The food was wonderful. Favourful. With lots of variety. We ordered the Bond Platter for 4 and we had lots to take home. If the food was delicious...our waitress Debbie made the evening even better. We had so much fun. She was very funny. Efficient. She made the evening. read more

We ordered in from Jane Bond BBQ this evening and unappetizing does not begin to describe the food. I ordered pulled pork on a bun with onion rings. The food was barely warm, the bun was floating in grease that took multiple paper towels to try and blot up, the meat was flavourless and the onion rings clumped together in one soggy congealed mass of grease. My husband's brisket varied from burnt black to pale blue and no amount of chewing improved the texture. It too had grease pouring off it. If I could five zero stars I would. Needless to say we will not be back or recommending this restaurant' to anyone. read more

For $80, I'm giving this a 4/5. It's good for sharing. All the meat was good, taste and texture wise. Everything else such as the fries, corn bread, and beans were just okay. Side note: I liked their sauces they had. I think it was honey mustard or something? And bbq something? Not sure, I forgot. But it was good. One of my favorite parts. Service was great. Ambiance was on brand. Would probably have it again but not something I'd have regularly. Maybe the next time I crave for it. read more

It's the simple things, sometimes. You give me good options (in this case, Saint Louis ribs and pulled pork poutine) for a reasonable (see below) price, with suitable waiting times and I'm in. If the food tastes good, I'm keen to return. The place is self-service (kinda) and the environment on the right side of rustic. Suitable for a barbecue. The menu is varied (from bbq staples to crawfish) and what I tried was cooked well and with generous portions. Not the most amazing bbq I had (no one should jump in their car and travel the Great Plains to get here) but certainly the nicest meats I tasted in Alberta so far. the prices are fine, especially if you take advantage of their vast list of specials (lunch discounts, group platters, Wednesday and Thursday specials, etc); while the surcharge-style of their menu can be a little off putting if you are a fellow glutton (how did my 16$ lunch swell to $36? Oh yeah, I added poutine- no make it pulled pork poutine - oh and I want ribs - ok add those extras up and there you go), the portions are VERY generous (to the point that I actually brought some with me... my cardiologist will be proud). Not sure I will be back to Calgary (the future is immaterial) but if I do Jane Bond might see me back! read more

If you want a venue that is something a little different, amazing food, great service and great fun and people.....you have to go to JANE BOND BBQ. We are a healthcare group that usually has our gatherings in very different venues. It is our 25th anniversary and we thought we would be adventurous. I would highly suggest it!! We had to change our date and were not the easiest bunch to get coordinated, entertained and fed. They did so with great ease. Huge thanks to Adrienne, and Debbie (our server, this lady was amazing). Big thank you also to Alison and to the Pegasus performers. What a fun night. Call them and book now, you will not be disappointed. ps...The coconut corn bread with the ribs mixed with the murder mystery...to die for!!!!!! read more

I have had the food truck as well as gone to the restaurant! Some of the delicious food items I have tried from this place are: - St. Louis Ribs - Chorizo Mac N Cheese topped with coconut cornbread crumble - Pork Slider with Slaw, BBQ Sauce and Chipolte Mayo - Coconut Cornbread infused with coconut milk and flakes - Tennessee Apple Mint Tea Obviously if you want more selection and more options you should go to the restaurant instead of to the food truck! Delicious food though! read more

Really fantastic brisket. Cornbread was awesome as well. Grew up on Texas BBQ and they've got it going on here really well.

I stayed across from this location for two months and only tried it a month into my stay. From the outside this spot looks like it'd be rundown and poorly maintained. But get yourself inside. Gorgeous decor and beautiful wooden countertops. Friendly, attentive staff and delicious delicious barbecue. I give this spot a VERY solid 9/10. Heres what I had: Drink - wild turkey and coke - basic, streamlined, balanced, well done. The hangry plate -Smoked poutine -brisket smoked gravy. Crisp fries. Melted smooth cheese. 10/10 for crunch, balanced seasonings, and unbelievably good smokiness. -brisket - It melts in your mouth, and is super beefy and peppery. I definitely did not get the fattiest portions and it could've used improved seasoning BUT... the issue is very slight and I would get this again ten times over. -smoked chicken - tender, juicy, smoky, AND not dry at all (I emphasize because I've noticed this is often a problem at barbecue places in Calgary) -pulled pork - falls apart. Well seasoned. Juicy. Retains its meat flavour at the same time. Highly recommend. -cornbread - fluffy, crumbly and nice. It stands to be more buttery and with stronger sweetness and corn flavour. Amp it up with some jalapeno or Serrano flavours and I'd 100% get this again. -baked mac and cheese - perfect. Cheesy, smoky, flavourful, savoury. Nummy. No complaints -coconut honey butter - Coconut, honey, and butter. And no flavours diluted at all. Very effective together. -bee sting honey mustard - it's hot honey mustard. No more no less , super good with everything on the plate. -bitter peach barbecue sauce. Mildly vinegary texture and flavour. Balanced sweetness and smokiness. -chipotle mayo - you know what this tastes like. Can't beat it. read more

