I've lived so many years in Puerto Rico and, I guess the daily routine stopped me from visiting this historical place sooner. Now, as a "tourist" I visited this house museum that narrates an important part of the Puerto Rican history, the city of Jayuya, and the life of an important Puerto Rican figure, Nemesio R. Canales.
This house museum is not the original structure, however it intends to represent the original one. This house contains original and vintage items of furniture, papers, books, and other utensils from the original owners and house. It is well kept and persevered. The staff in charge of the museum was very welcoming and polite. They gave information about the house and narrated some historical events occurred in the house and around it. It was a great experience, plus the museum is surrounded by vegetation and a beutiful view of mountains. I am glad that I'm still able to enjoy Puerto Rico's beautiful places and history.
If you life in Puerto Rico and has never visites Jayuya, you love history, or you are simply visiting this city... this museum is recommended! read more
