It was late on a Saturday night and our plans were squashed, we had 4 kids aged 9-13 and nothing to do. We decided to call on a whim, and Joe was incredibly accommodating! We all had an amazing time! Even though we needed a lot of clues he was very patient and helpful. We all had a blast and would highly recommend this escape room to anyone of any age! read more

I went for the first time ever to a escape room, and was a great experience. I went with 3 other friends each one of us had a great time. The host was amazing and kept us untreated from the start. Will go again when there is a room change. read more

Our group of 9 was mostly made up of first timers. It included among other types, a self professed puzzle-hater and a 13 month old. We appreciated that we were able to bring my niece, as my brother and sister-in-law wouldn't have been able to come otherwise. The puzzles were difficult but made sense, and we were offered hints at points when we seemed to be floundering. There were a few technical difficulties but they were quickly fixed and we were given extra time to make up for the mishaps. In the end we didnt finish within the hour, but the owner was kind enough to let us finish anyway. In the end we still felt accomplished, and everyone including the puzzle hater enjoyed the experience! We will definitely come back when theres a new puzzle! read more

The owner is Very enthusiastic about his work. He is entertaining. The puzzles where challenging and fun. They all varies on methods of puzzles. He has high aspirations and inspiring goals for the company including helping new film makers. This is a must go place, the best part is... if you don't succeed he let you try and try again, you get to finish the room. Can't wait for the newest rooms! read more

Definitely a complicated and exciting puzzle! It was difficult but challenging. I loved the theme and the game host loves his job, he helped out and gave us some much needed clues. If you are a escape room enthusiast this room is perfect for you!! I can't wait to see what other rooms they do! It was just me and my boyfriend so we had a hard time I'd say 4-8 people is a better bet to escape! Thanks for the great time! We will be back!!! read more

Another 5 star review here. I've only done one other escape room but this was a better experience by a mile. The host and owner, Joe did a great job at keeping us involved with his presentation and backstory to the escape room. We all really liked the brain teasers before while he was explaining everything to us. The room itself was fun. He made sure to keep us moving by giving some very subtle clues. Can't wait for the next edition of their escape room. Thumbs up to Joe for being a great host and a well designed escape room! read more

Just went with my sister and boyfriend and had the most amazing time ever, the owner joe was so enthusiastic and amazing! He made the game so much fun and helped us a lot. He also said that they change the room I think he said every year so I will definitely be coming back! read more

We had a really fun night here. There were 6 in our group. This escape room is definitely challenging. It was fun to work together to try to put the clues together. Its harder than i thought. There were 16 puzzles to find and unravel. Needless to say we phoned a friend more than once. Lol Also, the owner was AWESOME! He really helped make the experience what it was. I love anytime I know my $$ is going to a good person working hard to make it, rather than some corporate conglomerate. That was a definite bonus. Ask him about his artistic talents. He is a great story teller. read more

If you're looking for a great escape room you have to check out jar studios although it's a little bit hard to fine it's on the right side of the building that's connected to diamond billiards. My first time going here I called to see if they had any availability and it just so happens that they had just shut down for the night but joe being the awesome guy that he is opened it back up specifically so my group could come and enjoy the room not only is that excellent customer service but the room itself is fantastic it's hard enough to make you want to keep coming back and try and yet everything that's in that room can be done by an eight-year-old. Every year we have our grandchildren stay with us for a week. Sometimes we go out of town. Other times we have a stay vacation. I was looking for something for a 13 and 11 year old to do in the Sacramento area. I happened across JAR Studios. This turned out to be a great choice. Joe the owner was helpful and entertaining. We had a blast! We can't wait until the next theme room is ready. read more

Stopped here in the middle of a long drive & it was worth it. Such a unique & challenging escape room. The best part was the owner Joe, from the minute you walk in there you feel like you're in another world and he is clearly so passionate about his job. Just do it! read more

