Prices are standard for the industry, but pricing is honest and service is high quality.

After 3 visits to Japan Auto Service to get a noise/vibration issue resolved, they had me replace a number of different parts which they were always "95% sure would solve the problem"... Guess what, I paid $1200 and the problem is still there. Basically wasted over $1000. Not nice. Those parts did not need to be replaced other than the suspicion they were causing the noise. Also, good luck getting a hold of Frank. I had to call numerous times, leaving numerous messages and send numerous emails (over many days and weeks), before finally getting a call back from Frank for an appt. Definitely not customer-oriented. Must already have too many clients. Time to find a new mechanic. read more

After a recent move, one of the biggest issues was been finding replacements for all the professionals with whom you build a relationship over the years. And with an old Forester,a good mechanic is top of the list. Car repairs are never cheap or enjoyable. The only thing that makes them bearable is an honest and trustworthy mechanic. I'm not always the easiest customer, but Japan Auto always did solid work on my cars for reasonable prices, with any extra repairs justified and cleared in advance, plus a walkthrough of what was done. I've been taking my cars to Japan Auto for years on my father's advice who has also been taking his car there for years. Frank is always honest about what needs to be done and what can wait. He explains everything in detail and will even show the old parts to demonstrate what was wrong.
