We went for lunch on Sunday and it was pretty good actually. The staff were nice & friendly and our food did not take long to arrive but then again, it was not that busy anyway although almost everyone were on the other side sampling from the Sushi train.
We had the Banzai burger - a juicy char-grilled beef burger, basted with Teriyaki glaze, sesame seeds, lettuce, red onion, pickles and Japanese mustard and ketchup. Japas Shichimi Fries with wasabi mayo and an asian slaw were on the side and it set us back $15 each.
I love a good burger and the Banzai could have been a bit bigger but it was quite nice nevertheless. We also started with an entree of Gyoza - Japanese seafood dumplings steamed then panfried. They were ok.
You'll find a mix of beers, ciders and cocktails on the drinks menu and expect to fork out at least $14 for a meal.
Let's face it - Japas is not the best japanese restaurant in Melbourne but you know what? It's quite alright - great location and cool place to catch up over dinner. read more