My cousin, friend and I went out for a birthday party and for our first time ever doing an escape room; we'd all say it was an eventful and fun experience. The male owner is really funny, provides helpful tips, and even will let you finish the the room when time runs out. The drive was a good 30 minutes, but I would recommend checking out the place. In addition, the guy was really nice and inviting with also placing a background story on how you got to where you are. Special thanks the guy's wife for helping setup the room while the husband gives a rundown. read more

Been to a couple escape rooms but this one has something special! Room is great and the owner is even better! Can't wait to go back

We had a group of 7 join for a little New Year's Eve Fun, and Joe delivered an amazing product! The room was thoughtfully designed, creative, and challenging! When we were clearly stuck, Joe was helpful in offering assistance if we wanted (WE DID!!!!) You can tell the passion he has for his craft, and we look forward to attempting his room once more as he has changed his design from the Christmas theme back to his original theme. read more

Second time doing and escape room and it was so much fun. The owner is very passionate about his work and his good energy really adds to the experience. The room itself was really was fun to figure out. I Highly recommend this place!! read more

My group and I have done about a dozen escape rooms and this one has definitely been on our top 3 in terms of difficulty and enjoyability! We did a Groupon for a group of 8, but the owner was more than happy to allow us to add a last minute 9th member for an additional price. The unique thing about this room compared to the other rooms we've been through is the psychological play on our minds when it comes to solving the puzzles. The puzzles themselves were not convoluted or difficult to solve; they all made logical sense. The owner was very passionate about escape rooms, and it was impressive to learn that it was only he and his wife who created all of the puzzles! Will definitely come back when they change their puzzles and add more rooms! read more

WOW. This place is great. It is truly an original escape room. To top it off he customized the room to meet the needs of our team. At least that is what it felt like. . . The level of difficulty is up to you. They offer to help guide you and know exactly how to give clues so that you feel accomplished doing the task even if you had a clue. The owner and his family designed this place themselves so the originality is all over the place. Puzzles made sense and really made you think. The owner is so nice and helpful. You can tell they care about the business and the success of it from excellent customer service to excellent escape too. I give this place a five stars around. I want to share my appreciation for the excellent job they did at creating this place and I can't wait to see what additions come. I know they will be amazing too. read more

So fun! Brought my group of kids for a birthday party. They had so much fun. Joe is awesome.

We decided to do an escape and we couldn't have chosen a better place to go. When we first arrived we noticed the lobby was very clean and very well decorated to the theme of the escape. Joe was very polite and attentive to our needs. He explained all aspects of the escape and what is expected from us, "TO HAVE FUN" which is what we had. The clues and puzzles are very well hidden and not disappointing, this being our first Escape room it has left us wanting more. There were 8 of us and there was plenty to do for all, if you wanted a hint, Joe is there to give it. If you're looking for a an hour of fun and games you won't be disappointed visiting Jar Studios Escape Room Thank you for a good time Joe!! read more

Four of us went here for my husband's birthday and we had such a good time! The concept of the room was really cool and it was a great challenge. It's definitely suitable for families too (nothing creepy/scary) so children would enjoy it. The owner is really nice and does a good job setting the tone of the theme/era you're supposed to be in before you go in the room. Highly recommend! read more

This place is incredible. Jon was so friendly and helpful even when we had to ask multiple times or help with the clues haha. The room was challenging but was a total blast once the group got a hang of the puzzles. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone wanting to have a great time. Best part it is kid and family friendly! read more

Friendly and enthusiastic owner, challenging puzzles, and accessible to groups of multiple ages! I'll definitely be back!

This escape room is so much fun!! We had a hard time figuring things out but the owner was so helpful in giving us clues, which made it so much fun. Really nice puzzle designs and a friendly owner couple (with a cute dog). They put their heart into the design and decor. We only had 2 of the 6 person recommended team size and they stayed late to help us finish in 1:20. Looking forward to their Christmas rooms! read more

This studio is awesome! Joe is amazing, he has a passion for what he does. It's a hard puzzle to solve, but he offers clues and you can choose to take the clues or not. It's kid friendly, not scary in the least. I'm excited for him to change the room because we will definitely be coming back. Those big escape room places might look fun but if you're looking for an awesome experience, pick this place. You won't regret it! read more

Owner was very personable and interactive. The room was challenging. Great place to go!

