A long overdue review! I've been fortunate to enjoy good dental care throughout my life. But I was stunned by the level of service and quality 9g care I received with Dr. Jana Kaye. In hindsight, I could see what I had been missing at other offices. The experience begins the first time you call for an appointment. Her front office staff are genuinely kind and very professional, knowledgeable and sincerely helpful. The office itself is not only lovely but meticulously clean and outfitted with current equipment and everything the doctor needs to perform services. The hygienists in this office also deliver another level of outstanding service. Incredibly gentle touch, extensive cleanings, and it is very clear they have an outstanding relationship with Dr. Kaye. Everyone is calm, confident and unhurried - it makes for a very peaceful experience. Dr. Kaye spends a great deal of time with her patients. Her exams are very thorough. There is no rushing. She narrates everything she is doing in real time. She takes the time to review every detail of your oral health and her recommendations. What I found especially comforting and refreshing, was how careful she is in making recommendations for treatment. She does not sensationalize the need or urgency for procedures but rather provides you with options, realistic timelines and projected outcomes so that together you can make an informed decision to achieve the best results. There's no pressure, upselling or fear-mongering, only a sincere desire to maintain and advance your oral health. Probably five years ago, after my dentist of 30 years had retired, I was blessed to become a patient of Dr. Kaye. My wife is also a patient and on both of our behaves I can say that Dr. Kaye and her staff are utterly amazing from the moment you arrive until the time you check out everyone is supportive friendly and efficient. She is highly skilled and is very attentive both to comfort and efficiency. If the appointment is 9 AM then I am called into the room at 9 AM. If it is scheduled for one hour it will not exceed one hour. While I'm sure she does her homework in advance of every appointment, she has a prodigious memory. I've been remiss in not writing this review much sooner. I cannot recommend this practice highly enough! Everything from the front office to every aspect of the dental care provided is A+. My multi-month treatment plan began at the start of the pandemic. I was referred to Dr. Kaye by my periodontist. The treament involved a long process of whitening all teeth to prepare for a significant amount of upper front dental work. Due to chipped teeth from childhood, I have never been happy with my teeth until coming to this office. The skillfull detailed work of Dr. Kaye changed everything. She is caring, thorough, and very patient-focused. Just amazing! Dr Kaye is incredibly conscientious. She is also very conservative in her method never looking to do extreme work but rather looks for the best approach. I have been going to her for over ten years. I had had some sub-standard dental work that needed repair and she was companionate and kind through the entire restoration process correcting the bad work that had been done previously by others. At first, I was concerned walking into the waiting room because there were multiple glass trinkets which were not toddler friendly. About 8 months ago, I posted a negative review for Dr. Kaye because she had told me that I needed dental work that I didn't need. After that, she posted a response with details that included my personal dental information, which is a clear outright violation of HIPAA -- the laws that govern the security and privacy of medical and dental information. (For more information, go to http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/index.html.) I removed my review to protect my medical privacy and reported her to the US Department of Health & Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and received a response from them today: "...Based upon our review of your correspondence, OCR has advised the covered entity of the concerns described in your complaint. The facility has been provided with technical assistance on appropriate disclosures of patient protected health information under the Privacy Rule. If in the future, the covered entity fails or refuses to take steps to address this concern based upon the technical assistance provided by OCR, we may need to contact you in connection with a formal investigation..." So, basically, because this is the first reported violation, the office has just received assistance to help them abide by the law in the future. While I might be able to understand a difference of professional opinion between Dr. Kaye and my current dentist (as well as another dentist I consulted on the issue), I cannot understand, nor tolerate, an outright violation of clear privacy laws and would not recommend Dr. Kaye to anyone. She is actually the reason I started using my initials on Yelp -- to protect my privacy yet still be able to inform the public about the practices of businesses.
