I regret not reading the reviews before my appointment. I have more than my fair share of moles. I told him I haven't been to a dermatologist for years for a mole check, so I was surprised he only looked at my back (didn't even check under my bra strap) and my stomach. I would have said something, but I realized when that was the extent of his exam that it was a waste of time. I had to point out an area of concern to him and he dismissed me with a cream. I have been visiting Dr. Weintraub for a couple years for treatment and maintenance of skin issues. On every visit, Dr. Weintraub is absolutely excellent. He makes sure to give you his full time and attention to address any questions or concerns, and listens to his patients' feedback. His treatment and recommendations have been very effective, and he clearly communicates all details of the treatment, including the why. He remembers his patients and treats them like individual human beings while working together toward a working treatment solution. His staff is great - very friendly, open and communicative. Not gonna lie, even when I see some bad reviews I try and give someone a chance, but I should have trusted the luke warm reviews of Dr. Weintraub. I went in for just an annual skin check. He didn't even get up from his chair! He simply asked if I had an area of concern. HE is the doctor. Shouldn't he tell ME what I should be concerned about? Then he proceeded to tell me he wouldn't remove my age spots during the summer because when he does that people complain when they return because they are out in the sun. Ok ... He spent more time pimping out his opera teacher than he spent in my appointment. Charged a $60 copay. Never again. Staff/receptionist is completely oblivious how to perform her job. I had made an appt to come see the dr a month in advance- I ended up calling the weekend before my appt to inform them I won't be able to make my appt. they should have received my voicemail over the weekend, I work full time and have an infant so I rarely pick up calls. They ended up calling me on the day of my appt , I was unable to answer (I already left a vm 48 hours in advance informing them I won't be able to come so there was no reason for me to answer and repeat myself). Flash forward a couple months down the road and they mail me a 50$ no show fee (mind me it's my wrong name on the invoice lol!) First & foremost i will never pay that invoice. To your incompetent receptionist, please do your job and make sure you check voicemails. Delete me from your system, as I will never come to your office nor recommend you to anyone! read more

I'd been going to Dr. Weintraub for painful acne for a few years. He was always really open about the process, didn't try to sell me any additional or unnecessary products (and was open and accepting when I wanted to stop a product), and made the medical/science-side of things easier to understand, which I LOVED and really appreciated. I really liked his process of asking questions, listening, and using that to decide the best recommended course of action. It always felt as though he was actively listening to my concerns and how I was responding to treatments/products, so we could find the best products for me. I started with a topical steroid and oral tablets and then just oral tablets as the acne eased and became less painful. Having clearer skin and no painful acne really boosted my self esteem, and I'm really grateful to feel confident and no pressure to wear foundation/want to cover my skin or avoid pictures. Also, he was also able to help a relative by correctly figuring out a nail issue that had been going on for a couple years and kept getting misdiagnosed (even by other dermatologists). The women in the front are friendly and almost every time I went in, they would give me free samples (not sure if this is still happening but it was certainly a nice perk!) so the general feeling of the office is warm and nice. If you have skin or nail concerns, I definitely recommend Dr. Weintraub!! (Pictures show my skin from the start of using the products, from when my acne got much better, and finally from now--little to no acne--because I avoided pictures and used filters when I did have acne. I came to see Dr. Weintraub because I had a really bad skin reaction to a surgery in my right hand. Before coming to Dr. Weintraub, I spoke to my surgeon who said I had a reaction to something I had put on my hand. I explained that it was in my whole arm. He asked to see my primary or a dermatologist. I decided To see Dr. Weintraub. De. Weintraub examined my arm and said that this was a reaction to something they have given me during surgery. My new doctor did a full body exam and found two items of concern. I had a mole removed and one is being monitored though photos they keep in my file.. completely different experience. I took my daughter to see Dr Weintraub for a skin rash that was spreading across her face and chest. While it seemed to be a reaction to something new, we didn't want her to have to perform the holiday concert with red marks all