I have lots to say for this review!…read more We had an ice maker leak in February that caused some damage to our kitchen and adjoining rooms. We originally decided to go with the network that worked with the company that helped us with the leak. It was going well and we got what we needed from insurance but for the rebuilding side of the project we didn't feel like we were much of a priority so towards the end of September, we reached out to Monica because two of our neighbors used her and were super happy. Monica came out right away and during our first meeting, I just knew that I wanted to work with her due to her creativity and professionalism. Once we pulled the trigger and hired Monica (we had to get out of our contract with the first company so that took some time), she started right away. We went and picked out all of the pieces for the remodel together. She listened to our thoughts and incorporated them into her designs for us. We had our entire downstairs redone. All new floors, new paint on all of the visible walls downstairs (went upstairs too), new baseboards, new sink and fixtures, we extended our counter to allow for open seating, refaced kitchen cabinets with new features that I wanted to add. We redid our guest bathroom as well. Refaced cabinets, lights, mirrors new paint and fixtures. Our family room got a fireplace make over too. I also have new light fixtures and chandeliers throughout our downstairs that her electrician installed for us. He also replaced and added sockets for us in the kitchen. I'm sure there is more that we did, but I'm drawing a blank. I'll add! But long story longer, it's November 17th and just a couple more little tweaks and we will be done and this only because we keep adding stuff to do because we love how things are coming along! Anyway, I guess all of this is to say that you WANT to hire Monica, whether you think you do right now or not! I've never worked with someone more organized and prepared! She has a huge binder with all of the info and plans, etc, for our kitchen and living room. I only wish our contractor and architect were as responsible, timely and had the same sense of follow-through! Susie brings a fresh take on design - I don't think anything she does is cookie-cutter, and that's what we wanted. We live in Laurel Canyon, and value originality and not looking like our house belongs in a bland catalog. Susie's design involves little pops of originality, along with very tasteful choices in the style of our house. I wish I could post photos of the finished product but we are still waiting for the contractor to fix some problems with the exterior sheathing currently, before we can install the new kitchen. I also should add, Susie worked with us intently on what would be functional for our family, as well as look great. I never felt like she was sacrificing function in order to look cool. I highly recommend Susie. She really kept us on track and helped us from feeling overwhelmed by all the choices that needed to be made in the design process. My family and I live in an open-concept house and have been struggling with how to make it feel functional and "homey".  The main obstacles were defining living/dining zones, adding storage, and making our short ceilings feel...not so short.  As this was our first experience using a designer, we opted for a consultation (where Susie gives direction/recommendations but we execute). She came to our house for 1.5 hours and brainstormed, shared product recommendations, and even helped us rearrange our existing furniture to a layout that made more sense.  This consultation alone broke some of our mental blocks and enabled us to create a new space using most of what we already own. I will definitely use Susie's other services too as we continue to grow in our house. Susie was easy to talk to, collaborative, and offered creative solutions. She was also fantastic in guiding me to the use of color in the house without making it too much, which I so appreciated. Overall, I just really appreciated having her expert eye and advice in general in making large and small decisions, she always made me feel confident. She was a great go between for my contractors as well, always guiding them to the best way to achieve something.