This guy likes what he does.hes nice but very stubborn.he will not listen to feed back. His room has lots of issues that could be fixed if he would listen to customers.ive done worse rooms. This one is a 4 out of 10 over all.maybe a 5 read more

We got engaged!!!! That's right in an escape room and it's all thanks to JAR studios. We are huge escape room fanatics and JAR studios is by far the best one we have ever been to. There is so much talent and artistry. It's a truly unique and puzzling experience! The owners went above and beyond to help my fiancé plan the most magical and unexpected engagement! I can't thank JAR studious enough for everything they did! read more

This place was great. The room was super difficult, but our 10 year olds were able to accomplish all of the puzzles with (sometimes quite a bit of) help from the wonderful host. When we were stuck and needed a clue, he had a way of giving us juuuust enough to make it click. He was very helpful in coaching the kids to figure out the answer, but never actually giving them the answer. We moms were not helpful, but enjoyed watching the kids feel accomplished. This is great for younger guests who can get lots of help, and would be very difficult for adult guests. We had a Groupon, which was great since it was the kids first time and escape rooms are expensive! But even such, I Highly recommend! read more

While camping in Placerville we were looking for a place to escape the heat and we were lucky to find JAR Studios. This is a locally owned small business and the owner is amazing. He is very passionate about his craft and it shows-He puts a lot of thought and effort into the room, it is unique and has a wide variety of challenges. read more

Although very challenging, we love this escape room. As soon as you open the door to the building you are submerged in the theme of the room. The owners are also amazing and you can tell their hearts are completely in it! We can't wait for them to design another room so we can visit again! read more

Our group has done about 20 Escape rooms of multiple levels and sizes. We have done rooms with massive amounts of technology and others that were similar to this one where the tech was limited but other creative measures were used. I have to say that we enjoyed this room more than a few others that had a lot of tech! The use of space and creativity of puzzles sealed it for me. There are some issues such as puzzles pieces being worn from use or faded marks but the enjoyment from the whole setup more than makes up for it. The owner and his wife did a great job and the fact that you walk in and are immersed in the story right away is a plus. They have great ideas for the future and we will be back for the remake of the room as well as future rooms! read more

My friends and I had a blast! It was our first time doing an escape room and it did not disappoint. The puzzles were challenging and impressive and even though we did not escape, we were given extra time to finish all of the puzzles/clues. The owner is a super cool guy and it was fun listening and getting to know how their escape room came about. You can really tell how passionate he is about games and having fun. I can't wait for the future projects! read more

We read some great reviews about JAR Studios so we were excited to check it out, as it was the only escape room in the Sacramento area that we haven't tried before. We are definitely not experts when it comes to escape rooms but we've done our fair share and feel pretty confident about most room we've done. We got there 5 minutes early, per the instructions Joe gave us on the phone. We got there and were met with an EXTREMELY enthusiastic and fast speaking host. You can tell he is passionate but the pre-room chatter was a bit much. We were ready to get into the room. There were some great puzzles in the room. A few that we should have gotten on our own. Our only real complaint was that Joe was constantly trying to give us hints, even when we didn't ask for them. He even came into the room unprompted quite a few times to tell us something or show us something. We would have appreciated being left to try to solve the puzzle on our own without assistance until we asked for it. It kind of brought the vibe of the room down for us. read more

Our escape room experience was a total blast. We had a large group, both children and adults, and were all able to participate in solving the clues. Our group had a mix of first timers and veterans. We all agreed we were entertained and definitely challenged. The owners are very personable and accommodating. I was pleasantly surprised to find they are ADA compliant. Highly recommended this place. A win all around. read more
