Every appointment I've had with Animal Care Clinic has been with a Vet who very clearly cares about what they do and demonstrate compassion and gentleness with my finicky fur baby. I have gone to PLENTY of vets and I assure you this is the best I've found so far in all of San Diego and very much worth the longer drive. Parking is always available and there are several appointment times making it easy to schedule a visit. The only caveat is that it is rather pricey. I will always do the best I can for my cat, so I know it's worth it. But it can be quite a high price so make sure it's in your budget.

Since the retirement of Dr. Roger Beckman and, I'm guessing, the sale of ACC, it feels like the focus has shifted from pet care to pet sales. We brought our puggle in because one of her nails was growing abnormally and needed attention. This was a follow-up visit after an initial appointment that cost $392 for an exam and antifungal medication. At today's visit, we were given two options: sedate her for about $200 and trim the nail, or trim it without sedation and give her something for discomfort beforehand. We chose the second option. The nail was trimmed back, along with the rest of her nails. When we received the bill, however, we discovered we had been charged nearly $100 for a Carprofen injection that had never been quoted. My wife questioned the charge, and the technician acknowledged the concern, but by then the injection had already been administered. The total bill for today's visit? $317. That included the injection plus $37 for two Carprofen caplets. So after spending more than $700 between the two visits, we ended up with a trimmed nail and a lot of sticker shock. To be clear, Dr. Sullivan was great. She was professional, caring, and took the time to explain the treatment plan. My issue isn't with her. It's with a process that seems increasingly focused on adding charges and selling services rather than providing transparent, affordable care. After 25+ years as a customer, that's disappointing. Pet owners should ask detailed questions and get all costs in writing before authorizing treatment. Sadly, it's probably time for us to find a new veterinarian.

When I told Tori who was ringing me up that I had never paid before. She It's because you asked for it this time (to be clear I wasn't here for a nail trimming, t was for my puppies rabies shot). I explained I did not know that. When I gave her my credit card the charge was $3750. She said the extra charge was for California Waste Tax. I was clearly upset. There was no discussion as to splitting it or waiving it this time. The 3 workers at the front desk were more worried about getting their money than keeping a new customer happy. Disappointing.

I brought my 12 year old dog Zelda and 14 year old dog Rocky in for boarding for 10 days while we were on vacation. I spoke with Jennifer about boarding and told them about the issues with my dogs, Zelda has some dog aggresion towards other dogs and Rocky is very old, has some potty accidents and has joint and hip issues. I was told Singing Hills would board them as they take "special needs" dogs so I would not have to worry too much about Rocky, they would give him a light sponge bath if he had a potty accident or it would be $20 for a full bath. I told them very clearly I did not want a daily $20 bath, or any extras, and they did not give a price for a quick sponge cleaning. At the start of my vacation a vet tech started texting me several times per day about Rocky's medicine dosage. Then the next text messages were claiming Rocky was not able to walk at all and the techs had to carry him and put slings on him, which was very alarming since he walked into Singing Hills just fine without any issues. Then another text came in saying the manager will be charging me an extra $20 PER DAY for Rocky's care because he was too much for the staff to handle and I would have to speak with her on Monday morning since they are closed on the weekends. Monday I spoke with the manager who sounded frantic when telling me about Rocky's few days there. She then texts me later that same day and says both of Rocky's ears are bleeding, he is rubbing his ears and smearing blood on the walls, and that there was a weird swollen bump on his mouth. They needed the doctor to examine his ears and texted a picture of the inside of his ears, I didn't see any blood and they just looked really dirty with brown gooey buildup. I declined the exam, I wanted my veterinarian to examine Rocky. The next day I get another text saying Rocky was viciously attacked by Zelda, he has a wound on his head and the doctor at Singing Hills has to examine and treat him with or without my consent, they also put Rocky in a seperate "medical suite" and said they were going to charge me more money. I could not believe it when they said Zelda attacked Rocky, she never has in the 12 years we had her. They sent surveillance footage to my cell from the kennel. What the video shows is nothing they described, there was no dog attack....Rocky was clearly standing up by the entry gate in the video (Singing Hills claims he could not stand or walk at all), Zelda walks past him to the other end of the kennel and he falls over. He may have hit his head on the wall when he fell over since he has hip and joint issues. I called the manager questioning this because I am getting very suspicious of them contacting me multiple times a day on my vacation telling me they are charging more money every day for my dogs care and "injuries". I asked the manager if she could send the original surveillance footage to my husbands email for better quality view and she gave me the run around, said she needed a "computer person" to do that and nobody in the office knew how to do it. I mentioned to her that we were suspicious of everything going on, all the multiple texts, issues with my dogs in their care and extra upcharges. She then became argumentative, unprofessional and gave me a bad attitude for duration of the call telling me to have someone come pick my dogs up immediatley if I am not happy with the care provided, she claimed their kennel is the best and loving to animals. So I was forced to leave my dogs there for a few more days because I didn't have anyone pick them up and we were in another country. Singing Hills stopped the multiple texts after I confronted them on that last call. When we picked up the dogs, I could not believe what I saw. Rocky looked liked he had been drugged with some kind of sedative that was wearing off and had to be carried to my truck. And then we received a shocking bill of $1,560.40 for a 10 day stay for 2 dogs, we were able to get only a small military discount. We took Rocky to our regular veterinarian the next day, he seemed fine, happy and back to normal after he left Singing Hills and he was walking and standing up. We had him fully examined, we told our vet everything Singing Hills told us, the vet was shocked at what we told her. There was no evidance of blood in his ears they were just really dirty, the weird bump on his lip looked he bit his lip from eating too fast, and the wound on his head that Singing Hills claimed was from my other dog "attacking him" was not a dog bite at all, it was a small straight split wound. No puncture wounds whatsoever around his face neck or body. Don't let Singing Hills take advantage of you like they did to us and we did our research on them before boarding our dogs. Singing Hills Animal Hospital is totally incompetent and greedy!
