We decided to give the place another chance after how rude staff was to us but that was a huge mistake. During the drag show the performers were touching all over patrons who clearly did NOT consent to the sexual attention, some even left after being touched by them. My partner, who is autistic, went to give a performer a tip and she shoved their face into her chest. I had to calm them down, hoping it was a one off, but then the same person did it to them again the next time they were performing. It only stopped because they stood behind me for the rest of the show. We also watched as a partner in another couple got publicly ridiculed for not being okay with the physical attention. Her partner got groped in front of the whole crowd and the performer pulled her out to the center to argue about it. This place is disgusting and we will never be back.

On my recent trip to Houston!…read more When I was searching for dowtown bars and dancing, Behind Closed Doors popped up. It looked dark, clubbish, and fun (exactly what I was looking for) and I couldn't wait to come here. After a 25 minute Uber ride we were downtown and walking to our destination. At first we could not find it but thankfully a nice gentlemen showed us where it was. Upon walking in, darkness with these bright lights paved our way. We sat down at the bar, but realized dancing did not start until 10pm. The bartender came over and said to us "we have a speakasy behind door #3" we were like WHAT! Let's go. So, we walked down the dark hallway and pushed open door #3 (hence the name) to find this super cool speakeasy bar. Dim lights, really modern decor, comfy suede chairs and best of all, some really great cocktails. If you are ever in Downtown Houston, I highly recommend you coming here. I promise you will have the best time. We did not stay for dancing.

Before I got here, I decided to read through quite a number of reviews and most yelpers like the place, but there are complaints concerning the DJ, music and venue. The interior is basically one big dance floor surrounded by tables, chairs, and three bars. Inside it is dark, cold and loud. There is a DJ booth in the corner, but sometimes the DJ will be standing on the floor with the iPad directing traffic. There is an outside area which has a stage and can also double as a dance floor. There's also a bar, photo booth, gaming machines, and a stage. However, very little of it is covered, so it's best to come after dark. It's also likely you'll be paying a cover charge to get in depending on the day.
