I was also told the consultation would be 15 minutes, despite previously understanding it to be 30 minutes. When I expressed that I was only interested in meeting with the attorney I originally booked the consultation with, I was then told that doing so would require paying an additional $100, raising the consultation fee from $100 to $200. At that point, due to the lack of transparency around who I was meeting with, the consultation length, and the fee structure, I felt uncomfortable proceeding and requested a refund, which was granted. This review is not about the attorneys' legal ability, but about the intake and consultation process. Switching attorneys without advance disclosure and changing terms after arrival is not a professional experience, particularly for clients dealing with sensitive family law matters. One particularly frustrating incident occurred in March 2026 when I took time off work and traveled to the courthouse in Jamaica, Queens, only to learn that my scheduled appearance was not proceeding as expected due to what Angel described as a court scheduling error. My greatest disappointment came in July 2026 when my custody modification petition was dismissed without proceeding to trial. I had spent months gathering documentation concerning my daughter's well-being, which I had hoped to present. The opposing attorney had filed a motion to dismiss, and I had specifically questioned Angel about whether we needed to respond. After receiving the court's decision, I was concerned to see that the absence of opposition to the motion was discussed. When I questioned this, Angel maintained that the evidence was insufficient. During our final conversation in July, Angel said he would look into the cost of an appeal. As of October 8, I have received no follow-up. I understand that attorneys cannot guarantee outcomes. My dissatisfaction is not simply that I lost my case, but how the case was handled, the lack of communication, and the financial and emotional toll of the experience.
