I love the way my horse responds when she sees Dr Garfinkle. She trusts Christi and it shows in her expression.

The VCA in El Cajon is where I get all of my animal health care…read more Went to the VCA for Sesame's annual check-up and his Rabies and FVRCP vaccines and to also drop off a stool sample for the GI Parasite test. I booked an appointment through the app to meet with Dr. Robin Roque as usual. I was able to check in with the receptionist and helped myself to some of their complementary coffee while waiting for the nurse and physician. Both the nurse and Dr. Roque were very kind to Sesame and I. They answered my questions about his health and walked me through what symptoms to keep an eye out for. They were patient and thorough and didn't rush us at all. Overall satisfied with the experience. the appointment lasted maybe 30 minutes from intake to check-out.

I have a vet for my other two senior cats, but I`m willing to shop around. I showed up on time and checked in. The front desk person seemed disorganized and not friendly. It felt a bit chaotic in there and it wasn't even busy. How is that possible? I gave them my coupon and waited to be seen. Waited, waited, waited. That wasn't a big deal. I have patience and I understand stuff happens. Finally I`m called back and the vet assistant is also not really friendly but I stick with the appointment. She weighs the kittens and looks over them. She tries to sell me on their pet wellness plan for kittens, which is actually quite expensive compared to the insurance I got. I didn`t want a sales pitch right away. Then she said the doctor would be in. More waiting. More waiting. At this point, I thought about leaving because we were in there a LONG time. The doctor comes in and doesn't introduce himself, looks disheveled and a wreck. I am now committed to this appointment, so I let him look over the kittens. The first thing he says is, "yep those are kittens". Then he mumbles that he forgot something and leaves for like 5 minutes. I`m pretty much done at this point. He comes in and gives a quick exam, not really doing anything at all. He says they look good and that I should get some testing(not even sure what he said honestly) and that I could get that cheaper elsewhere. Then he leaves and the vet assistant comes back in, asking if I want to schedule their follow-up. No. No, I do not. I said I need to check my schedule and I`ll let them know. We go back to the waiting room and wait...and wait some more. Painful at this point. They give me that copy of wellness exam proof, but didn`t have any other notes(because the doctor DID NOT DO ANYTHING). They give me little baggies with some cat food and a key chain with their name on it. Then the vet assistant tries to sell me on their wellness package again and seems annoyed when I said no. If this visit is indicative of what it is normally like here...hard pass. I`ll go to my other vet and get my kittens established there. Oh, to top it off, they gave me a receipt that has their wellness fee($99) zeroed out, like they gave me $100 worth of service for free. I wouldn't have paid $10 for that "service". Eeeesh.

The staff checked in the next morning to see how Charlie was doing, they were so caring when we were there and made us feel super comfortable leaving him for surgery. They went over everything related to the bill and medications with no pressure for extra things like blood work which I did anyways! Charlie is like my kid so always wanna be safe! Our doctor Melissa was amazing she was so good with Charlie and everyone there said how sweet and calm he was. They also gave him an anti nausea injection because he was drooling a lot after he woke up from anesthesia, at no charge because they hadn't quoted us for it. Plus they removed a skin tag while he was out! Over all we are so glad we found this vet hospital such a great experience for a terrible situation! Thank you all again!!! Charlie is doing great and back to his happy self even with the stitches!

I was an emotional mess and every single staff member made it the best experience it could possibly have been. Let's just start with communication... never once did I have to call and check the status of our girl. The vet techs send pictures and updates several times a day... I received a good night pic and text nightly and a morning update on how she did through the night. Dr. Hample is an amazing surgeon that exudes love for her profession. She called every day and every time she shared the progress of Jewels, I knew we made the right choice and she was in the safest care. Dr. Johnson also exudes love and compassion for his patients and their parents. A very kind gentle man that offered much assurance while I sobbed confirming she had do have a very intense surgery. He celebrated in her recovery and let her give him as many kisses as she felt necessary. All in all I really cannot say enough good things about this team. The caring culture exudes through every team member. Bonus... their prices are the best as is their team. Jewels is fully recovered and back to her boisterous and loving little self.

I was discussing with the front desk about my dogs comprehensive exam where the lady at the front desk who told me "We completed his exam," I said "not really because the vaccines were not given and the blood test wasn't ran." She responded "Yes, you're correct so, we didn't complete it." Dr. McNeil from across the waiting area looked at me and said "I did complete it." I ignored her and looked back at the woman at the desk and said "Please let your vet know to not yell at me from across the room." So Dr. McNeil stormed over, and got close to me and smiled and said "Hello" with a big grin on her face. I'm assuming to intimidate me and I asked her "what do you need?" She proceed to argue and raise her voice about how she did complete her exam. The lady behind the desk tried to ask her to stop and tell me "we can still do the vaccines and blood work right way, super quick." Dr. McNiel proceeded to yell out "I'm not doing anything for her because she's rude." while storming off to the back. Mind you she got so close to me that the front desk woman had to touch her should her to make her step back. I am so displeased with this interaction and this doctor. Please do something. Due to this I am cancelling my membership to Banfield Hospitals that I have used for 5 years.

Last Friday, they called me toward the END of the time window they were supposed to arrive, to say that the appointment before me took longer than expected and they would have to reschedule. That annoyed me greatly. They rescheduled for the next available appointment a week later. Frankly I felt like they should have cancelled someone else's (first) appointment to have my dog seen sooner since this was their second cancellation of my appointment. Today was the third rescheduled date. I just got a call that, sorry, they have to cancel, I should call to reschedule. What is wrong with you? I'm not here waiting to have my blinds fixed or furniture delivered... I have an animal who is suffering who needs health care. He is now developing sores around his eyes where weeks ago he just had slight indications of a skin issue. Total failure as a business and healthcare provider and has shown complete disregard for the suffering of my animal.
