Over time I started to realize I wanted a bit more and Dr. Zol and his team were very patient and accommodating as I worked through my process. I'm not a traditional FTM patient but I was still able to get the surgery and they handled everything with the insurance wonderfully. I finally had my surgery on 7/18 and couldn't be happier. Their instructions and everything around recovery has been so much smoother than I could have anticipated. They offer so much support before and after. I'm so happy with my results, going from a DDD or maybe even E to fully flat and more masculinized chest has changed my life. I am so happy. I'm so grateful to Zol and his team. After many visits for a wrist injury Dr. Fealy recommended surgery as I was told it was the ONLY option for my tear in my wrist. Any questions I had were responded to with the most condescending and rude tone....there's bad bedside manner and then there's just plain being rude, Fealy was rude. In fact he told me (and I quote) "you people always seem to do this" in regards to me asking if I should possibly put off the surgery for a month to see if it heals a bit on its own. Not sure what category he was trying to lump me in when calling me "you people." Mothers? Women? Injured individuals seeking decent care?? Fortunately, after dealing with Fealy for months, I found another highly recommended Doctor elsewhere. This new doctor COMPLETELY disagreed with everything Dr. Fealy said, especially the need for surgery. I was told the cast that Fealy had me wear for weeks, along with the brace I wore after the cast was removed was completely useless and never would have helped my injury. The new Doctor was also a shocked to hear that physical therapy wasn't recommended nor were there any other tests done besides an MRI. In fact there was even comments made about the need for Fealy to retire and not push unnecessary surgeries on patients. I'm sad that I waited so much time and money whilst in Dr. Fealy's care, but mostly I am saddened that I felt the need to put up with a medical professional being such an incredible jerk. Grateful that I found a caring and competent new doctor who healed my wrist without the added cost and burden of having to go through a surgery.

As we were talking before my latest surgery I remember looking around the room at the beautiful smiling faces of my attending staff. I saw how diligent they were in their duties. In addition to her megawatt awesomeness she is a skilled and thoughtful surgeon. Dr. Powers makes the most beautiful sutures. When I got my breast implants, liposuction and mini tummy tuck done in 2000 I remember so vividly how in awe of I was of her stitches. The first time I sought out Dr. Powers I was in my mid 20's and I felt insecure and uncomfortable in my own body. I found it hard to look at myself naked or be seen naked. I needed Dr. Powers after my 2nd baby had turned 1 or two years old. My 2nd pregnancy left me feeling like I was swimming in a sea of loose skin and stretch marks. I had rapidly gained and lost a lot of weight in a short period of time. As I was recovering from my surgery I remember looking at my sutures in complete awe. They were so small and so perfectly put in that I found it hard to believe that they were done by a human being. I would have sworn they were done on a sewing machine. Between her gluing my skin, stitching my skin and placing vitamin E oil tape over the stitches I was left with nothing more that an indistinguishable crease line that seemed to be a naturally occurring pattern on my skin. In addition to her great skills and work ethic she is a delightful person to talk with. Her impressively wide depth of knowledge extends in so many directions I always find myself learn something new. All you have to do is talk with Dr. Powers briefly to see how truly remarkable she is as a Surgeon and as an individual person. I feel so lucky that I found Dr. Jen Stark at the beginning of my search. I have never met a surgeon who is as compassionate, caring, and empathetic as Dr. Stark. She is incredibly detail-oriented, and you can tell how much care, perfectionism, and artistry she puts into her work. As a patient, that was especially comforting to me because I knew I was going to be asleep while she was doing something that was so important to me. Knowing that I could completely trust her while I was out, and that she understood exactly what I wanted and would do everything she could to make it happen, was honestly the best feeling. The recovery was also so much easier than I expected. I am not particularly good with elective surgeries or recovery, so I was prepared for the worst.
