you to the gate. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the gate. They are $13 for adults and $8 for under 12 or over 60 and the ticket includes cable cart ride, aviary, butterfly garden , and a ride to the waterfall stop and observation tower, which at the end drops you off at the entrance again. It had just rained when we arrived so we didn't see a lot of butterflies, just between 10-15 monarch which were beautiful. They do have a lot of cockatoos of many colors and sizes, flamingos, and peacocks. The birds are all over, some very close to the walk path. After that you board the cart to the waterfall- it's a quick walk from the drop off point, and there's a bit of a hike to the observation tower but it's worth it. Overall it was a really fun afternoon. It can be enjoyed in 2-3 hrs taking your time

The bird and butterfly pavilions are simply amazing. The animals are so close that at times you almost wonder if they are real until a bird squawks, blinks, or moves. The experience feels much more personal than many larger attractions and was a huge hit with our children. The cable cars are an incredible experience and offer some truly spectacular views. Riding above the forest is something we will remember for a long time. However, if you have an extreme fear of heights, you should know that this attraction may be challenging. The views throughout the park are beautiful, and there are several small playgrounds where children can take a break and play. There are also long nature trails and an observation tower that offer even more opportunities to enjoy the scenery. That said, visitors should understand that this is a physically demanding park in some areas. If you have mobility limitations, certain disabilities, or are pushing a stroller, you may not be able to experience everything. There are many long walking paths, steep hills, and staircases throughout the park. The park does provide warning signs before many of these sections, so pay attention to them. The path leading to the cable cars also includes stairs, and during our visit the elevator was out of service. This made things particularly difficult for visitors with disabilities and families using strollers. Bring water. Bring snacks. Do not attempt to visit without them, especially if you plan to explore the trails. The Puerto Rico heat and the amount of walking can catch up with you quickly. Transportation is another thing visitors should plan carefully. We relied on Uber, which worked, but drivers generally only dropped us off and picked us up at the main parking lot rather than the actual park entrance. The distance is significant enough that visitors must take the shuttle bus to the entrance. The shuttle runs regularly and gets the job done, but think converted school bus rather than luxury transportation. The gift shop is somewhat small and the prices are a bit high, but honestly, it felt worthwhile. Purchasing something there felt like supporting the important work being done at the park. Overall, our family had an outstanding experience. I think Parque Forestal La Marquesa is a perfect introduction to nature and hiking for children who may not yet be ready for more demanding adventures like El Yunque. It allows kids to experience the beauty of Puerto Rico's natural environment in a setting that feels adventurous while still being family friendly. We made wonderful memories here and would absolutely visit again!

The Jardín Botánico de Caguas was constructed over what used to be the Hacienda San José, an old…read moresugar mill from back in the late 19th and early 20th century. It's a nice place to visit with the family that won't set you back. Entrance is $7 for adults and $3 for kids. Children under under 2 don't pay. Our son liked seeing the turtles, birds, and iguanas. We enjoyed a hike around the grounds. It's an easy hike, apt for all ages. There's plenty to see, from flora to sculptures. There is an indigenous ceremonial plaza, a small museum with indigenous artifacts, and of course there are some remnants of the old sugar mill. The Casa Jíbara is pretty cool. You can take a guided tour for an extra $3 or roam around on your own. If you get hungry there is a shack that serves food and refreshments. They told me that every 3rd Wednesday of each month are Noches de Galería on the evening: arts and crafts, music, and food.

Things to know. *Watch your valuables. *Dress for the hot weather. * Parking can be challenging but we drove past the mayor's office and paid to park with a security guard. *Some areas have wonderful shaded area and mist of the fountains will cool you down.

For example, a specific white Hard Rock Cafe shirt features the Parque de Bombas design on the back. I was quite surprised to learn that it was built in 1882 as a pavilion for an exhibition and later became Puerto Rico's first-ever fire station. For once, it looks nothing like a traditional fire station, and it didn't look that aged, so i suspect the city of Ponce ensures it is well maintained. It is free, but there is a donation pot just after the entrance. So, it doesnt hurt to give a few dollars to such a fine exhibit of firefighting history. On a side note, I parallel-parked on the street for free, as did a few locals. It was around the corner from Jalapeno's restaurant on a one-way street.

There are probably nearby parking lots that charge, but at least your car will be more secure. There's a short walk to the entrance, and then you'll go down a set of stairs that takes you to the bottom of the waterfall. It's definitely manageable, but make sure you stay hydrated because coming back up is a little workout! Also, be careful once you reach the bottom because the rocks can be really slippery. I busted my ass, so I'm speaking from experience! This place is truly beautiful and definitely one of the best waterfalls in Puerto Rico. If you're visiting the island, I'd definitely recommend checking it out!

Definitely wear water shoes, (or tennis shoes you don't mind getting wet.) The rocks are super slippery, but totally worth the views and the swim under the falls. If you park in the falls parking lot, you will have a super steep set of stairs to get down/ back up. There are a few overlooks that you can see the falls without walking all the way down. The drive to the falls is as much of an adventure as the falls themselves- super windy and narrow roads- but a beautiful area!

It took some damage during Hurricane María in 2017 and then during the January 2020 earthquakes. You can see some structures such as the bbq pits destroyed (I wish I had taken a picture). I don't know if the ferry is operational again. However, if you have a kayak, paddleboard or boat, you can access the island. That is what we did this past weekend. We were staying with some friends at Copamarina Beach Resort. We rented two kayaks and paddled out there. It takes about 20min each way. When we arrived there weren't many people there. It was so quiet and peaceful. It was as close as you could get to having the place to yourself. We found a nice spot and chilled. The kids loved it too. The next day we returned with drinks and snacks (we took all the trash back with us to the resort). We encountered some curious iguanas which we had to fend off so they wouldn't approach our food. Still, it was a fun day.

Get a pina cola before boarding the boat (leaves every hour on the hour). You can bring chairs, and definitely bring a cooler with drinks and a float! And lunch!! We packed up a lunch and our drinks and enjoyed the entire day there. It was beautiful. It's like a natural lazy river and beach all in one! I would highly recommend. It's incredible.

Long line: stopped at La Bellota to park. This seems to be the norm and as long as you get a Medalla from the bar no one will complain. You have to go around a gate, and from there the hike is like 70% downhill (so more fun coming back). Expect a decent amount of mud and slippery areas. For reference, my 70ish in laws made it with minor balance assistance. The spot has gotten really popular so if you notice in the first picture there was already a line forming behind us..... on a Wednesday. Make sure to get a tetanus shot before coming; rust everywhere.