Very friendly staff and great food. We ordered the ribs and the brisket with a side of onion rings and chili. I really really like their brisket. It was seasoned well and tasty. The ribs were ok, I have to admit that they did give us a bad cut of the ribs so we were a little disappointed. It was still flavoured well and good. They have a pretty large menu so you have many options to choose from. They also have a nice selection of sides that goes well with your meal. They also have a nice selection of pies if you want dessert. The mocha pie was yummy! Definitely a place that I would come back to if I crave BBQ. read more

Our dinner started out with really great service from two servers. Very accommodating with substitutions on the menu, and just really nice in general. We ordered one combo with brisket and chicken and our side were mac'n'cheese, caesar salad, and corn bread. From time of ordering it took 30 minutes for our food to arrive. The restaurant was very quiet, and for a BBQ place I expect most food to be already cooked when it's ordered. The brisket was good, just a little burnt tasting on the outside. The mac'n'cheese was delicious with a smokey flavour. The chicken was not cooked through, and how this was handled by management is why the review is so low. Our server took one look at the chicken and immediately apologized. I had just said to take it off the bill but she said it wouldn't take more than 10 mins. We waited the 10 mins and then just asked again for it to be removed from the bill. This is when a manager (owner, possibly), came over with what started to be an apology but turned into "But that chicken was definitely cooked". No, it wasn't. Pink juices running out the middle of it is not cooked through, but I wasn't going to argue. She proceeded to tell me they cook it for an hour at 325. Generally, I'm very understanding when shit happens. I honestly would not of let that undercooked chicken affect my review, but when the manager/owner comes out and makes a point of tell me it was fully cooked... well the picture is attached for you to be the judge. I get that smoked chicken can have a pink tinge to it, but it should not be bloody when you cut into the middle. Unfortunate experience, that was handled so well by the servers, but ruined by the management. I truly cannot recommend a restaurant where the management says this chicken is cooked through. See the photo yourself, and you be the judge. read more

I'd give one star if I could but the food wasn't that bad. Enjoyed this place the first year it opened up and was super hyped to have a BBQ place in the lot where there's been a local car meet for years mid week. Sadly that didn't last long as I guess new owners took over and quickly made it very apparent they didn't want our business. Complained about all the cars and people and parking. I guess I'm confused on why a food place wouldn't want to take an opportunity to make money on a busy night midweek. Especially with them being located in a very quiet after 5pm industrial area. An effort was made to work with them but they where not interested. I know personally, I will never go back to this place nor will I ever recommend them. There's better BBQ places in this city. You pissed of a huge community who was willing to work with you and who was there long before you moved in. read more

OMG! I lived in the states for a short bit and let me tell you this is the best soul food I ever had! And I did feel like I transported back to the US with the music and decor and the food. I wish I could have ate forever but the Boozy Baypu Swamp Bowl and coconut corn bread (owner has Caribbean ties) was the KO. So damn good. Worth every damn dime! read more

I've made 3 trips to Jane Bond for a reason; the food is good! :) I talked my co-worker into going to Jane Bond for a meal. He had the ribs and I had the brisket and I was not disappointed. We went again and the ribs were just as good as the first time, while I tried the BBQ Parfait, a heaping bowl of mashed potatoes, pulled pork, gravy and BBQ sauce. For a better description, you'll have to go visit and read the menu... better yet try it. Tonight I had to drop in to try the catfish.. It is priced at $21, but the price is fair, considering that catfish isn't a common fish to find in Alberta. The breading is a bit spicy,.. a nice little bit spicy! 2 pcs of catfish cooked crispy on the outside and very moist and flaky on the inside. My choice of sides were the baked beans w/corn (garnished with sprinkles of crispy onion), and the very moist and tasty coconut cornbread. For dessert the Chocolate Mud Pie was tasty, with rich chocolate flavour and whipped cream. A filling finish to the meal. There will be more visits to try more items on the menu. There's the Mac & Cheese and Jerk chicken to sample. :) Jane Bond has gained me as a regular customer. While visiting this evening, I happened to find out that a couple other customers had traveled from across the city, as return customers to Jane Bond. Just another testimony to the quality of the food. A food truck operator branching out to the restaurant experience. Go visit Jane Bond BBQ. Support your local entrepreneur! read more

