After nine shoulder surgeries, I can say with confidence that Dr. Colasanti stands out for both his…read moreclinical expertise and his level of care. From the first visit, he approached my case with a high level of thoroughness and attention. He personally reviewed my MRIs and X rays in detail with me, pointed out specific areas of joint damage, explained why my symptoms aligned with the imaging findings, and walked me through the reasoning behind each treatment option. He welcomed questions, never minimized my pain, and communicated in a way that was both medically precise and easy to understand. I left feeling informed, respected, and like an active part of the decision making process. I am in my late twenties, which made my case more complex. For seven years, surgeons across the country were hesitant to perform a shoulder replacement because of my age. During that time, my shoulder became severely arthritic, and my functional ability was extremely limited, significantly affecting my daily life and independence. Dr. Colasanti carefully weighed the long term risks and benefits of replacement in a younger patient and made his decision based on the true severity of my joint damage and loss of function, not just my age. He also consulted with Dr. Simovitch prior to surgery, and together they agreed replacement was appropriate given how advanced my condition was. That level of thoughtfulness and collaboration meant a great deal to me. In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr. Colasanti's approach to patient care is exceptional. He personally called me the day before surgery to ensure my questions were answered. Throughout the process, he was attentive, respectful, and genuinely engaged in what I was experiencing. It is clear he considers the person behind the condition, not just the diagnosis. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Colasanti and also to Dr. Simovitch, whose two prior surgeries helped restore function and made it possible for me to ultimately move forward with shoulder replacement. I highly recommend HSS and these surgeons for orthopedic care. Because of them, I have been given a second chance at quality of life.

I was turned down by many more experienced surgeons because of its difficulties. I chose Dr Cleveland because one of his teachers was Dr Pastorek, who was my surgeon in NYC when I had my original Rhinoplasty in 1995. Dr Pastorek at that time, legitimately, was world renowned. I was thrilled with my surgery for years. Unfortunately, with time the cartilage began to shift. I learned this was not unusual no matter how good the surgeon. I visited with Dr Cleveland and he assured me he would be able to do the surgery as difficult as it was. I trusted him as he was a student of Dr Pastorek. I thought he would have the talent. I should have called Dr Pastorek's office first. I would not have chosen Dr Cleveland. I knew there was a problem with the surgery almost immediately after the surgery and I started to panic. This is when the once wonderful bedside manner of the doctor changed. "It wasn't the rhinoplasty that was the problem it was my expectation. It was my emotional state" Wow! He became nasty and condescending when answering my questions. He felt he deserved credit for answering my phone calls during inopportune times for him and his family. Month 8 was my last return visit. At this time the doctor admitted he would need to do a small revision. However, he responded to a very dissatisfied letter I sent to him that it was my unhappiness only with my nose. He felt my nose came out well enough to post my photos. I said he had my blessings. He never posted my photos online or in his book as he said he would. I posted my photos. Not only can this doctor disfigure you but he will also blame you for what he does to you. It is necessary I have a second revision. The grafts have broken through and the bone has calcified. Simple surgeries he can do, no doubt. They all can but you cannot trust what he says he can do. He will experiment on you. My procedure was way above his skill level. He should have sent me away as the much more experienced surgeons did. He took advantage of my expectations of who he was. Do not let a doctor pick up a scalpel to your body based on some excellent reviews on injections or a warm and fuzzy consultation!

I came in with thumb fractures and dislocations in three places…read more Dr. G was not only immediately in my issue but he gave me a nerve block before x-rays and resetting my little bones. I had been to urgent care one hour prior and they left my wound open ! Dr. Gerszberg was not happy about that. He is truly a man touched by God. His expertise makes me only recommending him. That's why he's an MVP !

