There are two pools. One is used by adults for lap swimming, as well as swim practice for the older kids. Itʻs in the shape of an L. In the summer, the pool is 50 m, that runs from shallow to deep. There are also a few lanes in the deep end (13 ft) that are 25 yards. In the winter, they reconfigure the lanes so that they are 25 yards (shallow water) and 33 yards (from 7ʻ to 13ʻ). Overall the pool ranges in depth from 4ʻ to 7ʻ and 13.ʻ It is open year round for lap swimming. The other pool is a shallower pool, used primarily for family swim, and swimming for kids in the summer. They also use it for lessons and swim practice for the kids. They have designated hours for public lap swim in the big pool from 12 - 3 PM, M-Sa, and also include Sundays in the summer. Be sure to look for the FAST swim program website in order to reserve and pay for a lane for lap swim. In the summer, the community summer day camp programs come and use the pool, usually from around 11 - 2. There are lifeguards. If you are doing lap swim, itʻs recommended taht you know how to swim. Lap swim tends to be very busy, and most of the people swam in high school or college, many of them during 12 - 3 are older. Basic swim equipment: fins, paddles, kickboards, goggles, are allowed to use as part of your lap swim routine. Swimwear attire. Overall, itʻs a very nice facility. It could use some facility upgrades, like shaded areas where people can towel off in the hot summer months, and where others can wait. It could use more regular cleaning of the locker rooms especially in the summer, when there should be restroom/locker room attendants. It could use more signage, and graphics, and the check in for everyone using the pool should be located near the entrance -in its own building, or a ticket booth. Itʻs a great place. read more

Now that they have opened the children's pool, this has been such an amazing place to swim in the summertime. They are usually open from 12 PM to 2 PM. We won't go almost every day. I am a daycare provider and this was a daily outing for all of my children. The cost was two dollars each read more

My son had been training with FAST (Fullerton Aquatics Sports Team) at this location since July. He seems to love it more than where we were before. This pool is nice and clean. The sitting area for the parents is scarced, as such, I have to lug my own lounge chairs and find a spot on the grass. The women locker room is quite filthy. I seriously avoid it if possible. Parking is plenty. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping centers near by when I want to escape the heat for a couple hours. I would recommend this place if you want to learn how to swim. All of their instructors are certified through SwimAmerica, the official lessons programs of USA swimming. 3.5 stars - lack of sitting area and dirty locker room. read more

I can't believe no one has reviewed this pool yet. This is a older pool located in Independence Park. It is an outdoor pool. The main part of the pool is 50 Meter pool by 25 yard pool. The far end of the pool is 33 1/3 yards. Think of an "L" in block letters. During the short course season the lane lines are set up for both 25 yards and 33 yards. During the long course season which starts at the end of January, the lane lines are set up for 50 meters and 25 yards. The pool ranges from 4 feet deep to about 13 feet deep. It is great for lap swimming especially during the short course season. During the short course season, it seems like they have a 1000 lanes! No lane sharing. I haven't been there during long course season, but, it seems like lane sharing is inevitable since there would be less lanes available. As long as people practice good pool etiquette, it shoudn't be a problem. Hours: The hours suck. Monday thru Friday: 12 noon to 2PM, Saturdays: 12 noon to 3:30 PM. Unless I am in the area, I won't be making a special trip here. Cost: $3! They also have a 3, 6, and a 12 month pass. $3 is a very cheap price for lap swimming at a pool like this. Luckily the price is not inviting enough for the local riff raff. Temperature: The water was perfect for lap swimming. Training aids: They have kickboards and some pull buoys. There were some fins, but, do they ever clean those things? Parking: Plenty of free parking. Locker room/Shower: They men's locker room was ugly, old, and in disrepair. Some of the showers did not work. Bring your own locks for the lockers. Overall, I like this pool. Swimming in 33 yard section is nice because you can focus on your stroke and do less flip turns. It is ackward to finish a 100 yards and end up on the other end of the pool. No pace clock here. The lifeguards were nice. One fo them tried to be nice to me by politely telling me that my flip turn was bad and gave me pointers on how to turn better. Nice pool to swim at. this seems like a really good pool but they have a dress code here. Don't wear anything cotton, no t-shirts unless you're gonna take the shirt off. Good: Big pool, long hours, and $3 to get in. There is a nice grassy area to lay out to sunbathe. Not Good: In the summer time, errant children (even some adults) splashing around in LAP SWIM lanes while lifeguards watch on without taking any action. This is especially prevalent in the left 2 lap lanes adjacent to the open/non-lap area. I hate to sound like a snobby lap swimmer, but the lanes are there for a reason. The pool needs to put a sign that certain section is lap swim only and lifeguards need to speak up when people are goofing off in lap lanes. I have no business disciplining other people's kids. Telling other people's kids how to behave is an invitation to ugly confrontation nowadays, when good manners and courtesy seem scarce. -- Update -- Now that summer hours or over, there are less kids going to the pool so lap swimming is good again. -- Needs Improvement-- The locker room needs a scrub down. The tiles are dirty looking as though no one ever cleaned the floor. The showers have good water pressure and water is heated, but there are no hooks to hang your towels or place your personal items. read more

