You order upon walking in on the bar and I ordered one of the pre-made bagel sandwiches with lox and avocado. It was really good but the downside was that my friend ordered the pancakes and those took a while to be ready, so by the time her food was ready mine was already gone. The pancakes come on a really neat presentation and surrounded by fresh berries and syrup. The coffee options are on point with all the expected espresso drinks (latte, cappuccino, etc) with the option to choose any plant based milk substitute. I had the coconut milk cappuccino and it was excellent. After ordering we were given the options to pay at that time or later. We chose to pay later, which was a bad decision because it meant we had to stand in line again when leaving, so if given the option, make sure to pay up front.

We added takeout vegan veggie sandwich made with amazing bread and added a vegan chocolate dessert, rich and delicious for lunch later. Staff is super friendly and helped by describing all vegan options, politely and with a genuine smile. Felt the prices were a good value for exceptional quality food and calm, clean dining area. Hope you enjoy as much ad we did.

The Steakschmiede is conveniently located at the permanent fresh market on Carlsplatz. They offer high quality meats in different cuts and from different countries! The meat is not pre packed, so they cut the size to your liking. This is a big advantage to other popular meat shops. I went for an in bone dry aged US Ribeye and one piece off the bone. The in bone I grilled on the same evening and it was perfect, juicy and tender. The other piece I kept in the fridge for around 10 days letting it age more. The shop assistant explained to me that it would be no problem to leave it in their wrapping paper in the fridge for 2 weeks. He was soooo right! The meat was incredibly tender! In comparison to other shops their meat is less expensive. I will sure return!

It came with carmelized onions, cheddar and herb-buttered bread, but somehow it still tasted bland. I also expected more from the ingredients. The steak was cut into tiny strips and overcooked, and the cheese was the pre-shredded type sold in grocery stores. Maybe buying from the butcher is good here, but the food stand is overhyped.

The barista could definitely tell we looked confused, so she explained the process and translated the menu for us. A nice sandwich or panini will only set you back 4-5 euros. Coffee around 3 euros. Super cool vibe inside, you can see and smell the roaster and the pipes that run the coffee to the machines. The coffee bags from the various sources countries are throughout the entrance, and there's a lot of them! We had such a good experience the first time that we went back again the next day since it was near our hotel. Great place to relax for a while and grab a bite with a coffee or two. Plenty of locals throughout who I could tel were chatting for hours. Would come back again, and ps, try the pesto panini!

It was very loud actually. Not so great. I also order a sandwich, which tasted all right but it was nothing special. I saw people ordering breakfast with little bread baskets and muesli and yoghurt and that looked really good so I got kinda jealous haha. The interior of this place is okay, it is not very cozy and the tables are a bit to close to each other but it is neat and the colors are warm. You can only pay cash here, so keep that in mind.

When the Carlstadt district was laid out in the second half of the 18th century, this square was part of the plan. It was originally a parade ground for the French garrison during the French occupation of Düsseldorf in 1797. The Prussians also used Carlsplatz around the middle of the 19th century to exercise for their soldiers who were stationed in the barracks on Kasernenstrasse. In 1997, a group of traders was formed and they lease the square from the city and run the market themselves. The glass roof was added in 1998 and the glass pavilions in 2002. The market is held here six days a week and consists of some 60 traders with food, produce, meat, fish, bakery goods, fresh flowers and other trade goods. It should definitely be high on your list of stops when you visit Düsseldorf! [Review 16357 overall - 164 in Germany - 1864 of 2021.]

I also liked that so many of the stores also had lots of free samples that let you try and taste before buying. So this is not just a produce market, there are also a variety of food stalls - from Germany bratwurst to Italian and Indian - something for everyone! Would suggest shopping around tho' as prices vary tons. BTW, I visited on a Saturday and then came back again on Sunday, but it was closed, so be aware of that. When in Düsseldorf, absolutely recommend checking this place out! Yelp 239/ 2018
