Things to know. *Watch your valuables. *Dress for the hot weather. * Parking can be challenging but we drove past the mayor's office and paid to park with a security guard. *Some areas have wonderful shaded area and mist of the fountains will cool you down.

It's adjacent to a beautiful church, waterfalls, and all sorts of other scenic areas. There is a parking lot located diagonally across the street from it where you can leave your vehicle. It only cost a few dollars to park. Enjoy!!

Definitely wear water shoes, (or tennis shoes you don't mind getting wet.) The rocks are super slippery, but totally worth the views and the swim under the falls. If you park in the falls parking lot, you will have a super steep set of stairs to get down/ back up. There are a few overlooks that you can see the falls without walking all the way down. The drive to the falls is as much of an adventure as the falls themselves- super windy and narrow roads- but a beautiful area!

I don't know if the ferry is operational again. However, if you have a kayak, paddleboard or boat, you can access the island. That is what we did this past weekend. We were staying with some friends at Copamarina Beach Resort. We rented two kayaks and paddled out there. It takes about 20min each way. When we arrived there weren't many people there. It was so quiet and peaceful. It was as close as you could get to having the place to yourself. We found a nice spot and chilled. The kids loved it too. The next day we returned with drinks and snacks (we took all the trash back with us to the resort). We encountered some curious iguanas which we had to fend off so they wouldn't approach our food. Still, it was a fun day.

Get a pina cola before boarding the boat (leaves every hour on the hour). You can bring chairs, and definitely bring a cooler with drinks and a float! And lunch!! We packed up a lunch and our drinks and enjoyed the entire day there. It was beautiful. It's like a natural lazy river and beach all in one! I would highly recommend. It's incredible.

Bottom line: 100% worth the hike. I'd say it's a low level, but that's sort of age dependent, do…read moreexpect some difficult areas and mud. Length is about 10-15 mins. There might be a line. Long line: stopped at La Bellota to park. This seems to be the norm and as long as you get a Medalla from the bar no one will complain. You have to go around a gate, and from there the hike is like 70% downhill (so more fun coming back). Expect a decent amount of mud and slippery areas. For reference, my 70ish in laws made it with minor balance assistance. The spot has gotten really popular so if you notice in the first picture there was already a line forming behind us..... on a Wednesday. Make sure to get a tetanus shot before coming; rust everywhere.

Our first full day in the area, we drove over here to see the hidden beauty. There's a lake located in the middle and there are plenty of paths to take, where you can see the iguanas or find a secluded spot on the pristine beach with crystal blue water. On some days you have to pay $2 per person. The day we visited, we didn't have to pay. You drive very slowly through the park and find a nice spot to leave your car and then just walk through any of the paths, to the beautiful beach. I would suggest finding a shaded spot for the car so that you're not entering an oven after a long day in the sun. One morning I went for a run down here. Families start arriving pretty early, in order to grab choice spots. There are no vendors on this side, so you should bring your own coolers and snacks. It's a nice place to be away from the water toys and loud beach goers, that you would find on the other side. We brought babes down here with her floaty and she had a blast in the blue water. They start closing up around 430p so make sure you have your stuff together and you're ready to leave. They make a last drive through to ensure everyone has left and then they lock the gates. Definitely a must visit.

Visiting Cueva Ventana & the other surrounding caves was a really cool experience in Arecibo,PR…read more It's def something you want to come prepared for. Make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes or trainers because it is a bit of a hike & there are rocky areas/stairs you have to climb through. It can be challenging in spots so you really do need to be ready for uneven terrain. The tour was very informative, especially learning about the bats that live in the caves & the surrounding ecosystem. The guide shared a lot of interesting facts that made the experience engaging & easy to follow. She threw in mad jokes as well. I needed those laughs. We explored multiple caves, not just Cueva Ventana,& each one had its own feel & character, which made the tour even more interesting. Once inside, the views were absolutely stunning. Seeing the ocean framed through the opening of Cueva Ventana was def a highlight, but the other caves added to the sense of adventure & made the whole experience feel like a real exploration. I left feeling like I had gotten a real mix of nature, history, and adventure all in 1 visit. It was worth taking the time & all the walking to see all of it. As a bonus,the tour guide gave me a ripe mamey sapote fruit which I enjoyed @ my Airbnb(b/c I needed to clean & cut it). It tasted somewhat like a mango but less sweet/juicy & more dense. I loved getting a taste of the local culture!

There used to be trolleys where they drive you up but they no longer have them so you need to walk the whole way there. Heading to the caves, you are walking down so it's pretty easy. Going back you're heading up which is quite a workout! But there are places with seats along the way if you need a break to catch your breath. Our tour guide "Amy" was really knowledgeable and kind. The whole trip took about an hour and half so we weren't rushed and had plenty of time to take pictures. It is recommended to wear sneakers because in the caves, it's wet so the floors get really slippery.

Okay, this was an incredible, fun experience…read more You start off on a Jurassic Park esque ride through the surrounding rain forest (no dinosaurs and 75% less Jeff Goldblum). And then its into the cave itself. The cave is just amazing, and WAY bigger than I would have imagined. There are nine stations where you can listen to an auditour, but also do listen to your guide. Ours was awesome and kept finding vinegaroons. We didn't see any bats, but the hurricane a few years ago mostly wiped them out, and I guess they haven't rebounded yet. :( Still, there were.. signs of many bats. Pro Tip, they warn you that you may get wet. You probably won't, but still be prepared. I nearly took this to mean "wear beach shoes." Don't. Wear good shoes, and make sure they're slip resistant.

Absolutely beautiful and so much fun…read more Just some things to share Parking is $10.00 (but worth it), They are two huge waterfall areas (see both), jump from the cliff (if you can), swing from the rope, eat at Sha's, and enjoy yourself. Oh and if you have snorkeling gear take it. Take it everywhere you go. The drive it to waterfalls is a bit scary. So make sure to drive slow and cautious.