Alright, this location is not in the best part of town so don't say I didn't warn you! But it's worth the visit! BBQ is all about sharing so the times I've been here, I've brought friends. The first time, we got the combo platter of jerk chicken, pulled pork, smoked brisket with the mac & cheese and coconut corn bread as our sides. The second time, we got a full rack of the St Louis ribs and the onion ring poutine. Although I'm not a huge pulled pork or brisket fan, Jane Bond really knocked it out of the park! The ribs were saucy and fall off the bone good! The poutine - meh. It was ridiculously salty and i think the combo of BBQ sauce AND gravy was too much, maybe one or the other would have been better. They have daily specials here like HH from 3-6pm that includes $4 highballs, $5 wine, half price appies and $20 off their Bond Platter (trust me, we've already planted the idea with our friends to take advantage of this!) so you have no reason to not check this place out! read more

Food is delicious, service is great and the prices are very reasonable compared to quantity and quality of the food.

Stopped in to grab some food for a late lunch as I had a Groupon about to expire. What a mistake - there was no way we could possibly eat all the things we wanted to try! Settled for the brisket and pulled pork, with sides of baked beans, coconut cornbread, mashed potato, and garlic butter peas and carrots. Everything was amazing. The coconut cornbread was unreal! BBQ arrives in #YYC! If you haven't heard of or been to Jane Bond, figure yourself out and make it a priority. Jenny and co made my step-daughters birthday an awesome experience with personal, prompt and killer service .. fantastic food and a wicked ambience. The old fashioned, BBQ chicken, Mac and cheese, the hoagie and catfish were all fantastic options. Liberal portions at an agreeable price point make it that much sweeter. Speaking of sweeter, the desserts are incredible and the signature drinks are insane ..! This will become a regular spot for us - gotta try everything on the menu .. at least once! Yes read more

The chicken is fantastic. Everyone I know loves the Mac n cheese. But the brisket is dry. I've had it several times and it is just dry... smoked brisket should be juicy and melt in your mouth. For the high price point the food was quite disappointing. Grease dripping off, while very dry and unseasoned. The chicken and cornbread were the best pieces on the plate. Maybe we've gone during a bad time but I wont be going back nor would I recommend it. read more

What a treat to find this place just off 17 ave and 36 st se. If this place was in Inglewood it would be packed every night. You know how you look for that place that is bright but also dark with the potential for relaxing intimacy. This is it! We had brisket onion rings and coleslaw. The onion rings were good ... not too greasy the coleslaw wasn't too vinegar or cream it tasted just right. The brisket was melt in your mouth tender and not greasy however we found it a bit too smoky. We would rate it second best out of bbq in the city but maybe number one for ambience...you almost felt like it was time for the band to start in the backyard. The staff was really prompt and friendly. Oh the best part was the peach cobbler...it tasted like home. Come soon before other people find it! The only way to improve it would be live music. read more

Came here on a Friday for lunch. I read the menu online and wanted to try everything! Ended up ordering the Hill Billy bbq sandwich with pork belly, coconut cornbread, cajun corn on the cob and shared the fried pickle sticks. I hated myself after cause I couldn't stop eating. This place did not disappoint. Their catfish was moist and sweet just like it should be. The brisket, pork belly and chicken were all excellent. We ordered dinner for a work related event at our home And were so disappointed by the service and the quality of food. The food arrived 2 hours late and we were sitting around panicking that it would not come at all, while trying to appear calm in front of our 16 guests, including 5 hungry children. There was no response to our phone calls or emails until the food was already and hour late. Now for the quality. The food arrived and was thankfully quite hot still. However, the mac and cheese and the potatoes were basically inedible. They were so strongly smoke flavoured. The meat was just ok. The owner apologized by email and offered a free dinner at her restaurant. No thanks read more

