I ended up not going ahead with the maintenance work as he suggested it wouldn't be necessary right now. He lost two hours of labour costs but continues to build trust and respect with great service and honest advice. I have been a client of Roy Rump & Sons for about 4 years now and each time I've needed them, I was made to feel welcome by both the front-desk folks and the mechanical technicians. They explain all repairs clearly and with patience. They always provide as accurate an estimate as possible and, if they diagnose an issue and discover it was a simpler fix than they thought at the time, they gladly tell me that it will not cost as much to fix and that kind of honesty is why I will never go anywhere else. They always send me reports with digital photos and videos of the work along with their recommendations to keep my SUV in good working condition. There in only one little drawback... because they are so popular for all the things I mentioned, they are very busy a lot of the time and it can affect how soon they can book an appointment with you but, it is always worth the wait. Car repairs are not cheap, in general. I think I was charged fairly and got great service. I'm also gonna note here, this business was recommended on my neighbourhood FB page. I notice 2 horrible reviews her on yelp. On google they have a near perfect score. In my opinion, the two reviews don't hold water. While I still talking to the owner trying to ask questions about the inspection, I noticed his coworker is trying to lift my vehicle, I repeatedly asked him to stop lifting before I finished asking questions. He continued lifted the vehicle on the hoist. Then the owner says the brakes are not passing safety before he even checked the actual brake themselves. I asked what is the thickness of the brake is remaining made it failed. He did not answer. I asked again, he did not answer. I insisted multiple times, then he said it is not the brake. it is the rotors has rust on the side. Then he offered me a package to replaced all the brake pads and rotors. And told me it is only one hour left for getting the parts. I asked what is the quality and warranty of the parts he offered. He said it is good quality, initially stated it is lifetime warranty, I asked him to clarify what condition of the warranty, he then changed and said only 2 years of warranty. I asked if I can bring the parts for him to install, he said no. I ask if I can come back again with a new set of brake and rotor is installed to completed the inspection. He tried to dodge the question. At this time, he kept pushing me to order a new brake and rotor from him. I refused. He then said I need to pay him the full inspection cost before release the vehicle. All these happen within 5 minutes of the vehicle got inside the shop. Basically, he is taking my vehicle as a hostage at that moment with the vehicle hoisted. I asked he for a full inspection report. He said he will but provided nothing. I kept asking for a full report for his work, at the end, he wrote a six-words as an inspection, see the pictures. The whole time I was there were being pushed to install a new brake and rotor on the spot without knowing any details of the condition of the brake and rotor. Again, if there's a 0 star, I will give this a shop a 0 star.

I got to talk Theo myself, and the guy is super knowledgeable, kind, and speaks very very good French and English. There's no problem at all, and I'd say both his clarity and kindness makes him a better communicator than most. I highly recommend anyone to check it this place if you need any work done of your vehicle. Theo even goes farther in detail to show you what work will be done on the vehicle, and to find you cheaper alternatives. And is just an easy phone call away.

I asked him verify my AC to see if it was an issue with the compressor that needs replacing or if it could be fixed. Instead of just verifying he said he "fixed it" and asked me for 50$. I stupidly gave him the money before checking the work. I told him that the air wasn't cold at all, it was warm as opposed to hot. He said it would cost me 200$ to fix it because he has to refill the whole thing. I told him I had no problem paying the 200$ if it'll be fixed as I wanted from the start.. I said I didn't pay 50$ for warm air instead of hot air so please include this as part of the "real total" to get it fixed. He refused, argues and said I'll have to pay 200$ separately. Will never come back here again and do not recommend this place to anyone who would like honest work, where they can trust someone with their car and money. Learn to at least speak English OR French... and don't steal people's money by doing something that they never asked for and still not fixing the issue. This is unacceptable.

My experience was unfortunately negative due to a lack of experience dealing with my cars throttle body problems. I sank $500 into them first cleaning the component, and when that didn't work replacing my throttle body with a used component only to find out the issue was still happening. They then recommended i get the software updated with the used part, which i did at a nearby dodge dealer. Nothing changed, exact same issue happening. I asked them what they could do to help mitigate some of my lost money, they suggested I continue throwing money at the problem and let them continue to try different things to fix it. It was obvious they didn't know how to fix it, but were okay with me spending yet more money to try to solve the problem. I understand they are a business and that this is their job to do this, but it is very frustrating when I throw $500 at the problem and nothing is fixed because they themselves dont know how. Again, seemed like a great bunch of people who care about their work, so I recommend them with day to day problems. No electronic programming issues unless you enjoy spending money for them to experiment. Avoid throttle body issues with these guys.