He was not…read morerushed and took time to listen to the ongoing ankle issues I was having and took time to explain what he would do to fix it. He even assisted us with some of the paperwork. He told us his assistant Donna would get us insurance verifications and costs for the surgery and facility etc we were scheduling. He was booking me to have surgery at his PB surgical suites . Surgery scheduled for about 3 and a half weeks later. As time went by and Donna wasn't reaching out to us with costs and insurance verification we started reaching out to her. Often our emails went ignored. Finally she gave us some cpt codes and we called PB surgical suites ourselves , they confirmed they didn't take my secondary insurance nor did the contracted anesthesiologists. The girl on the phone recommended I go elsewhere as this was going to be costly. We let Donna know and since it's a week before surgery at this point we are rather anxious and Donna doesn't respond to emails quickly if at all so now I am texting the main office and they are relaying messages. Donna books us at Good Samaritan, we don't wait for her to do anything, we confirm the insurance ourselves. As soon as that's done she emails me that the doctor wants to do it at palms west. Immediately my husband gets on the phone with palms west , he's now been on the phone for days. He Confirms palms west and their anesthesiologist takes our insurance. Little did we know that Dr. Gerszberg was angry at us for trying to get information he had assured us they would . He came into the dirty room I was sitting in awaiting surgery , complained at us for a few minutes and cancelled the surgery and said he was not my doctor anymore. Dr. Gerszberg may (or not , I don't know) be an excellent surgeon but he is not an excellent doctor or human being. Doctors should advocate for their patients and he certainly did not do that with his office staff or that horrid hospital staff . Here I sit a few days later with a foot/ankle that needs surgery with no doctor. I left a review for palms west hospital as well, they certainly fueled the fire.

Very unprofessional service, really shocking. I was scheduled for my first appointment with Dr…read more Borland. I woke up the day of the appt very sick and slept in, missing the appt. Definitely my mistake, admittedly, and I did not call ahead of time. I am not normally a person that misses doctor appointments, and I felt guilty for not rescheduling ahead of time... but again I felt so sick that I completely forgot my responsibilities that morning. So the next week, I called and apologized first thing before asking to reschedule. The person on the other end of the phone abruptly put me on hold without discernably responding to me. 5 or so minutes later someone else picked up the phone and seemed annoyed or confused. She muttered a few times as if the phone was too far from her mouth. I was having trouble understanding as she seemed as if she was talking under her breath. So i asked her, politely, if she could repeat herself because I couldn't hear what she said. Then i was put on hold again for about 7 minutes. The same person then picked up again and informed me that she has to follow the instructions on my account and she is unable to schedule my appointment. I found this a bit confusing, because she wasn't explaining why I couldn't get an appointment scheduled, just that she has instructions not to do it. Finally I asked her, "are you saying that I cannot get an appointment scheduled because I missed my last appointment?", and she replied "yes". Awestruck, I asked if she could make an exception because I really did have a bad day that day, I was very sick suddenly (all true) and it is not normal for me to just miss appointments. Silence. She said nothing. I tried one more time because I felt like there was some kind of misunderstanding or that maybe she just wanted to assess what kind of person she was dealing with or something. She again said that she had to follow the instructions in the account and could not set up an appointment for me. It was a bit surreal. I didn't know what to say for a second but settled on something like, "so you are denying me access to Dr Borland because I missed a single appointment which I have apologized for ?". "Yes." Wow. I paused, again because this conversation was so weird that I was wondering if I accidentally said something offensive or came across like a jerk. Finally I just told her (nicely) that she can expect some negative reviews on social media, to which she responded to only with "OK". I get it that some people can be difficult, adversarial or unpleasant to deal with on the phone. I am not one of those people. I've been on the other end of the phone in a service postion many times so I have too much empathy to treat people badly in these kinds of interactions. In general, I try to be kind to others whether it is walking down the street, at work, having dinner, doing anything... I am a respectful person so there is no chance that I said anything offensive to trigger this sort of response from the staff. What I received was nothing short of contempt, and upon reflection it is a good thing that I won't be visiting this office. What kind of care can you expect from a doctor whose staff has unwarranted animosity toward its patients? I also told my GP about this so that maybe he is less likely to forward his patients to this practice. I was patient and apologetic and gave the staff opportunities to help turn this conversation around, i did not make it me against them, I tried for a graceful resolution. Oh well, guees I won't be meeting Dr, Borland :).
