This is not a very good farmers market. The building itself looks filthy & condemned/3rd world. The inside looks pretty much the same. Plus the parking is terrible. I love farmers markets but this one is the worst one I have seen. There are much better ones in the area that look welcoming, inviting, invigorating, clean & tidy. Do not recommend. read more

We have been passing by this market for 8 months. Today we stopped in as we needed fresh produce. You will not be disappointed. This market has everything you could need. I was too surprised by the selection and variety to take out my phone for many pictures. I love to try creative dishes with different produce you don't see at your everyday market. The young lady checking us out was so friendly and helpful it really made shopping fun. Great vibes in this market for sure! We will be regulars! Loved this produce store! The variety of fruits and vegetables are massive. Ube potatoes, sand pears, dragon fruit just to list some of the items. The cashier was so sweet with me, they take all forms of payment so cash is not required, i know some produce places do that. I think my most expensive item was the frozen tuna steak. The store is very traditional and to the point, written prices, fresh herbs, dried fruits and veggies. Veggies are in open containers, there are scales and produce bags. Nothing too glamorous but it's still cozy snd welcoming. I feel like the frozen section was rich in Mediterranean choices if that's something you're into. Im going to make this my regular place to shop because i got all of this (Tuna steak, dried chilies, ube potatoes, dragon fruit, cilantro, sand pear, green bananas, plantain, scallions, red onion, tomatoes, and cucumbers ) for 24 dollars!!!!!!! read more

I like this place and would like to see them fluorish so I'll put this out there...It would give people another reason to go there if they could pick a small amount of herbs, mixed or not, to be weighed at checkout at an attractive price (or even free if less than a small amount). I think it would increase traffic greatly and would appeal to everyone. Most cooks only want a very small amount each week or so. This is an excellent produce market with a good selection and fair prices. As with all fresh produce markets, the affordable prices DO mean you should plan to eat all you buy here within 5 days or it may go bad. If you want pink, hard tomatoes you can still enjoy a week later, go pay double at Publix, but why? Jams is one of my favorite produce stands in Pinellas. Variety - they have a lot of specialty vegetables and all of the seasonal vegetables! I've never had an instance where they didn't have what I need. They also have a large cheese and seafood selection - their tuna steaks are good and very reasonable! Price - SO CHEAP! This is a quarter of the price you would pay at Publix. My favorite thing they do is the $1 discount bags. There are almost always a bag of ripe tomatoes, or peppers - which are great to start a marinara sauce or a stir fry! Efficiency - I can walk in, get all my produce for the week, and get out in 10 minutes. There is enough space to move around, they keep items in the same place, and check you out so quickly! Hidden gems - I love that they will have orchids, unique squash, GINORMOUS watermelons - always something new and fun to consider that's local! read more

This place is great, BUT their hours are wrong. I arrived at their store at 6:32 and the doors were locked. I went to open the door anticipating that the person behind the counter was there with remaining time on their schedule, however this wasn't the case. They close at 6:30 and the person behind the counter didn't pay any mind to me at the door, not even to motion that they're closed. This is a petty thing to review on, but that's why they have four stars. The produce is great. The prices are good. Great selection. However, arriving two minutes after they closed(which wasn't easy to discern considering their web presence says they close at eight) the person behind the counter seemed completely indifferent to the confused human being on the other side of the glass door. One lost star for customer service and care - I drove fifteen minutes out of my way to shop here and someone couldn't be concerned enough to update a website. read more

I bought some discounted produce for $1.00 per bag. Total rip off. Over 75% was moldy & rotten. It used to be a good deal but for the past year, they have started selling rotten moldy produce that should not be sold. The Health Dept needs to follow up on this. I'm a fan and feel like a kid in a candy store when I go to Jam's. I like seeing what new produce is to be found! During today's visit, I bought the golden beets and aloha peppers :).... as well as avocados, bok choy, red grapes, acorn squash, green onions, carrots....etc. The best treat was up by the cash register. Today they had the 99 cent coconut bars. They don't always have them but when they do, make sure to buy a few! For those that gave bad reviews... not sure why. It's a produce market... of course there may be some items that are 'ripe' or items that will not last as long as others... you pick and choose. I LOVE Jam's Produce! I always try to stop by on my way home from work because I feel that their veggies are superior to produce markets near my home including the big wigs. QUALITY: 5* Their produce never disappoints! It's always fresh because they're always rotating their product. VALUE: 5* Why go to Publix and pay $1.50 for scallions when I can come here and pay less than $1.00 for the same item and quality? Crunch numbers, people. CLEANLINESS: 5* I always see their employees sweeping, rotating, cleaning, and maintaining a good environment for us as customers. Going to Jam's is like going to a farmers market that's open everyday. Rich D's review really covers this store very well. What I'd like to add is that Jam's is no longer a secret. It does get busy at times, but to me it proves not only how popular it is, but also that it's a great value too. Look, I love Publix, I do most of my shopping there. One of the least favorite Depts. in Publix are their produce Dept. That's why I go to Jam's. Everything there is as if you are in a Farmers Market. Great tomatoes, not those waxy hot house tomatoes that you get at super market chains. I really could go on and on about their variety and freshness, it's true. The bottom line is...the bottom line. Value, much better prices than you'll find in a super market, with better quality too. How do they do it? Volume. There is 6 to 8 people working at any one time filling the needs of what has to be done. I've seen as many as 4 registers in use to keep the wait time low. The employees all have smiling faces and are ready to answer any questions you may have. It's really worth the time to visit this gem of a store on Clearwater Largo Rd, just north of Rosary Rd on the west side of the road. Can't miss the color....bright yellow and green! read more

