I have taken my time to write this review and so now I shall do so. It was around April and may that I had an entire smile makeover. It looks stunning and the dentist is an artist. Now I have had horrible experiences with dentists I'm afraid of them to be honest. Dr. Matian made it easy on me letting me know everything and I do mean he was like the DR of Details. In his work clearly (SEE MY PICTURE) gorgeous. But he also was very health smart this is why I was concerned as the last dentist I went to had no regard for how harmful fluoride and amalgam are to the biologic nature that is our body. Dr Matian explained to me that I didn't need to do fillings on teeth that were going to fail. I already knew that they had the issue as I am older. So he helped replace the tooth with a ceramic implant, and all upper hand layered veneers as I want to look my best who wouldn't?I felt mainly with Ramona who says everything then writes it all out gives you your financing options and then boom your done, Tim amazing thank you for getting me in when I basically demanded it Jepson (I think I spelled that incorrectly) Jepson is a great guy he took my X-rays with ease like the X-ray whisperer I felt so comfortable. The hygienist was so sweet and kind and a pro at what she does! here is the thing I can not stress how much I am afraid of dentists, I was a couple of times its a personal anxiety of not knowing what to expect. I was referred by Brian a friend of mine who had some work done that looks so natural so perfect that I thought it was high time if he said the dentist was good he has to be good. So far everything is as it should be. This office has such a great vibe and friendly bunch of people. Its not like regular dental offices where people look afraid concerned mad and in a rush! I do recommend this dentist. If you want to look good feel good. Thank you Dr. Matian and your staff. I especially appreciate that you are honest. Im sure I could have gone to a hack job dentist that would have fixed the failing teeth with crowns but thats chasing good money away. I don't play that game... Great dentist! read more

I have been a patient at Bio for many years. Was always hesitant about the feeling of Dr. Matias. I have never felt safe in his care and there have been a few hiccups with his work on me. Last week I was scheduled for 2 crowns and a overlay. I can not believe the treatment of what I went through for this appointment. I am still in excruciating pain 4 days later after his work. First of all I realize the tooth that needed work was all the way in the back of my mouth but I was completely traumatized at how he flipped me backwards in a decline and then shoved a drill in my mouth while the assistant poured the water down my throat without barely sucking up the fluids going down my throat. I choked several times. Dr told me to "raise my hands" when I needed to swallow. Annoyed and impatient I continued to raise my hands to try to swallow the large amounts of water and drilled stuff going down my throat. He became more and more impatient with me but put on a fake "its ok" voice. (I mean HOW am I supposed to not swallow when I am laying in a decline and there is water being poured into my mouth!?) the Dr jokes I was "getting extra calcium that day" due to all the stuff I was accidentally swallowing. He yanked my cheeks SO hard and pounded on my jaw as if I was a rag doll. I am now bruised and blistered from his rough handling of me. I have never experienced something so traumatizing and violent. 3 hours in and he jokes that his work was "great" the color of the crown was "great" but the patient was "ahhhh"- how absolutely RUDE- because I was choking from his work!? he hands me a $5,000 bill and never says good-bye or to see how I was doing!? worst part was he was "fixing" a crown he put in 1.5 years ago. Charging me to fix something he most likely messed up and won't admit to. He cut up my tongue so bad and the sides of my cheeks. He knew what he was doing but was too impatient to protect my tongue or care if I was choking on water the entire time. I brought both my husband and daughter to him and never a "thank you". I know for sure that Dr. Shawn Matian has a dental office that does good teeth cleaning, because I did have my teeth cleaned there by a good hygienist. I know for sure that Dr.Shawn Matian is a fraudulent dentist, because he charged me $3000 for a phantom treatment, yes he told me I needed an implant and it would cost would be $3200. then he told if I give him upfront $3000, he will save me $200 . I gave the office $3000 and he did not do the treatment or return all or any of my money I told my insurance company and they said he actually informed them that he inserted the implant and they could not believe that he would lie about it. In fact, he is a practicing liar and he even tried to collect money from insurance for the treatment that he never performed. In a dental article called "Warning Signs of a Bad or Fraudulent Dentist" #1 They Charge You for "Phantom Treatments" If you think Shawn Matian is an honest professional, think again. He is a professional con artist acting as a Dentist and he is glad that the hole left in my mouth gets infected, because he has no respect for dental hygiene and proper dental treatment; his greed consumes him. The quality of care I got at Bio Dental was substandard and non-existent. Maybe some patients get good dental treatment at Bio Dental, unfortunately I was not one of them and lost $3000 cash and had phantom dental work, while greedy Matian pocketed my money. read more