over her face, that and it itched like crazy. The office intro was very quick and professional, Dr Weintraub was patient and kind explaining all the possibilities and asking a ton of questions. He prescribed a cream which immediately stopped the itching and within a couple days the red spots were gone, we didn't even apply the cream for the full week before we saw him again. Dr Weintraub saw my 4-year old daughter for a widespread hives rash on her midsection, arms, and thighs. After failing to improve with a round of steroids that our pediatrician prescribed, we saw Dr Weintraub. He suggested taking her off of her probiotic and multivitamin gummies -- we tried that for a week, and her rash was effectively gone by the next week we went to see him. Dr. Weintraub is an excellent dermatologist. I discovered a rash last week and suspected it was shingles. I had a hard time getting an appointment in a timely fashion with my core group of doctors. I randomly called Dr. Weintraub The day after I discovered my rash. He answer the telephone and suggested I come in right away within the hour. One hour later I was in his office where I had a confirmed diagnosis of shingles. He prescribed the appropriate medication and one week later it is almost healed. My son has been seeing Dr. Weintraub for over a year now for severe acne, and he's done an amazing job of helping my son clear up his skin. Today, it was mom's turn. I had a growth on my lower leg that had changed suddenly - doubled in size, gotten darker, etc. Today I had that growth removed for a biopsy, and it was a painless procedure. Dr. W doesn't think it's cancer but better to be safe than sorry. The staff is always very professional and there's never a wait for appointments. His front desk is friendly, he explains things very thoroughly, and makes sure you understand everything before you leave his office. I'm confused by all the great reviews on here but to each their own I guess. I came here for a particularly painful sore on my thigh. I got completely undressed and in that paper gown to have a full body check since it was offered, might as well. The whole "appointment" was less than 5 mins. He looked at it and had no interest in my previous history sore. Stuck a swab to culture it (I'd had this done previously and it was negative). He then went to prescribe me some antibiotics which I said I didn't want because I wanted to see if the culture would be negative again. I don't believe in taking antibiotics just for the hell of it. He seemed annoyed by this and gave me a cream instead. Needless to say, definitely didn't get a full body check. Upon "checking out" I found I have to take the swab to Quest myself. I asked if I keep it in the fridge or how long it was viable for because I wouldn't be able to drop it off before work the next day. I couldn't get a straight answer, very reassuring. I ended up throwing it out because I wasn't going to pay for a test for a sample that was potentially no good since I wasn't told I'd have to take it to the lab myself. When I was leaving he asked how I heard of them, I said Yelp and his reply was "Was I straight forward with you or hurt you?" Uhhh, weird questions and I guess. Anyways, they bill $175 for an appointment. I will not be going back. I will say the front staff is amazing, wish they were doctors. read more

While waiting approval from the insurance he tells me three times, "If I don't get authorization, I don't get paid.". The two ladies that work there were great. James Weintraub led me to believe I had a cancerous growth on my face that he could biopsy it on the spot, but it would, "...require costly plastic surgery to correct the look of your face". His suggestion I had cancer and that a large chunk of my nose needed to be removed and nonchalant attitude about it all caused a great deal of undue stress and worry. Sensing something was off, I utilized Kaiser's second opinion service was was told it was a common facial wart and had it frozen off on the spot by a friendly, professional dermatologist. Because it is difficult to get a dermatology appointment, I was forced to see him again for a follow-up (my other option was to wait another month for the other derm). This time around, he entered the exam room with his mouth full of food, got up close to my face, and continued to chew in a disgusting fashion just mere inches from my face. He then use cryo on an area where there was no growth, and I had to stop him and tell him where to actually treat me. He used the cryo for far longer than his colleague did, which caused massive blisters on my face that did not disappear for over a month. He was also curt and dismissive and acted like I was somehow an inconvenience. Get another job if you feel that way about your patients. James Weintraub is a rude, unprofessional, and inept dermatologist with formal complaints against him easily available online. I suggest you Google his name and see for yourself. Stay very, very far away from this man. I will not give him the dignity of calling him a doctor. He's a piece of garbage. read more