It was such a treat to go to Jane Bond. My husband had come across it and so we decided to check it out for our date night yesterday. It is a place tucked around the corner (ish) from 17th Ave SE, and it is very unassuming upon first glance. Once we walked in through the door, the ambiance was warm and welcoming as though you were popping in for some good home cooked meals. I got the jerk chicken leg with coconut cornbread and cajun corn. We also ordered onion rings to start, but the server/co-owner forgot to put it in right away - she apologized profusely and put it on rush after we brought it to her attention. I appreciated them being very careful about the whole nut-allergy situation (yay! no issues!), and the food was delicious. The Jerk sauce is of mild to medium spice, and very flavourful, though could use a bit more spice for my tastes. The cornbread!! OH the cornbread was so good :) totally hit the spot. I tried a bit of my husband's mac and cheese side and seriously!! So good. The service - awesome! After the server/co-owner realized she missed the onion rings, she took it off our bill and gave it to us as an apology! Very knowledgeable, very friendly, and on the ball! I highly recommend this place - it is worth the trip! We are happy we've found a new BBQ place and so excited to go back for more! read more

I was so excited to have a BBQ place close to my house. We ordered for delivery through Skip the Dishes and the food arrived very promptly. We ordered two brisket dinners and our sides were mac n cheese, baked beans, bacon wrapped corn and fries with garlic dipping sauce. We also ordered the corn bread and the mud pie in a jar. The fries were good... they are the reason this gets a one star rating. The "brisket" wasn't actually brisket... it was sliced roast beef cooked on a grill. The mac n cheese was disgusting and was drowning in liquid smoke. The beans were ok but nothing to get excited about. The corn was overlooked and dry. The cornbread was inedible. The biggest disappointment (other than the brisket) was the dessert... we got two (paid a total of $16) for the most disgusting pile of goop. It was supposed to be chocolate pudding with Oreo crumbs and whipped cream and tasted like someone ate them and regurgitated them into our dishes. Don't waste your money here. read more

There are those moments when you visit a restaurant, have an amazing experience and realize you HAVE to eventually leave. Too bad we couldn't take Jane Bond BBQ home with us because I'd have the mac & cheese every day of the week. Don't get me wrong, Jane Bond is, in my opinion, Calgary's preeminent place for BBQ, but I just couldn't stop thinking about the mac & cheese. The texture of the crumbled cornbread mixed in with a hint of BBQ sauce. It's ingenious how the bit of acidity in the BBQ sauce combines with the cheese so well. I had the hoagie, but with brisket. The hoagie is a huge sub sandwich with layers of cheese, pickles and onion rings. You can tell it was well made and thought out down to the choice of bread. The bun was the perfect thickness, soft on the inside and held the "goods" together. There was a tad bit of a wait for our food to come out but I think it was because our appetizer got missed. It was quickly corrected by the lovely owner and the onion ring appetizer came out a minute after our meals. Great onion rings and the chipotle mayo sauce had a good amount of heat. The owner was nice enough to take the onion rings off our bill, even though I think it was mostly my fault for adding too many side orders to my hoagie, it probably confused the order :) I grew up in Forest Lawn / Heights area and the unassuming location in Forest Lawn is perfect because it becomes a destination spot for me to visit the old hood (I'm allowed to say 'hood' because I grew up there ok? :) The Tennessee sweat tea was a great refreshing drink to wash all that goodness down. The bill, even after a tip was quite good considering all the food we ate, we almost had to be rolled out of there. I'd highly recommend checking out Jane Bond for your next BBQ experience. read more

Great decor , looks amazing inside. Parking is a bit of an issue . Service started ok , then deteriorated. We ordered the Bond platter and had to wait just over an hour for the good to hit the table. It was ok at best. There's a full rack of ribs (we got dry) they fell apart and had no smoke ring . The pulled pork was bland but paired nicely with the BBQ sauce on the table. Chicken was fine , but nothing remarkable. Brisket was good, but it was the only meat on the table with a smoke ring. The chorizo were served dunked on the beans. They had a nice spice to them . The beans were flat , giving neither spice nor sweetness. Cole slaw was salty and had a gunky texture. Corn cobs were excellent and the highlight of the meal. Corn bread was moist . The meat portions on the platter (except the ribs were suitable for 2 at best. The brisket was so small that only 2 got to try it. The platter as served is a terrible deal. It's all coleslaw and beans. The food and ambiance was worth 3 stars ,but the hour long wait and value of the $109 platter took away from the experience. read more

Five stars for atmosphere four for the food. I had the BBQ parfait and I would come back again and again for this entree. Mashed potatoes corn gravy beans and brisket, my dream meal. My husbands entree was underwhelming and VERY heavy on artificial smoke flavor. My son had pork poutine which was an appetizer but a HUGE portion. Two desserts were enjoyed, peach cobbler...... amazing and a chocolate cake thing also delicious. As for critiques..... the same song played over and over and the artificial smoke flavor is waaaaaaaaaay too strong. Great place please check it out read more