This is now my go-to place for produce. It's like a farmers market heaven for me. I went for the first time this week and the staff was friendly, produce fresh, everything was inexpensive and I ate the BEST peaches in forever from there. I was saving my peaches for a recipe but ended up eating them all in a few days because they were so delicious. I'm so happy I stumbled upon Jam's... I'm actually on my way there right now *mmmmmmmm more peaches!!!* UPDATE: Went to publix and bought a few peaches. Took one bite out of the peach and threw it away. But for what it lacks in size, it makes up for in great prices and selection. The store is packed from wall to wall with tables/stacks/boxes of fresh produce. If you're there often enough, you'll definitely see trucks unloading crates of fresh produce regularly throughout the day, insuring their offerings are fresh. And unlike many farmers market type produce stands, Jam's will often rotate their inventory in and out of their coolers, further maintaining produce quality. Jam's always has some of the staples (bananas, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, lettuce, etc), but everything else is the store is seasonal. And when a particular type of produce is in season, the prices are extraordinarily cheap, e.g. when Publix was selling green peppers for $1.99/lb, I bought 1/2 lb. peppers at 6 for $1. Their quantity & selection of seasonal FL produce like strawberries, watermelons, peppers, tomatoes, and citrus is excellent. I usually shop there about twice a month, and the only negative some might find is that a very few of the produce items like green peppers may not be the picture perfect shaped examples you'll find exclusively gleaming in a Publix produce section. Since Jam's is buying many things straight from the farms, sometimes the selection is not sorted, so you'll get perfect shapes along with not-so-perfect shapes. In my opinion, that's usually irrelevant if you're willing to take just a few minutes and sort out the better looking items out of the stacks. And rarely, you'll find some peppers that haven't been perfectly washed....again, irrelevant to me since I clean all my produce anyway, regardless of where I buy it. Jam's doesn't have a website, and for that matter, I can't even find a phone listing. I don't know the hours either, but I'm guessing it's likely ~9-10am to ~6pm. read more

This place is awesome. Tons of fresh produce at great prices. I'm always shocked at how low the total is at the register! I have had great luck with delicious bell peppers, onions, oranges, nectarines, pineapple, cherries, mangos, kale, spinach, cilantro, you name it! They also have seasonal exotic type fruits that make you want to try something new. This place is always busy when I go after work, but I never have to wait in line too long. They have enough staff on hand and they are quick and helpful. I have already turned 3 coworkers on to this place, I am happy to recommend it to anyone! I am loving this place! I heard about it from a coworker and can't stop visiting. They have amazing fruits, veggies, free range eggs, and so much more for such a cheap price. I do notice that I shouldn't bulk buy and should buy items that will last me for that week because they do tend to rot fast. Of course none of the items are clean and you're going to have to learn how to pick out your produce, but I think that's the fun of produce shopping. Most of the time selection is fresh and good, other times not. It's not beautiful in there, the fruit and veggies dont sparkle, but it's cheap. $25 for a huge cart of produce! I have been a long term customer of JAMS..and i have loved it....until recently. I don't know what is going on there but the staff has become Rude and Nasty. For years they offered a discount to 1st responder's...last time i went and showed ID ..i was told they ONLY OFFER A DISCOUNT TO MILITARY.( no offense ..we are a military family) i asked why they stopped giving a discount to all 1st responder's (10%)..no one would answer me..the girl working the register stated she does not know nor does she care...well guess what..your rudeness list you a customer..Happy New Year! read more

I was in the other day and the onion were slimy, my avocodo had chew marks in it like a mouse ate it, and the berries were bad. I have been a customer here for 5 years and i just can't believe this place. I am so disappointed in Jams. I dont know if they have a new owner or what. My husband bought a sealed bag of walnuts there and when we opened it they were rancid. He tried to return them (almost 7 dollars) and they said they couldn't take them back because he opened the bag. My husband said how would I know they were bad if I didn't open the bag! They would not give him his money back even though it had only been an hour since he bought them. Needless to say I will never shop there again! read more

This place has gone terribly wrong. I was a very loyal customer up until several months ago. The quality and variety was unbeatable and the prices were spectacular. It makes me sad to see poor quality product and high prices now. And when something is cheap , it's because it's old and bad. I had been going to this place for at least four years , and the original owners had a great place and they sold it. Sadly I tried one last time a few days ago Everything was bad and off- tasting. Shame to see a great place go down like that. I can't bear to go back there again. I was so unimpressed by Jam's. We drove a long way to get produce here given the positive reviews. The quality was poor - there were so many flies swarming the mushrooms, it was disgusting. Almost all of the produce we purchased was bad within a few days. The sugar snap peas, which typically last for a significant period of time, were literaly disintegrating within days.