There are only so many pools in Fullerton that provide the proper space for athletic events and recreational activities. On November 13, 2014, I worked my shift, teaching swim lessons. The Janet Evans Swim Complex is not run by the city. It's well kept and clean and is a hidden gem. It has two pools; a small twenty-five meter pool with eight lanes that goes three to five feet deep and a fifty meter pool with sixteen lanes that can be re-adjusted to suit short course meets. (Twenty five meter length lanes) The large pool goes from four feet to thirteen feet and features two diving boards. The large pool is an "L" design, allowing for a thirty-three meter section in the bottom of the "L" shape. The pools are complimented by a full eight-lane scoreboard. Their is plenty of field space for multiple pop up tents and plenty of storage room for pool equipment. The entrance consists of a staff room with two staff bathrooms/showers and two team bathrooms/showers. The chlorine level is fare. I would recommend wearing goggles if a long swim is desired. FAST, the swim club that runs the pool, offers swim lessons for all ages and also a competitive swim team. As well as youth swim teams, FAST offers a master program for ages nineteen and above for anyone who wants to get a good workout and learn ways to improve their technique. As well as swimming, FAST now offers water polo introductions. The FAST community is coached by some of the most experienced coaches with collegiate and olympic experience. Janet evens is located in Fullerton, California in Independents Park off of Commonwealth. This pool has been around since 1964 and has produced olympians like Janet Evens. As an employee, I love the community there and enjoy sharing my love and knowledge to the youth. Best place to take Swim lessons. Period! Take it from someone who has had their share of water trauma, when I was a teenager, in numerous California swimming pools by other teens. I've been bringing my daughter for the past 7 years every summer for the 2 week sessions. Once my son was born I did mommy and me classes with him starting at 1 year old, he's now going to be 5 and has been coming every summer as well. I've always had great coaches and super patient with my kids. Kids tend to cry the first week when they are small but they make them feel super comfortable and not too pushy the first few days. Pool - fairly clean though you see some deposits at the deep end of pool. Accessories - pull buoy, kick boards available. People - fairly diverse and quite ok. Did not encounter stuck up swimmers. But if you are coming with an ez up tent, you have to get there early for a swim meet and try to set up somewhere that isn't on the slope that runs along the pool -- otherwise you are likely to be following your chairs and bags that will be rolling down the hill all day. read more

This review is for the location at the Fullerton Community Center. My daughter has been coming here for 3 sessions now and we absolutely love it. The staff here is great and the instruction is even better. Every instructor my daughter has had has made her feel welcome, comfortable, and most of all safe in the water. She is becoming such a great swimmer and her confidence in the water has grown. She plans on making swimming her sport. We will be with FAST for the long run. Wanted to get the kids out of the house for a few hours since they're still in lazy summer mode. I knew it would be warm today and all that sand from the beach didn't sound appealing last night so I started searching for a local plunge before bed time. I came across Janet Evans on Yelp and so glad I did! It's a really nice pool. Super clean, big and surprisingly quiet for a Saturday afternoon. Although we did arrive early...The diving boards were being redone so we didn't get to use them but they looked like they would've been fun. Today only the large pool was open. So we swam there and it looks like it's mainly used for lap swimming. There's one large lane for people who would rather frolic and pretend to be mermaids...Not sure if the smaller pool is more for that type of play since it was closed. But again, everywhere was super clean and only $3 per person! They have a large locker room so if you want to use those you're welcome to bring your own lock. It's open year round and the hours change so I would call ahead to confirm them since the hours were different from what they have on their Yelp. At least today it was...I give it a solid 5 stars and a big fat thumbs up...because I'm a mermaid who doesn't always enjoy sand in her shorts ;) read more