I initially found Bio Dental online and enquired about getting veneers done while I was travelling in the US from Australia. All communications via email were prompt & they answered all questions I had. The price was the best in LA & they had multiple veneer options. Scheduling was an issue for me (as not only was it short notice, but I was only able to fly in for 1 day at a time) and they were extremely accommodating- having the veneers consultation & prep on the first day & the application 3 weeks later. Dr Shawn was so great- he has such a wonderfully relaxing "chair side" manner everything about the experience was painless. I had 10 veneers placed on the top teeth & the result is beyond what I was expecting!! I put all decisions in the hands of Dr Shawn (as he knows exactly what the perfect smile should look like & what suits your teeth & face best)- he chose the shape & colour and I am so please I cannot express what a difference this will make to your life & confidence. I owe Dr Shawn immense gratitude for all he has done & would recommend him to everyone I know. For international customers he can definitely look after your needs. First and foremost I would like to say that the staff including Jessica Gibson and Tim the office manager were absolutely stellar JESSICA, TIM AND YEPSON their professional manners and kind way was the first thing that I noticed the office is absolutely immaculate with all the latest technology and comfortable surroundings in addition when I met Dr. Matian he was absolutely knowledgeable in everything we talked about and his constant attention to detail was very noticeable. I came in totally unprepared for what was the best experience I think I've ever had in a dental office in addition I needed some immediate attention to a bridge that I had that was cracked and fractured the doctor assured me and then he proceeded to repair my bridge not only did he repair it but it looked like it was new I could not get over his professionalism and his he he is true mannerisms he is truly someone who not only cares about his patients but is there to help them in any way possible. we also discussed a long term fix for my dental needs his staff his office is unquestionably one of the finest I have ever been to if you need any dental work consultations or any other dental procedures I would highly advise you to see Dr. Matian. read more

Dr. Shawn is such a blessing. My mother started going there not too long ago and drives from Ventura, CA just to see him. She used to hate her smile and try to smile with her mouth closed in every picture OR would make me re-take it if you could see her "struggle tooth". Dr. Shawn has made my mother's confidence sky rocket through the roof. She is smiling all over the place an cannot stop. I have not seen her so happy in such a long time and feeling so great about herself. She deserves this and everything else she will receive and so much more! I'm so excited to finally have a dentist I love! I've been dentist hopping for years, but no longer! Since I found, Bio Dental located at Encino 17200 Ventura Blvd suite 314 This place is awesome,great location and easy to find, the receptionist and the stuff members are warm and welcoming. The entire office is very clean, the x-rays are a breeze there, the hygienist is great and knows what she is doing. Dr. Shawn Matian is a great individual, and very professional dentist. He doesn't try to upsell anything, he gives you facts, his best judgement and the rest is up to you. In my opinion is the best,he is a doctor in his heart and soul. I felt safe in very good hands the entire time he was treating my teeth. Dr.Shawn Matian did porcelain crown restoration of my entire mouth very fast with no pain!!!!! The result is amazing. So usually I expect the dentist to be a older white-haired serious type who inflicts pain in the name of dental health, so you can imagine how surprised I was when I went to Bio Dental and I was in the back room with a surprisingly young doctor with a friendly personality and a bag of jokes to lighten the mood. We took some xrays and decided to replace two of my silver fillings from my early teenage years which I hated. Before I knew it we were listening to Bruno Mars, I was numb, and in less than 30 minutes I was done. The two ugly silver fillings (which were also leaking) were gone and two white fillings were placed. For a second I had to figure out which teeth we did because they looked 100% natural and I couldn't tell. I'm scheduled to go see the hygienist for a cleaning and bleaching which I'm actually looking forward to! If my last appointment was any indication it should be a breeze. read more

The front desk staff is always welcoming, the doctors are incredibly competent, but the true star of the show is Mona. Mona is hands down the best dental hygienist I've ever had. She's kind, caring, and has such a calming demeanor. If you're someone who feels nervous or avoids cleanings, she is the perfect person to help guide you through the experience. Dr. Matian does high quality work and the price is great. I came to Bio Dental to have the bonding on two teeth replaced with veneers. I did the in office and take home bleaching before choosing a color. The in office bleaching is well worth the money. The veneers look absolutely amazing. I am a student and money is tight, Dr. Martian was able to work with me. He gave me a perfect smile without putting me in the poor house. I also have 6 silver fillings that will eventually need to be replaced with white. His staff was able to set up a plan for me to get one quadrant of my mouth done at a time so that it is more affordable. The facility is immaculate and his staff is so friendly. The front office was all smiles and made me feel at ease right away. I live in the Tarzana area and was looking for a dentist. I emailed and called several offices but Bio Dental was the first to respond. Tim answered my questions and made me feel confident that I had chosen the right place to receive dental care. I am very content and pleased with Dr. Matian and his staff. Dr. Matian is very friendly, listens and does a good job. His office is very clean and up-to-date. I recently had a tooth pulled and a bone graft. I had a few concerns with the swelling and I sent Dr. Matian a text message and he called me within minutes to address my concerns, which turned out to be nothing.
